Yes, thanks. I sat down on the couch with it last night and managed to work it out - it was impossible to do in the pool which is so deep I have to tread water if not holding on to the bar, plus goggles.

I have to use custom when I am in China. The gym pool is only 22M. [But the sales guys are told to say it is 25M. I told the guy I deal with that they need to stop lying to customers because they are using smart watches now. and 25M report 13% more work than actually done.]

    Very frustrating 2000m today.

50m eight lane pool. Two allocated for lane swimming, the rest taken up by an inflatable. Seems workable in theory.....

Until you rapidly realise that despite already having 75% of the pool, the non swimmers still think it's ok to randomly walk through the swim lanes, jump in near where you're swimming and otherwise be highly irritating.

But wait there's more..... the rope attached to the inflatable keeps dropping into the water, meaning you have to be on the alert to narrowly avoid being beheaded each length.

I thought I was just going for a swim, not competing in Hastings Ninja Warrior!!!

Back in the pool today. Aimed for 20 laps (1200m). Thought I’d done that but Garmin tells me 30 (ha!) and closer analysis of lap times suggests it may have only been 18. Too much faffing about catching my breath between lengths. More swimming required.

    Friday Fun Day. (1700 yards)

    W/U: 600 yds
    200 S/K/P

    Kick Set: 500 yds
    10 x 50yds on 1:20. Odds BR or Fly/Even FR or BK

Fun Set: Points Relay. 400 yds
6x5:00 with 11 pts per team.
    50s worth FR 1, BR 2, BK 3, FL 4
    100s worth FR 2, BR, 4, BK 6, FL 8

One swimmer at a time, swim until you get 11 points.

I was on a team of 3 and ended up swimming 2x50 FL, 4x50 BK, and 2x50 FR.
These are races, so all out effort. I'm still slow (relative to where I've been)
FRs were on 31, back on 35, FL on 35/38.

    Cool down: 200 yds.

If I'm pausing, for any reason, between laps I hit the pause button.

So many great swims here! Welcome to those who just found us! :)
I got a good swim in on Wednesday, and a shorter one yesterday with deep water cardio class after both. I woke up feeling tired muscles. Today is my lifting day, but I'm hoping to grab a quick 10 laps or so after that to stretch out and justify changing into my suit to use the hot tub...

sorry for your loss emmab092. I'm also impressed with the 1000 free kick. I'm ready to stop kicking after 100 free kick. Way to stick it out!

It was with fins. I can manage 400 max without fins then my legs fall off!

Back in the pool, this time for 24 laps. I have made it my goal to get to 34, which equates to 2km. Still can't get the Garmin to play nice - when I paused it as @fishgutzy suggested, it still gave me a bunch of extra laps, and when I just swam, even with less than 5 seconds pause between lengths, it got it well wrong again, and this time I am absolutely positive I counted right. Not sure quite what to do... I've considered just not bothering, although it would be nice to watch progress, especially as I'm in the newbie gains state!

Are you stopping in the middle?
Are the push offs consistent? Or are they too short or too close to your stroke length?

No stopping (pool is 2.45m deep!), but my push offs aren’t that strong as previously (when I last swam 10years ago) I’d lose my goggles if I pushed off to hard. I’ll try that and see if it works. However, I did get a 120m reading on my first 60m length before the turn...

    Suggestion based on my experience.
I use Aquasphere Kaiman goggles. These sit on the edge of the orbital bone. That was they don't feel like they are pressing the eye when properly snug.
I also put my cap on over my goggles.
This prevent google flip on hard push off.
Link for Goggles. They also have a certain for women.

Yes. Got my afternoon swim in. I arrived in time to hopefully get 2250y in. That's kind of my baseline swim. I got one lap short of it before they moved the lane lines, so I hopped over and got the last lap in. Kind of silly, really, but I have this mental thing about finishing. Went to the Monday night water cardio class because the instructor is SO GOOD. We just didn't stop moving. I don't have a lot of juice on Mondays for his class if I swim before, but it's a great challenge and I always sleep really well.

Yesterday I received coaching from my local HS swim coach, confirming some awful catch technique. Yay.
Today, I swam 40 minutes repeating catch drills in slow motion and normal speed, imprinting (muscle? Brain? Whatever!). This is how we make 25 yards interesting, contrary to what swimming detractors think. (I was such a non-swimmer before)

Also: enough fly drills to keep it interesting.

Today's cough was brought to me by an upper respiratory virus from I don't know where.
