Welcome to our weekly challenge group! We are always open to new members. You will find we are very supportive here. Please, feel free to join us and introduce yourself! Also, invite whoever you want to come. We only ask that everyone stay supportive of each other. :)

I'll start, I'm ladygloria and one of two current thread starters and now moderators of this group. My real life name is Lisa. My MFP twin is MAK_01 (our other group moderator) who you will find to be awesome! We are here to help motivate and support. I'm certain this forum will make us better able to support one another in life. So, grab a yoga ball (because hey, chairs aren't good for your back), a glass of water, and enjoy the fun!

I have three children and a husband who's in the marines. I taught middle school, until I had to move across country for his job. For now, I'm supporting my family through their transitions. Life can be interesting.

A little bit of weight is very evident on someone under 5 foot. I've lost 17 lbs, went down 4 pants sizes, all thanks to this group! Now I want to be toned up, defined, and strong.

Hi!! My name is Gina and I've been struggling with my weight all my life, some periods of time worse than others. I'm 52 years old with 2 children, 26 and 23 and a wonderful husband who supports me no matter what my weight. I've been part of the mini-challenge for a number of weeks and appreciate all the unconditional support the members are so willing to give. I read all the posts and try to be as supportive as I have time, but right now that's not much time because I've got my husband's niece and her 2 children living with us while she goes through a divorce. This has changed my usual routines and I now spend a lot of time trying to help them, although I feel blessed to be in a position to do this. I was out of touch last week, but am looking forward to getting back into the challenge. I haven't lost a ton of weight, but I have gone down a pant size and am happy to report that I bought new pants today and have already removed all my bigger size pants from my closet

Welcome to new members and hello to current mini-challenge members. Thank you as always to Lisa and Meg for keeping this wonderful group going.

Happy Birthday Philosohoe (did I spell it right?) Enjoy every minute of it!!!
  • Hello friends! I have been MIA a couple of weeks due to a lot of life "stuff".

My name is Sharon and I am a teacher of art to grades K-8. I am married with two children, 29 and 16 and one grandson, age 2. It is great that we all live on the same property although in different homes  , so we see each other often.

I have PCOS which caused my insulin resistance, which was just diagnosed this summer (the IR). So, it been a lifestyle change learning how to eat and LIKE low carb/high protein.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone better and traveling on this healthy journey together! :flowerforyou:

I am a 27 year old newlywed who was just diagnosed with PCOS and I want to have children. I am trying to lose weight so that I can have children and i want to make sure that I don't become diabetic as a result of my disorder. I want to overcome this and move on. I am sticking to a 1200 calorie diet with a certain amount of carbs, proteins, and fats. I worry about dieting, because i was only successful at it once and I wouldn't even count it as successful because I gained the weight plus some back. It is my hope that starting small habits everyday will be the key to losing weight and keeping it off.

Welcome! I too have PCOS as well as hypothyroidism. When I was first diagnosed at the age of 26, I was told it would be impossible for me to have kids. Due to the fact that I don't ovulate on my own, I did have to see a reproductive endocronologist when I was ready the first time and am happy to say that I did have my first child at the age of 30. I'm now 33 and trying again. So, it is possible to not only lose weight, but also have children. Stay positive.

Hi All. My name is Adriana and I have been on MFP since July. I have been in the mini goal group for several months now and find that it is the best group here. I have three children, 10 - 8 - 5. They are my world. I have been struggling with my weight since the birth of my first son. I have never really done anything about it besides wishing it would go away until now. 4 years ago I did do Adipex and lost 40lbs but since I did not change my life style it all came right back after I stopped taking the pill.

I am making small changes and hoping that they will all add up to a big difference. I started my weight loss journey in June and lost 14lbs in the first month. Now I keep bouncing up and down the same 5 lbs and it is very discouraging. If it were not for this group I would have already given up.

    Thanks for being there!

Hi everyone! I'm Jenn, aka Philo, Philosohoe, (yes danlyn you spelled it right & THANK YOU for the happy bd!)

I've been on MFP since July. Miss Dee's weekly mini goal thread was the VERY FIRST forum I ever joined, and I have loved it every day. This week has been a little crazy for me because it was my birthday on Friday, which of course turns into a bd weekend EXTRAVAGANZA, so I have been a little MIA for a few days, but in general, I make sure to check in with the group every day. The Mini-Goals group has been so amazing for helping me to stay encouraged, on track, and not feel overwhelmed by how far I have to go to reach a healthier me. I'm so grateful that this group has become such a positive and motivating place to be. (I'm right there with you la-nanita--some days would totally be give up days if it weren't for the wonderful support of these awesome peeps--including YOU!!)

I'm so happy to be part of the BEST GROUP EVER!! It is especially awesome that I get to be in the group with my best-y bff Ittee who had to move 3000 miles away to be with her hubby. This is another way that I can stay close and feel like we still are in each other's daily lives even though we don't always get to talk every day because of the time difference and our crazy schedules. For that reason alone, along with a million others, I'm totally hooked on the MINI-GOALS WEEKLY CHALLENGE GROUP.:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

:drinker: Now let's get the party started!!!!!!:drinker:

  • Hi everyone, my name is Dawn. I am back on MFP after about a 6 week break due to injuries, vacation, and taking care of my Mom after surgery. I was 1 1/2 lbs from my initial goal weight when I stopped, but now have added 4 lbs back on. A week of eating in NYC can really take it's toll. But worth every calorie! Going to take things much slower this time. I would like to lose the 5 1/2 lbs by Christmas but not sure how realistic that is right now. We'll see. My ultimate goal would be an additional 5 lbs.

