3 today. My mild shin splint in one leg eased up. I still have a super sore thigh/butt muscle. Any ideas on how to stretch this area? I can't figure it out. It hurts from about halfway down my thigh up to my booty. Help! Been like this for weeks!

Oh no! Try these twice a day or at least once each time just before you run. It's a video I've shared out of my dropbox. Just use the weight of one leg for resistance. You don't need to push extra. do 15-20 reps each leg. It'll warm up and strengthen your shin.

The stretches that are good for your hip area are the pigeon pose from yoga and the hurdler stretch. You can google those. The exercises that are good are lunges and something else HKRISTINE tipped me off to. Go to YouTube and search for "MYRTL coach Jay". It's a video of 12 strengthening exercises/stretches.

    Good luck!

This has helped my recent thigh/hip issues. It's called The Pigeon Pose

Not reporting mileage yet, just want to send out some thanks to all the people that posted encouraging messages. Believe me as I sit here sore as anything, it sure made me realize I did accomplish something amazing on Saturday in the Tour Des Chutes. I made 36 miles at a starting elevation of 3200 feet, 100 degrees out, had mechanical problems, fell a few times and I survived all on my mountain bike. I was transported to the finish line, but I made them stop, unload my bike and I rode, barely the last quarter mile and crossed the finish line. Not bad for a 57 year old gal. Thank you Sunflower9194, Kar328, Sufferlandria, Clepant, Meg2166, Taxmom9093, Verdemujer, Phytogurl and Ceci_O_K. I survived cancer 2x, I should be able to go back next year and conquer this ultimate challenge.

You should be very proud of yourself. Glad you are feeling better about it!

    14th: 4.17 (2.7 bike) - Total: 296.01 / 153.99 to go (9.05 m/d average)

Yesterday - feeling down and blue. Made myself ride a few sprints just before the rain. Didn't go to class as I had a conflicting meeting. I'm wanting to quit my martial arts class. I shouldn't. My heart's not in it though and I don't practice. I would rather ride a bike than practice. But come winter, I'll miss it. Sigh. I'm very conflicted at the moment and that's not helping the blues.
