Graduation Announcements!

I started on July 20th and deviated my workouts around Week 6, as I felt I could run more and ran my first 5K distance today in a time of 38:13. My first 5K race is next Sunday (30th), the course next week is a little hilly but I'm hoping to complete it in less than 40 minutes. C25K has made me into a runner, going from being out of puff running for 90 seconds to running a 5k distance.
To C25K I say thank you!0 -
I've kept this thread saved for weeks now, waiting for the day I would finally post my graduation.
Today is that day!
I only repeated one day and I don't even remember which one it was (back in week 3 or 4, I think), I just kept on moving through. It took me a while longer than I predicted because of the sporadic weather patterns and then classes starting up again, but today I finished my last day in week 9 and actually lost track of time and ran for 33 minutes
My first 5k is on 13 October, which I'm very excited about, and in the meantime I'm beginning Bridge to 10K!
Thanks so much C25k! I never would've thought in my life I would be able to say "I am a runner", or even farther from that, "I am a distance runner."0 -
I am so pleased to announce that I graduated today! Yay! When I started back in July I struggled to run 1.5 mins and couldn't believe I would ever make it to W9! W5D3 was the milestone that made me believe I could actually do it. I am now going to continue running and try and improve my speed and distance. This programme is just amazing0

MY husband and I graduated on Sunday, 9/23. We run our official first 5k on Oct 6th. I'm a little nervous because I have no idea how long it will take. What if I can't make it? I'm planning on doing a few longer runs this week and the beginning of next week.0

Today I ran for a solid 39:45 and it was W9D3. I am so, so proud of myself - I can't believe I made it through. 4 weeks ago W5D3 was so intimidating - today, I practically doubled it. I was never a runner before - I didn't think I was built for it. But today? I know - no matter how slow - that I am a runner.0

Congratulations on your graduation!!0

Thank you - and thank you for all your encouragement even when I felt like beating myself up0

Wow. I actually stuck with it and finally made it through the WHOLE PROGRAM. Ran my third run of Week 9 this morning and it felt AWESOME!
I could barely finish the runs in Week 1. I couldn't see how I'd ever be able to run for 30 minutes straight, but I decided to just trust in the program. AND IT WORKS, even for fat girls. I started on Day 1 weighing 226, and I'm 207 now. I got good shoes and I listened to my body, slowing down when I hurt and resting when I was supposed to.
My mile is about 12:10 at this point, so I haven't actually ran 5K in those 30 minutes, but I trust that as I keep running, that time will go down. First 5K race is October 13, with about three more planned after that before the snow flies. This program ROCKS!0 -
my daughter and I completed C25k Sept 29, 2012. We did the program by the book
We're running 3 miles each time now. I did 4 miles once last week. We're going to work towards 10k now using this plan.

Sound reasonable?0 -
What is considered graduation? running a 5k in under 30 minutes?0
-
I think it can be whatever you consider graduating.
I finished the program yesterday and ran 3.24 (or 7, not sure miles in 30:42 seconds. I really enjoy running now!0 -
My last day was October 6th. It felt wonderful. I think back to that first run. It hurt so badly. I could barely make the 60 seconds of running time and I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it again. But mind over matter, I persevered. Each week, I continued to surprise myself. I run my first 5K on Saturday, October 13th and I'm not dreading it, but looking foward to it. This will be a HUGE milestone in my life.

My last day was a few weeks ago. I ran based on time and the 30 minutes was not 5k for me. Now I'm working on getting to the 5k0

First off congrats to everyone who has finished! I just finished W9D3 and for good measure I put the app on open run and I ran 5k in 37 minutes. I have NEVER ran 3 miles in a row in my life until today! I never thought in my life I would say I enjoy running. My first 5k is November 10th0

Now to work on my speed and maybe onto a 10k!0 -
Today 10-27-12 was my final C25K workout which also happened to be my first 5k race. I ran the local Susan G. Komen 5k in 35:02. Super excited! Small steps for large results!0

I graduated about 3 weeks ago! It felt awesome! I am now running 35-45 minutes, 3-4 days a week and loving it! I love running!0

I just ran my first 5k tonight. Actually, per Endomondo, it was 3.14 miles (just wanted a bit of padding in case the GPS was off a bit). I'm so excited.
I started out doing C25k but then joined a running group and didn't really follow the program closely after that. Just ran a bit farther each time without stopping to walk. I vividly remember how hard the first few weeks of C25k were for me so I'm really proud of myself.
Now I need to work on pace and speed. Will be running my first official 5k race later this month, a Turkey Trot. I don't explain to place in my age group but I'm going to be thrilled to go the distance.0 -
Week 9, Day 3 is done. Can jog greater than 30 minutes, but still have to take a quick 1 minute walk in there. First 5K is this weekend and will post how it goes.0

I finished today!!!!
I didn't run 5k because I ran the program too slow, but I finished Week 9 today, and when I get back from a trip, I'm going to start over and run faster this time.
I still don't feel like a runner, but hopefully the next time through the program will get me feeling more like it.
I am so proud of myself because when I started I could barely make it through one minute
Go me!0 -