Hi everyone!! My name is Stephanie, I'm 26 years old and I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I am recently married (hence the profile pic) and work as a paralegal. Some of my hobbies are scrapbooking, playing with my golden retriever Emma, and baking (the bane of my weight loss).

I am so glad we are all getting to know each other. I have been getting to know everyone from the mini threads slowly, but this is great!
I am making small changes and hoping that they will all add up to a big difference.
I am the same way right now. Through my weight loss journey I have found this quote really helpful:

"Transformation is not five minutes from now; it's a present activity. In this moment you can make a different choice, and it's these small choices and successes that build up over time." - Jillian Michaels

Eta: Ok, now that we are all getting to know each other, Philosohoe, I have to ask - where did you come up with your username?? It's so intriguing.

Maureen, I’ve been in Title 1 schools for the last 10 years as a school psychologist and school counselor. Now that I’ve moved into the central office position, I miss the kids most of all. Enjoy it!

Adriana, I’m so happy to know your first name. It’s funny how people know each other by handles, but often never know the real person. Small changes do add up quickly. Before you know it, the small changes will equal a total transformation.

Jenn, this is the most supportive group ever. I’m sorry that your BFF is so far away, but so glad you both are here. You have increased the fun and I enjoy having you around. Glad you had a good birthday.

Fbnngrss, you’re welcome. There are a lot of women on this board with PCOS. Everyone of us is different. Don’t let your doctors convince you that this makes anything impossible for you.

Hi Dawn! Welcome back to MFP. I think slow weight loss is better for keeping it off. You can do this! Glad you’re here.
Stephanie, welcome! Love the dress in your pic! Congrats on the marriage. Love the quote. Thank you!

LOL!! You guys are so funny. It's a nickname that started when I was in college. I was a Philosophy major, and I had a tendency to date other philosophy majors, so it's a shortened version of Philosophy-hoe. In polite company, I just say it's because I love philosophy so much, which I totally do. Once I started doing stuff online, it was a username that no one else had, so I stuck with it.

Hello my name is Paulette and I am 61 years old. I just happened onto this group and it looks like a good group to join. I have had weight issues all my life. In June of 2010, I started on a program that was an online study for lifestyle changes. Doing that I changed my lifestyle and I lost 80 pounds. Unfortunately it was a one year study and at the end of the year they cut me off. But this was one of the sites they suggested to carry on the diary aspect and support.

Since June of 2011, when I joined MFP, I have been up and down by several pounds but now am down 6 pounds from when I started MFP. I am not sure how this group thing works but all that have posted seem like people that I would like support from and would like support. I had some health issues that stopped me from exercising but now I am back on track and want to get back to the regular activity levels I had before. I look forward to the next step.

By the way, I write down my food during the weekends and have totals but only post on weekdays for now. Thanks for keeping this group open.

Welcome Shubha and Paulette! We are always happy to have positive supportive new folks join us. You might find it helpful to share your weekly goals on the goals thread. Your week is whatever works for you, and you don't have to wait for the next one to join, so pop on over and post some goals!

Shubha, a lot of us struggle with feeling like we're doing everything that we're supposed to do but not seeing progress. Some of the tips that have been helpful are: watch your sodium, drink plenty of water, make sure your net calories are too LOW. Every person is different, and there's no way to know what your loss trigger will be, but if you're really feeling frustrated, you might want to talk to your doctor or a nutritionist about what would be some healthy goals for you. Good luck!:drinker:

Paulette, congratulations on your previous 80lb loss! That is awesome, and hopefully mfp and our little group here can help you maintain or continue your losing goals!:smokin:

    Hello everyone!
I joined this group awhile ago but later when I realized I hadn't introduced myself I couldn't figure out where to find the group! This morning I was very happy to find the button at the top of my profile and am now here to introduce myself. I 'met' several of these lovely ladies when I joined MissDee's challenge.
My name is Cathy, I am a 35 year old stay-at-home mom. I homeschool all my beautiful children. Four girls ages 18 (next month), 16, 13 and 7, and four boys ages 14, 11, 9 and 5. With every pregnancy I gained wieght for a grand total of 131 pounds of gain. I am very happy to have lost over half that. I have lost it all while here on MyFitnessPal. I have been on here since June 2010. The last several months I have been too busy and lost my focus. But I am back on track and hope to stay.

Everyone have a blessed week! :flowerforyou:

Oops! I forgot to mention my wonderful best friend that I have been married to for almost 19 years! He loves that fact that I am finding a healthier me and supports me everywhere he can. If fact my whole family has, I don't think I would have gotten this far in my loss if I didn't have them all cheering me on!

Hi! I'm Ana, I didn't think to much about the username :P
I'm 32 years old and I'm looking to lose weight since last year.

In june I developed DVT and I'm still recovering from it.
It has been a really rough year for me, and my journey to lose weight has been difficult.
I hope this group help me to regain control about my diet and exercise.

I'm living in the US, but I'm from Mexico. Therefore, sorry in advance about my English :)

That was helping.. my current goal is to watch my calories intake.
I found this Food diary really helping as it tells me how many calories I have eaten and how much I can still have
my current challenge is to keep the Net calories as minimum as possible and trying for that.
I do regular workouts 5 days a week so I think I need to change my diet routine to make some differences in my body.
Lets see how it goes :drinker:

Hello, My name is Kelly and this is the first group that I've joined on MFP. I chose this group because I need to focus on one challenge at a time. I get overwhelmed when I start looking at too many challenges, so I just give up for a while until I'm ready to start again. Can't wait to get started. Thanks for letting me join this group. :)

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry! I went back and read my post and realized that I forgot to say "NOT too low" when talking about net calories. There are a lot of good threads that you can read in the "General Diet & Weight Loss Help" section of the main forum.
