Feels lame in the company of such rock stars, but here's me:

Swim #6 (of my LIFE, for context):
    300m free
    300m br
    :)
I've been doing the same exact thing each time, but just trying to do it better. I know I'm not doing breaststroke quite right, but I only ever think to look up form videos when I'm at work, and I'm pretty sure googling "breaststroke form" on my govt computer would be frowned upon.

@BethAnnieT Well that's a huge compliment being called a Rock Star when it comes to swimming.
Ironically I consider myself to be slow with lots of Technique Faults. As they would say a "Work in Progress".
I so understand the Computer restrictions on work computers - especially Gov't PC's.

Two swims in since Christmas. Santa brought me a waterproof iPod  Boy, what a difference swimming with music makes for me. I thought it might distract from all of my noisy internal dialogue, but it doesn't. I'm REALLY enjoying it. Now, I just have to remember not to sing while I swim...

@girlwithcurls2 The mental picture of you trying to sing while swimming - made my day.
Remember sing why running not while swimming.

THANK YOU! I was just sitting here at working thinking, oh I'm swimming today and STILL forgot to watch a video :) Thanks so much! This is helpful. I think I have most of it OK but the timing is a tad off, so now I have something to work purposefully on today, woo hoo!

Yep, I understand the Work in Progress thing so much. My big problem right now is just not worrying that someone might see me and think "what a horrible swimmer; she's doing that all wrong!" and just going about my business, knowing I don't have to be good at it right now. Just getting in there and doing the work is enough. (But still if someone dares look at me while I'm swimming I still get a little uncomfortable.) Eh, work in progress!

I snagged 40 minutes before the cardio class. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my music while I swim!! I find myself more relaxed and able to get into a groove. First time ever that I hopped in and did my first 500 without being warmed up, without stopping. :) Thank you, Santa!!!

Omg!!!! Ten days out of the pool equals total loss of feel for the water and fitness.

    1500m of demoralisation!

    500 free
    300 pull
    200 kick
    100 free
    100 back
    2x 100IM

Going home to Google emergency fitness plans lol.

@emmab0902 Sorry to hear that you are struggling right now. Hope you can find your groove.

Managed to sneak in an hour at the pool after work. 1200 m.
A little of this, a little of that - no real planned workout just wanted to get in the water and log some laps.

Going to get kicked pretty hard the next few days with Winter Weather. -17C and a low of -30C. :|

Hang in there, emma. It's so hard to feel so slapped down at something you were on top of. We're here while you make your way back. Feel free to vent.
juliet... BRRRR!!! That is tough weather! My pool closes due to weather (road conditions), and we're in another bout of it right now. It's the 3rd time this winter that we're closed. This is sort of cyclical in Portland. Most years, there isn't snow/ice. This year, these storms just keep coming. As a developmentally new swimmer (I'm probably beyond the timeline of actually calling myself a beginner!), I just keep trying to get to the pool and get water time.

Keep swimming, peeps :) Regardless of which hemisphere you swim on, the holidays muck with schedules and diets. Let's push through!

2700m in a 50 metre pool which is too hard for me!

    400 warmup as 100 free 100 back 100 br 100IM continuous

    4x 50 scull

    3x 500 free with 30s rest

8x50 kick with fins alt back/free

    200 warmdown

Did this session with one of the masters squad but she is a great endurance swimmer who hasn't slacked off in the past month so needless to say it was not fun lol.

My arms are going to hurt tomorrow!

@emmab0902 50 metre pools are hard for all of us who only have 25 metre pools. Arms hurting = a good workout.

When I travel to Grande Prairie about a 3 hr drive away they have a pool that is 25m wide by 120m long.
That can be converted into 1 x 100m, 2 x 50 m or 4 x 25m and this also includes a Diving Pool with a 10 m Platform and various spring boards. The first time I jumped into a 50 m pool it was a real mental battle to complete any distances.

I know how you feel! At the beginning it feels like that you will NEVER reach that wall! You do get used to it after a while though.

Evening Lane Swim. They only had a Single Double lane set up and 6 swimmers - so we did the double circle.
Outbound on the outside return in the middle, fast swimmers to the right on outbound - everyone else on the left. Worked pretty darn good once everyone caught onto the concept. Its what we do in Adult Swim Club. 1200m
    300m Back, 500 Front, 300 Breast and 100m Kick.
The back was broken into 25m lengths - outbound on the rope so I didn't wander into the other swimmers.
Fishgutzy still knocking out the big distances.

I'm more impressed by those dedicated to serious drill work. All I do is free style laps, some kick board , some with pads and pull buoy.
I have no plans to compete. I just go, burn, and enjoy the psychologically calming effect of swimming.

Another 4 miles today. Today was one of those days when my body felt like I couldn't get past 50 laps. But I kept pushing through the wall.

After a 20 day break, finally got back in on a cold and windy evening. Great view of the moon. Felt like I'd been away for six months, though, couldn't come close to my usual distance.

@nuffer - it sounds lovely if chilly. And I know the feeling about being away as I am on day 2 of being back.

    2500 yards @ 50 minutes

Before I got in, I pondered upping to 3000 yards...then reality hit. :)

That is a good pace. getting 60 laps is a matter of pushing through the wall at 50. I have at least one day a week when that wall strikes early. Sometime even at 50 laps. I just refocus on stroke counting and push through. I end up feeling more refreshed 10 laps later :D
