2nd Trimester

sugarbaby - you look so cute in your picture!!!! Try to stop being so hard on yourself, just do the best you can! I stopped weighing myself everyother day, it was driving me crazy.
I also experienced some spotting this week, nothing major, just light pink discharge but it was unexpected. I have an appointment on Friday so I'm going to try to not think about it anymore than I have to. Like we don't have enough to worry about already!0 -
sugarbabie - I think you look great! Each woman carries differently, so I wouldn't worry about how you look vs. how your friends look. Plus, maybe smaller belly = less chance of stretch marks? I was frightened after seeing my friend's 38 week belly the other day, really hoping I don't get any! I hope everything is okay with the spotting, keep us posted!
Faughorn - I'm also 5'9", about 15 1/2 weeks and was up 8 lbs at the doc's last week. I look thick in the middle, too, with a slight pooch under my belly button. I'm home for a visit this week and nobody can tell I'm pregnant, had to show my jeans held up with a hair elastic to prove I've gained weight since I last saw them at xmas!
Finally caved in and bought 1 pair of maternity pants for work, and picked up a couple of t-shirts at Old Navy. My fave gym shirt is getting snug around the middle, and the others are getting to be a bit too short now that I'm thicker in the middle and my boobs are massive. Still holding out on the jeans, the hair elastic is working for one pair, and I have another pair of "pull on denim" that I can probably get about another month or two out of (bought them pre-weight loss).
Home for a visit for the week, and it's so nice to have time with family and friends and time away from the office! The one thing I don't like about coming home, though, is that the air pressure is different and it rains more, so I've had a wicked headache for 3 days. I know my docs have said Tylenol is okay, but I really don't want to take anything, and I never found it was a drug that worked for me anyway, I was always an ibuprofen taker. We had dinner at my in-laws place tonight and it was a *kitten* show, as usual. MIL kept giving my nephew chocolates after BIL/SIL told her not to, especially since my nephew was misbehaving. FIL looked over at me and said, "This is your future!" to which I said "No way!". I've been watching and learning since my nephew was born 5 years ago, and I will not tolerate the b/s BIL/SIL put up with when it comes to the power struggle with the in-laws (particularly MIL). They're constantly undermining and questioning their parenting efforts, and I think the lack of support from the in-laws is a bit of a contributing factor as to why my nephew/niece are so poorly behaved when they're at MIL/FIL's house. BIL/SIL say "no" to something, in-laws immediately question them or say "yes", right after being told that it's not their decision. Ugh. So frustrating. My friends know I can go on about my in-laws forever, so I'll stop now. They're nice, but..... :grumble:0 -
jls/faughorn- I'm in a similar boat. I'm 5'10" and have put on about 4/5 lbs so far. I have the same pooch as you jls- just a little bit under my belly button. It feels like it should be bigger based on how my pants are fitting! (or should I say how they are not fitting!) Nobody can tell I'm pregnant either, unless they can tell and nobody is being honest with me haha!
sugarbabie- My sister's in law stretch marks terrified me. She gained tons of weight and hasn't lost any of it 4 years later... I guess that eases my mind a little. She's not active and I am. I have started using belly butter though. Every mom I know has told me it's never too early to start!
As for clothes, I bought some maternity shirts at a garage sale this weekend. I'm still squeezing in to my favorite jeans. They fit great in the legs... not so much in the mid section. I'm in denial of switching over because I love to wear tall heels and my jeans are perfect for them!
jls- good luck with the inlaws. My MIL has never really liked me (I forced her son to live in sin...blah blah blah) But now I'm carrying her grandbaby. She never asks how I'm feeling just constantly reminds me to take care of HER grandchild and to stop doing anything that would hurt the baby. She also told me how tacky I am for helping plan my own baby shower... I'm one of the first of my friends to have a baby- nobody really knows what they're doing. I love helping and planning but how dare I be involved in my own party. Boo to her!
So I have finally caved and decided to tell my boss. I have a meeting with him tomorrow morning to share the good news. I'm not really sure what to expect. I work in a "man's world" so it should be interesting the comments I get.
I hope everyone else is feeling well. I have a full appetite But I've also been having some pretty rough times mentally. I go through ups and downs. I had a mini-meltdown Tuesday night because I felt and looked fat. My poor husband didn't know what to say or do.0 -
Well that was a pointless appointment. All they did was make me wait 45min after my scheduled appt time to weigh me, take my blood pressure, listen to her heartbeat and tell me to not gain this much this time next month.. Eff you. I go back in two weeks for the glucose test which is when they'll check my stitch then to make sure everything is holding together..0

