Hope everyone had a great weekend! I've laid off the running for a few days and my leg is starting to feel better but I still feel twinges every now and then - I'm worried because I don't want to lose the progress I made in the speed class, but I know this isn't going to heal unless I rest it - just not sure how soon I can start back, and how quickly I can pick up the mileage or # of days running. I did pull the class schedules for the gym, and I'm excited about adding in some variety - my goal for the upcoming week is to get in 2 workouts a day.
@korkster - congrats on your event walk! That's awesome!0 -
   I FINISHED MY EVENT WALK!!! :glasses: :glasses: :glasses:
Went up and over the Coronado Bridge. Very excited. I took a slow pace, took lots of pictures of the city, but I finished within my goal of 2 hours (94 min). And, for fun, I checked my weight after the walk and saw that I'm almost at my goal for the month! Yay!
Have a great day everyone! :flowerforyou:
*CHEERS!* Great job, you! :drinker:0 -
Wow, so apparently traveling an airports make me want to overindulge like nobody's business. Partially it's because of all the easy access and lack of really good options, but still. There was no need for that white chocolate macadamia nut cookie (except that it was delicious). I did work out a bit in my hotel room, though, and I've promised myself to use the fitness center tomorrow (and the pool - yay!).0

Hmm, not sure what's going on with the threads- we appear to have two going on simultaneously. However, whoop whoop! Rolled over into another thread! Ravenclaws, you rock! So supportive and even when there's not much activity in the common room it's always nice to know people are checking it and responding to everyone's posts. On that note- well done Korkster on your walk, Datenshi I am jealous of your hiking, and Kelly, I always over indulge in airports- good on your for getting some exercise in to counteract it a bit though!!
Don't forget to check in today, I am feeling smug because I lost the weight I gained last week, and a little bit more. Going to try and have an awesome week and get even lower this time. Happy Monday Ravenclaws X0 -
Happy Monday Ravenclaws! I'm continuing my 4am silent work out sessions; I'm not sure whether I want this to become a habit or not. It's productive, but it's also rather ridiculous. I have a of work this week (Great for the diet) and a few potential dinner dates (Certified diet ruin-ers). We'll see how it goes. Good luck to everyone of you this week and keep up the amazing work!0
-
Hey guys, sorry I have been missing in action, I now weigh 45.6 kgs not sure what that is in pounds.0
-
So... this is the new thread, right?0

new thread :drinker: we rock!
So I'm thinking about signing up for a Warrior Dash event in August. There is one in NY about 1-1.5 hours away from me. I just don't know if I can do it (self doubt creeping in). It looks like a blast and something that will definately challenge me and push me- but what if I suck and can't do it? Its 3.2 miles so if it was straight running no problem- but there are crazy obstacles like rope climbing, crawling under barbed wire through mud, leaping over fire, jumping over cars, balancing on wood, going through waist high water, etc- basically anything they can throw at you they do. I don't know . . . .
Starting running again this morning- only 3.6 miles today but I felt great and had my best time yet (29:25- so a 8:13 mile). Legs feel . . . okay, not great I still get some twinges in the calf muscles of my "good" leg, but not what I would call pain.0 -
@momofJandA, that sounds like a BLAST! Who cares if you can't do it all the way? It'll be fun just trying.0
-
I agree with korkster. At least if you try it, you'll be able to see what you can do.0
-
MomOfJandA- DEFINITELY do it! Sounds awesome and think how amazing it'll feel afterwards! I'd be really jealous!0
-
Good morning Ravenclaws!!!!
no running this morning (raining)- maybe I'll become an every other day runner!0 -
momofJandA - I say do it! I've got faith in you Surprise yourself!
As to everyone else, hope you're having a great week! I'm off to my second day of job shadowing. I bought some food yesterday so that I could eat in my room rather than eating out. Hopefully that'll help curb some of my overeating habits while I'm here. The cravings have been in full swing since I took off. Maybe it has that 'vacation' feel to it,I don't know, but I haven't been doing well.
Definitely going to work out tonight if nothing else, though.0 -
Hey everyone! The common room seems empty today! I keep forgetting about the exercise owl. Maybe I'll remember it for tomorrow.0
-
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today has been a fat and lazy day for me I promise it won't happen again! Somehow, I am not working tomorrow which means I'll have time for tanning and training! Yay!
@momofJandA-Do it! I just looked it up, and I am seriously considering trying it too. It looks like a ton of fun, and training would be really intense!0 -
Good evening:)
Hope everyone has a great week. Mine started out crappy, but I am going to turn it all around tomorrow0 -
Really having trouble getting some good sleep. Maybe I need to exercise more? Not sure. FitBit shows that I'm getting less time in bed, and I'm waking up more.
Hmmm... looks like there's a hip hop class on Thursday nights. Maybe I should change the workouts a bit and re-introduce dance again. Zumba is good, but it'd be fun to have a change.0 -

