Chapeau Team #1; hitting the distance and some for each of the first three days...
I'm sure the other 3 teams will be hot on our heels...
Keep it up!

Just saw the new rule on the TTT - was the first day the only one of those or are there more? From what I could see, the two other days listed as TT are ITT which I take to mean individual time trials and not team races. Can you please confirm what days are TTT days. for me?0
-
Just the one TTT on the first day, the other time trial stages are individual ones.0

Just a word of warning to team 2--I plan to only ride between 10 and 20 mile per day this week. I have a century on Sunday and have been dealing with pretty consistent knee pain so trying to take it easy but still contribute a bit. Sorry!!0

Sounds sensible to me, and a steady 16-32 km isn't to be sneezed at... If everyone did that every day of the challenge, we'd still hit the overall distance0 -
Okay - announcement time - Vaughters isn't the only one to start re-branding teams you know...
As team #1 no longer has the esteemed FatDadSlim as a member, it seems only sensible that team #2 should now be rejoicing under the "Team FDS" banner...
This of course means that team #1 is in desperate need of a new title-sponsor, but, owing to my fondness for all things Italian and Noodly, I'm pleased to announce that team #1 is now to be referred to as "Team Pastana"

I love Parma ham0 -

Take care & good luck Sunday... I have a hard time doing daily rides, but I'm giving it a go because you crazy people inspire me to do it...0 -
Possibly Garmin Sharp-Cheddar for team 3?0

Possibly Garmin Sharp-Cheddar for team 3?
Hey I live near Cheddar, and the gorge is one of my favourite climbs so that would be quite apt!
Or Team Fry?!0 -
Possibly Garmin Sharp-Cheddar for team 3?
Tempting as it may be to come up with something cheesey for the Garmin Logo's - it's going to be defunct at the end of this season - and it'd be nice to actually have 4 teams that may be around next year...0 -

That's do-able, I think...

Love the ham0

my other idea even though they are a continental team they now have the longest continuous sponsor in pro cycling.
Jelly Beans p/b myfitnesspal? anyone? Bueller?
Also as of now team 3 is mostly from the US with the addition of a few others. it would almost match team Jelly bellys roster.0 -
How about this for an american influenced one...

Awesome!! Makes me hungry though. Think I'll nip out to the deli for some Prosciutto di Parma :-)0 -
Okay - clubs on Strava now set up, invites issued
Once someone has signed up to the club, I'll make them an admin, then back out of the club so my rides don't distort your club stats...
to track the teams here's the URL of each of them...

While adjusting my front derailed at 10pm last night
the old Shimano Altus C50 shifter broke! The internal
piece of plastic cracked in half. I will probably borrow my
wife's MTB for a few rides and get mine fixed up
ASAP. Considering my bike is from the the 90's and
It's only recently seen heavy use I have a feeling I should replace
both shifters and have my LBS look it over for any other
potential issues. Sorry team 4 I was really ging ho and
I'll do the best I can.0 -

We've all had mechanicals that get in the way at some point Bill, no worries - I'd definitely say getting things looked at would be a good idea - though in fairness, you may have problems sourcing new parts to repair kit from 20 years ago (I know I did when I came back to riding a few years ago) so, it may be time for a bit of an upgrade...0 -
So i ordered a new shifter!

Luckily ive been a carpenter for 23 years and i'm good with tools and growing up i ended up becoming the neighborhood bike mechanic because my dad was an auto mechanic and we had a garage full of tools.
I will also get some decent bicycle degreaser and dry lube and do a proper cleaning and adjustment on all the front and rear components. I have riden the bike almost 400 miles in 3 months so i can't expect a 20 year old bike to perform flawlessly.
I can definitely see a road bike in my future for next season0 -

My apologies to Team Omega ParmaHam - the Vuelta started out great, and then it seems I contracted diverticulitis I hope to be well enough to get some miles in tomorrow and this weekend!0
-
Well - now I know what the quirky team in Strava was that I joined. HAHAHAH --- I will be so happy once year end is over (that's a US Fed financial term and comes Sept 30). Then I won't be working sooooooo hard. And if it would just stop raining (I hate riding in the rain), then I'd have more miles. And school - what's up with all the school stuff and cub scouts and the kid bringing home a cold that Daddy caught and has now given to Mommy? I'm suppose to be riding! I don't have time for all this other life stuff! Give me my bike! And don't tell me to eat cake either - I'm eating enough oreos as it is.0

Yikes C, sorry to hear that. Not sure what it is but it sounds painful!! Don't worry about the miles, do what you can, when you can but get better first!! Your Parma Ham Peeps have got your back0 -
ROFL!! That is fantastic. :laugh:0 -
Team FDS is pretty well stacked with some big time riders. What's up with that? ;-)0
