This will be the team I will play on, so I will introduce myself here.
I am almost 46 and I live in Prince George BC. I am married and have three dogs. I've lost about 100lbs so far. I believe in strength training, exercise and having a diet that is a lifestyle, not an exercise in misery, lol. I practice IIFYM which boils down to eating high protein, healthy fat and high fiber food that I enjoy, 80% of the time and enjoying some treats. This has kept me from going crazy. ????

Hello everyone!I live in Wyoming but travel a lot to different parts of the country. As such I've been sticking with bodyweight-type exercises lately. Been trying to incorporate some ring stuff as well.
I do intermittent fasting, have for several years now. Just started a Whole30 this week.
Looking for maintenance and improved body composition at this point. Physical goals are of the Spartan Race/Ninja Warrior variety.

Hey, I'm Louise. I've been on here for what feels like forever and have been trying to lose the last few pounds for the last year. Its not going to well, I've gone from needing to lose 4lbs to wanted to lose 10!
I am almost finished the New Rules of Lifting for Women programme and am planning on starting New rules of lifting supercharged next. I love to lift. Not such a fan of cardio though so I need this challenge to get me in gear on that front!

Hey everyone I'm Candace! I'm 28 and live in Ontario. I gave myself a lifestyle overhaul about 6 months ago and so far have lost 45lbs by eating healthy and keeping active. I had a personal trainer who made a program for me. It's a mix of cardio and strength training. He used to switch up every single week. Now that I'm on my own I noticed that I've been slacking off a little bit (rather than go three times a week for 2 hours I've been going twice a week for 1.5 hours instead). I need this challenge to kick things into high gear again. I also want to start running on nights that I don't go to the gym. I think this challenge will be the perfect kick in the butt that I need to start doing it.

Hey all. I'm Inky, but you can call me Zombie. I'm a big fan of the Walking Dead. Anything to do with zombies or just horror in general, actually. I joined MFP this time last year and it's been a great year. I'm a IIFYM kind of gal. I love strength training and do strong lifts 5x5 thrice a week and lots of body weight exercises daily. I took part in the last Walking Dead challenge earlier this year and had a blast, so I'm excited for this challenge to start.

    Hi!

I'm Christina, in VA, US. I'm training for a half-marathon and watching Walking Dead marathons. And Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And Supernatural. I'm big into creature flicks.

I'll be doing either new rules of lifting for women or 5x5 for strength, with cardio mainly being my training for the half.

Edited to add: Feel free to add me! I'm all about having friends to encourage me to get up from watching Buffy and get to the gym!

    MORNING TEAM!!!

Im TJ, I live in Oklahoma and I have been on MFP for YEARS!!! Its only been the last year and a half that I have put alot of effort into eating healthy and exercises - I have lost 135lbs and still have a pesky 10 lbs that refuses to stay off to meet my goal.

Cindy and Louise will both tell you, if you see me slacking off or whining during this challenge - yell at me!!! I need extra motivation sometimes to exercise. Im giving the Advanced group a chance this time around - hopefully it pays off.

Watching Buffy and going to the gym are not mutually exclusive. You just have to make a sort of harness that will hold your Buffy watching device at eye level while you work out (I've heard there are special glasses that can replace your tv harness, but they must be crazy expensive). The extra weight of the tv/tablet/whatever you are using to watch Buffy will make your workouts really killer.

Where can I get one of these? Just last week a friend of mine told me not to go to the gym, to stay home and watch buffy instead. I was very proud of myself that I managed to resist the temptation! I think my reward for finishing this challenge will be a Buffy marathon, including all the comics! :drinker: :drinker:

TJ, I am always here to yell at you. Hell, I'll start right now...WHY ARE YOU ON THE INTERNET?? GO OUT FOR A RUN AND STOP BEING SO LAZY!! Helpful?

Hi! I'm Maria and I'm back! No zombies got me over the break ;)

I'm a SAHM to a busy busy 7 yr old girl and an 11 yr old autistic boy. Since last year my husband has started working out, losing weight and more importantly watching Walking Dead! okay maybe not more important but a close 2nd! Hoping I can get him in here. I decided to go join the Advanced team because I've been doing really well with my workouts and want to keep pushing myself!

I've been watching Dexter since it was on Showtime I missed it. I'll have to add Buffy to my to do list!

I had to make my own. The harness fits over your head and attaches to your torso to stabilise. My first version was quite big, because it had to fit my tv and dvd player, but now I have upgraded to a flat screen tv with a built in dvd player, so it is a lot lighter and doesn't protrude so much at the front. It is great for lifting (the bench press can be a bit awkward) and doing cardio like running on the treadmill. I wouldn't advise swimming with the harness as it might damage your tv. I also wear a battery pack on my back to power the tv. It helps to balance out the weight of the harness. You can adapt it to hold comics too, but you will have to turn the pages manually.

Hiya, I'm Gigi from NYC. Just turned 50 - damn where did the time go. I'm always doing some sort of exercise but tend to be all other the place with it. Lately it's hiking & Kettlebell complexes. I waffled between intermediate and advanced because of the cardio - forgetting my hiking with a pack counts right? Gotta walk for miles with supplies when there's zombies around! OK OK I'll run some too.*grumble grumble*

  Inky, you are hilarious! I have visions of me in the gym with this contraption on watching Buffy while pelting out some deadlifts!

