    That's ^^ hilarious!

Our pool is closed. Boiler can't keep up with the cold temps we've been having. It's only a little below freezing. I hope they get it sorted today.

And now with hearing about all the pool closures, I have no excuses to get my workouts done.

4000 yards @ 80 minutes. Not sure what is going on this week, but struggling a bit with just being tired. Made it through my workout but...it was a touch lackluster.

Hey it's my first post in here! woo hooo :)

    300m freestyle
    300m breaststroke
    50m backstroke just to see if I knew how (I don't :D )

But uh... I took little rests in between each length because I'm totally new and trying not to die. Next week I'll do little rests between each 50m instead of between each 25m.

I'm totally new to swimming at all, much less laps and keeping track of laps and time. Still getting the hang of it.

Two more days of 4 miles in an alternate pool.
But the pool at my Y could be open again later today so tomorrow back to normal. Hopefully.

@Montepulciano You nailed it with that jpg.
@nuffer & @Bruceapple Sorry to hear that your pools are down. Feel your pain - ours has a 3-4 week Maintenance Shut Down every fall.

    Adult Swim Club tonight.
Packed my bag, drove to the pool, arrivied 15 mins early. Watched the Under 25 swimmers do a monster set of kicks. Went into the change room - WTF - 2 of everything except 0 Trunks.
Drove home grabbed the 2 trunks neatly folded on the Bed and back to the pool- now late. That's how it started and it just seemed to put me out of sync for the whole set.

    200m warm up. 100 Fr, 50 Kick, 50 Pull

3 x Front Crawl and BackStroke - 30 sec Treading water each time we were at the deep end
    25m - 8 kick per Stroke
    25m - Descending Stroke Count
    50m - Swim

    Breast Stroke
    50m Pull
    50m Whip Kick
    50m 2 Kick/Pull

Broken 800m ; Personal Challenge; High Elbows, Clean Hand Entry, Flip Turns
    4 x 25m @ 40
    2 x 50m @ 1:20
    1 x 100m @ 2:00
    1 x 200m @ 3:30
    1 x 100m @ 2:00
    2 x 50m @ 1:20
    4 x 25m @ 40

    Cool down
    200m Choice

1650m that just felt like a struggle.

@juliet3455 I really like that broken 800, I may have to borrow that one. :)

@Montepulciano The broken 800 is one of my favorite drills, right behind 60 strokes Time & Distance. Basically a bunch of mini sprints stacked on top of each other. The times I posted were the lowest ones that our Coach/Instructor/Friend had posted on the workout board. As she said it allows for 5-10 seconds of rest at the end of each distance.
I expect to get hit with a Double 800m before the end of this session.
ie 200m Warmup, Broken 800m, Drill set 200m, 2nd Broken 800m, Cool down.

@juliet3455 , I don't know how far you had to go to drive back home for trunks, but KUDOS!!! I've done that too. And showed up late. And it threw off my workout. But dang, you got it in. Thumbs up to you!
My pool's closed. 2 snow days

Thanks @girlwithcurls2 . Its only a 5 minute drive but it somehow just sets you back. Sorry to hear that your Pool is closed due to snow days. Our pool is fairly empty right now due to the weather.

Relaxing Recreational Swim Tonight - 1500m of mixed strokes.

5 people in one double lane. We were all fairly close in pace and good at recognizing where the other swimmers were and what they were doing so no Lane Hog Issues - slide to the side at the wall and wave the faster swimmer on then join back into the circle. Realize that the Back stroker could see you coming and slow down to time your pass before the wall - easy when everyone has there Brain Engaged. :)

Brrrr...cold. I swear you guys make me feel spoiled. I usually get a lane to myself for the majority, if not all my workout and so far (hoping this does not tempt the weather gods) no snow.

Pool opened again last night. 2500y in 56 minutes, on the slow side. Snow on the pool deck, 35 degree ambient temp and moderate rain. First couple hundred was tough to get started but I can't complain about cold when there's someone from Alberta in this group

@nuffer Snow on the pool deck?? Outside pool still open? - Needless to say all of our local area outside pools closed at the end of September. I remember in High School having to go to the pool for Gym Class and it was cold - the deck was cold - the water was cold. Just not a fun experience.