I took a hip hop class back in the fall and it was so much fun! The only thing is while you're doing it, it doesn't seem as good of a work out as zumba but you'll probably be sore afterwards.0 -
@kelly- I definitely agree that bringing your own food will help curb the over eating- I forgot my lunch on Monday and resorted to corn dogs at 7-11 (although at least I walked to the store and back so somehow that made it ok to me) and then today i was at a conference where lunch was provided- didn't go over but ate a bag of cheese doodles that I would NOT have normally eaten. I hate relying on someone else for my food or going out for it . . . for me I don't make good "out of the house" food choices0

Congratulations to our prefects this week.... srp2011 and Korkster! Whoop! Two really high totals, higher then the last few week's winners for sure, so great work from these two!
Also congratulations to... blackhawkgirl91, brittlynn07, CivicSista, karinane, Korkser, me (smugly), matchamatcha, MomofJandA, rosesquelettique, srp2011 and TwiFan5. All losing last week, go us!!!0 -
Great job srp2011 and Korkster! And to everyone who lost! I am back to work today, thank goodness! Days off with nothing to do make it so much harder to stick with a food plan. Also, running around after screaming toddlers burns way more calories than sitting at home on the computer. Good luck to everyone and keep up the good work!0
-
I'm back! I was supposed to have a better internet connection while on vacation, but that didn't really work out. I can't believe a week has already passed!0
-
Hmmm... rewards of doing good include doing more work. Reminds me of Buffy when she gets an A on her paper, and then is selected to lead a discussion group. Her complaint went something like "more work? Can't I get a cookie instead?". Something to that effect. I'll have to think about the exercise thing. Give me a day? I feel like everything has been done.
I've been trying to keep up with the morning walks.
Oh! Did I tell you what I'm getting for my birthday? When I first started MFP, I had to say good-bye to my bread. Yes, I still eat bread, but it's only like 1-2 slices a day. It's not fresh, baked rolls, French bread, sourdough, etc... I can eat bread... nonstop. I *LOVE* bread.
So, back when I started in October, and felt the cravings of my bread calling me, I swore that on my birthday, I would eat bread. Nothing. But. Bread. Well, the bakery is booked, and I shall have my bread with candles on it.
Don't worry. I'll work out and take it in portions, but man oh man I cannot wait to see & smell my bread.0 -

Awesome! Congrats to those losses!
I'm worried about this week, but even if it all goes poorly, I'll just have to rebound next week.
And congrats to our prefects, too! Sorry about the 'more work' korkster, lol. If you want to pass it off, I'm sure someone could help think of something or you could go back to an old favorite. Oh, and your birthday bread sounds amazing! I hope you enjoy it :drinker:0 -
Okay, I got it.
What about abs? Summer is just around the corner, and before you know it, it'll be time to bust out those swimsuits and suck in those guts.
That won't be a problem is there's no gut there.
So... how about 1 OWL for each day you spend some time working on your stomach region. You can do sit-ups, dance moves that affect the abs, or whatever other workout that affects that area. You can even hold in your stomach for periods throughout the day to engage those muscles.
That way, we can all work on it and people can get excited to do their abs.0 -
Thanks all! I think I thought of a reasonable food challenge:
In the spirit of making small changes in our everyday behaviors, which if done regularly will add up to big, permanent lifestyle changes: Substitute a serving of fruit or vegetables for a less healthy snack or meal component - for example, instead of grabbing chips to go with the sandwich at lunch, get/take a piece of fruit, or cut up raw veggies instead, or have a piece of fruit instead of the sugary mid-afternoon snack, or at dinner, instead of a starchy side dish, have another serving of vegetables, or cut down the amount of pasta in a dish and add an extra vegetable serving, or choose fruit instead of dessert...etc... I think you get the idea, and everyone should be able to personalize this - one OWL for each day you substitute at least one healthier fruit/veggie option for something less healthy you normally would have grabbed or used in the dish.0 -
Happy Friday everyone! It's a long weekend, yay! I'm planning on heading out to the lake and getting some less-than-usual exercise in: water-skiing! I think the challenges our new prefects came up with are perfect. There's no internet at the cabin (might not be able to post), but good luck to everyone this weekend and let's keep up the great work!0

Happy Friday!0