Gigi, welcome to the team. Yes, hiking most definitely counts. I love hiking!

Hi all! I'm April, I'm 38 and live in sunny Georgia. Literally one hour from where the show is filmed! Working on losing some weight and getting in shape. Love TWD, back for another round of challenge using it as motivation. I was team Rick last time and he served me well so I'll be following him again. He does make the show after all. I'm far from advanced, but truly want to challenge myself and I think this is the best way.

I have several friends locally who have visited the show site and met the actors. I plan to do the same as my reward for completing this challenge with at least a 10 pound loss. :drinker:

I would like to tell you all a story, just so you realize how strange I am and how much I love this show.

I have a "not a boyfriend/roommate" Its what I call him cause I dont like commitment labels. Anyhow - we were friends for a couple months before anything major happened and he was out of town for the 4th of July and my other friend (seriously I only have like 4) just happened to be driving passed where he was (5 hours away) on her way to someplace for that weekend and she convinced me to blow off work the next day and start the weekend early by going with her and having her drop me off at his hotel. He knew i was coming, TOTALLY platonic! But the point is, I had already told him I would NEVER date someone who had NEVER seen The Walking Dead. And he hadn't, not a single episode....inconceivable!!! :noway:

When I got to the hotel, not only did he have my drink of choice in the mini fridge, he had apparently spent the 5 hrs it took for me to arrive, driving to 3 different walmarts to find and purchase the first two seasons of WD. We spent a 4 day weekend walking around the little tourist area we were by, watching fireworks and MORE IMPORTANTLY, watching 3 SEASONS of the walking dead (we finished the first two and went looking for the 3rd) What a sweet nerd he is to do that. He is now obsessed with the show starting as well...and I have sucked him into geek ville with me on a few others. I have converted several people into WD obsessed geeks. I should get an award.

Ah, I'd feel like I was cheating if I only had a tablet to carry around.

I'm like that with Firefly. I have converted many people into Browncoats. It makes me happy and you can't stop the signal after all. Everyone I know is a Walking Dead nerd already, but then again I hang out with zombies and it's nice to see our kind represented on tv.

OMG this is my place. So many Buffy fans, Browncoats....

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

    Y'all are my people.

PS: I am soon to rig a contraption for Buffy while squatting/deadlifting/staking/crossbowing. It may involve a headpiece.

So what character did everyone choose?

I'm Carol, I was last year. And my BFF says if there was a zombie apocalypse I would be post-Sophie Carol. Funny part, my daughter's name is Sophie. And I had to give her rules for the zombie apocalypse so she'd be like Carl, not Sophie.

I picked Bob but I haven't seen Season 4 yet, I picked him because I liked the actor when he was in The Wire. :)

I picked Michonne. Basically because she's a bad *kitten* and there is something about a stoic woman with a katana that I identify with . Also, have you seen her arms?! They are super defined, I would LOVE to have arms like that!

So clearly this group is full of alot of Geeks!!! FINALLY I HAVE FOUND MY PEOPLE. Although, I still havent seen a Dr Who reference.

I chose Carol, cause I was carol last seasons challenge and I love that she grew into a strong self sufficient woman. She is bad-*kitten*!!! More women need to know that can be that way, without zombies to make them do it.

I think we need a mini challenge for this week to get us ready for the start of the show - any takers?

I'm so glad to hear it! :drinker:

I chose Daryl this time around. I was on Carl's team last time. He was intermediate and I loved it, we were a good team. I had planned on joining team Michonne this time around, because she was an advanced team last time and I wanted to practice my sword skills, but now that there aren't character teams anymore, I thought I would follow Daryl because he has angel wings on his jacket.

    Allons-y!

ETA: I'm up for a mini-challenge this week
  • My name is Jennifer and I chose Maggie. I live in Sherwood Park, Alberta (just outside Edmonton). I have been part of MFP for just over 2 years and have lost 30 lbs. I lift three days a week. Last year I completed NROLF and have done 5X5 and am now using a workout designed for me by my trainer. I also do ALOT of walking as we have a 8 month old yellow lab and I love getting 15,000 steps a day on my FitBit. Looking forward to what this challenge will bring and to watching Walking Dead!

    You are all fantastic.

I signed for Daryl. Because if someone had to die on the show, I would be most devastated if it were Daryl. Although Michonne would be a close second.

    Plus, you know, he's hot.

I would be so in for a mini-challenge.

I am Michonne. Because I have a thing for strong kick-*kitten* women. But I also love Daryl and Carol so it was a tough choice.

I am possibly up for a challenge this week. I'm a little crippled from falling off a horse and I am sick so planning on taking it easy for the next few days. What kind of challenge did you have in mind?

And also, for the geeks out there, have you seen this? http://www.zimbio.com/For+The+Win/articles/BTvQxsQ4ymr/Watch+Amazing+Fan+Made+Buffy+Vampire+Slayer
I think it might be the best thing ever. My favourite part is when Xander plays with Wash's dinosaur toys!

Because I was feeling ill this morning I actually just moved from my bed to the couch and watched two episodes of firefly before checking this board. I'm fairly certain that I am on the right team.

And also, over Halloween i want to do this: http://www.screamfest.ie/
have you come across it inky? Its a maze that you have to get through and find the safety bunker before the zombies catch you. Looks awesome.