As the song goes " The weather outside was frightful" so the pool was a delight today. 2100m

    200m warm-up
    3 x Split Kick sets: 25m Kick & 25m Swim - Fr, Bk & Br: swim matched kick (450)
    Broken 800m
3 x Split Kick sets: 25m Dolphin & Fr, 25m Dolp & Bk, 25m Fish & Bk: Extra Bk since no stroke works with Fish (450)
    200m Bk.

I was surprised that the pool was not jammed right full. In the Medium speed double lane with 6 people ( expected more ) - we negotiated and were doing a dbl circle - Outbound on the rope and Return down the center. The Slow Lane had 8 and the Fast had 5. Another 10 in the "Free Swim - Recreation area" ie floaters and chatter's.

Kick sets & Slow swim sets on the right rope.
No kick sets down the center return lane.
    Speedsters on the left rope.
Worked quite well just had to modify my kick sets to add the 25m return swim. Did the broken 800 all on the left -Speedster side. By the time I got to the 200m Bk it was me and one lady so we were back to single sided - no circling. :)

    Welcome BethAnnie!

That sounds a good swim - hope you are going back for more...!

So no yet again I did not swim today. I am still struggling to get to the pool - the last plan was to go when my daughter has her swim lessons. But then she broke her arm....

I may end up cancelling my membership at this rate.

I am enjoyng the new dog and doing a LOT of walking - but i am really struggling to get a pool swim in now. I will try to fix in Jan ....

Glad the rest of you are doing so well!

25 min paddle around before class. There's only one lane on Mondays and Wednesdays, so it's always up in the air whether or not I'll swim. It's hard to join a lane of 4 warmed-up swimmers, all different speeds. I wasn't feeling it AT ALL, but I'm glad I went. Slept like a baby last night.

It's been almost a week, and I have felt like crap, but I finally went back in the water today. Took me a little longer than normal, but I did my standard 1.5 miles. about 90 minutes instead of my regular 72.

    Two swims

Yesterday on an overnight Road Trip I stopped in at the Small 4 Lane Pool in the community I was working in.
A simple 1000m, 250 Fr, 250 Br, 250 Bk, 50 Bk Kick, 100 Fr Kick, 100 Breast. The water was very warm and the lanes were small. 2 people in a lane was a challenge.
Tonight was Adult swim club. 2300m
    Warm-up 100m Fr, 50m Fr Kick, 50m Bk

Rock The Clock Back. Essentially 25m sprints where your RI decreases by 1 sec every time you complete a length.
You have to get to the other end before the clock hits 60.

Leave on 0 - Swim 25m, RI until 1 sec, Swim 25m, RI until 2 sec, Swim 25m etc, etc.
The first 20 are Easy, then fatigue start building and as the RI continues to decrease you don't fully recover.
Managed to get around to the 34 sec mark = 26 sec swim. Before I could no longer Beat the Clock back to 60.
34 lengths x 25m = 850m; The speedsters managed another 4 lengths before they didn't make it back
    100m EZ Cool down

6 x 50m (Br, Fr & Bfly ) 3 Stroke Pull out before 1st Breath. No Fly did another Fr.
    100m Ez Choice
8 x 25m Fr @ 30s; Personal Goal, All Left Shoulder Breathing on 4, Flip turns for the practise in deep end
4 x 50m Fr @ 60s; Personal Goal, All Left Shoulder Breathing on 4, Flip Turns in Deep End
    3 x 50m kick
    200m back EZ Cooldown

    Twice through the following
    3x 100 free on 2.15 holding 1.18 or less
    3x 50 free on 60 holding 39 or less
    50 br
    100 free max

    2x 100 free on 2.15 holding 1.17 or less

There's a few here but getting lane space is very problematic especially over our summer holidays which are nearly beginning.