Hey there everyone!
jls- I feel your pain with the in-laws. Although my boyfriend and I are not married, his family is very involved and calls me often now that I'm pregnant, and they are a very strong italian catholic family so I get ALOT of unwanted advice on the pregnancy and how I should raise her once she's here, and his mother wants to stay at our house when the baby comes while I'm on Maternity Leave... that's where I drew the line lol Thanks but no thanks lady lol
BeckyJill7- I WISH atleast one pair of my pre-pregnancy jeans still fit, even with a hair-tye, all of my weight gain seems to have just settled on my thighs and butt so my jeans won't go up past my knees lol So I have a breakdown just about everytime that I'm getting dressed to see friends because I feel so sloppy and large, but I try to stay active to make myself feel better. Good luck with your boss! Let us know how it goes!
AFM- I went to my doctor yesterday afternoon after I had some spotting and everything checked out ok, my placenta is in normal position, cervix is closed, baby's heartbeat is a strong 154, etc. So she just instructed me to try to take it easy (no sex or exercise for a few days), but she did say that I could walk so I may go for a walk after work since I haven't in a few days.0 -
Just had my 2nd appointment- just to hear the heartbeat and that was about it! Scheduled my ultrasound for June 7th (when I'm almost 20 weeks), and we will be hopefully (if baby cooperates) having our gender reveal Pink/Blue Party on the 9th! I'm excited. Although, I had a dream the other night that it was a boy, so I'm going with that.
BeckyJill- using the lotion is good- but I think a lot of it is just hereditary. I wasn't very religious with my applying of the cocoa butter, and yet I was blessed with no stretch marks!! But I'm sure fitness/staying healthy has something to do with it as well.
I know what you all mean about in-laws!! My mother-in-law is a huge help, but she can still be a bit trying at times. I don't know how many times she gives my daughter candy when I've asked her not to. We stand up to her a lot, but sometimes we just have to pick our battles.
Alright- I have to go. I'm excited cause my Dr gave me the ok to go golfing- we are leaving this evening for an overnight golf trip. Hope everyone has a good weekend!0 -
My mom is springing for a 16 week gender ultrasound! I go tonight at 8pm, hope to find out what the little kiddo is, if it isn't clear then they'll let me go back for free later to find out.0

Hello everyone!
I haven't been on in a while but happy to see everyone is doing well! At about 8 weeks i started putting on a pound a week and happy to say in the last 6 weeks, i've only gained 2 lbs, yay me! The way i was trending i was gonna be one big momma. I'm finally feeling the baby kick all the time, hubby is yet to feel it though but i'm sure in the next coulple weeks he will. He asked me to discribe what it felt like and not knowing what to say, i said poke the inside of your cheek with your tongue. It's kinds like that but not really at all! hehehe! How do you discribe something like that? So i said poke your belly, that's as close to explaining what it's like that i could come up with.
We haven't started buying anything for the nursary yet. We are just so busy right now, i think we will wait till July. My son plays football and that usually goes 3 nights a week plus one day on the weekend but they get the month of July off.
Anyone with big plans for the summer? We won't be going far, just visiting some relatives. I'll be heavily pregnant come summer so not sure I want to be to far away from my creature comforts! I'm already feeling pressure in belly, waddling at times and frequent urination but still have 17 weeks to go! It seems to be flying by now but dreading the heat of summer, when i'm usually basking in it.
Anyways, have a great weekend!

Found out that we're having a boy! Then my mom went a little nuts at the yard sales this weekend purchasing boy clothes  It was so neat getting to see him in 3D moving around! Now we can call him by his name instead of saying "it" the whole time :laugh:0 -
Hello ladies. I thought it was time to join this group, I'm 13w5d. My name is Kiley, I'm 28 and this will be our first child! We had an ultrasound last week, and everything looked good, the heart beat was 163. I go again at the end of the month to see the doctor for the first time, and then hopefully in a month or less I will get an ultrasound to see the baby's gender! I was fairly lucky in the first trimester, just was really tired but no major morning sickness. I am to the awkward point now where I feel fat and most of my pants are tight but I'm not "showing" yet. I've gained about 4-5lbs but it's all belly! I'm sure that will come soon enough, I'm just glad I have a bit more energy now because I really need to finish grad school before I have this baby! But it's difficult when I can't sleep very well, hopefully that doesn't get any worse.0

Hi ladies! I'm moving on over here as well! I'm Julia, due Nov 16th, with our second kiddo (though she's measuring a week ahead, so not sure if they'll end up adjusting my due date, even though I'm certain on my LMP date). And yes, we're saying she already, as last week at my ultrasound the tech was already able to see girl parts! (Or well, the tech said there's a 20-30% chance it's a boy, but she's pretty sure it's a girl!) We'll hopefully be able to confirm or deny at my 'big' ultrasound in a month or so. So far it's been a breeze of a pregnancy, a very welcome change from my first which was pretty difficult. I'm also hoping for a successful VBAC this time around, and I'm thankful to have a supportive hospital and midwives. And hooray for the 2nd tri! :happy:0

I also think my little one is measuring ahead. I'm pretty sure my due date couldn't be before 11/17, but at the u/s they moved it to 11/14, so I think the little one is just big. Glad to see you are doing well, it's nice they gave you some indication of gender, they didn't do that with mine, but it won't be too long!0 -
Hi Ladies I am new to MFP and thought I would join here....I am currently 23 weeks with baby #7--due Sept. 8. I have 6 boys (13, 11, 9 this coming Sat, 4, 3, and 1--all boys). The u/s showed a GIRL, but I am having a hard time belieiving it is really a girl. I am finally feeling a little more like myself and can actually get things done around the house. The sickness and daily migraine headaches lasted a lot longer than any of my other pgs (20 weeks). I have currently gained 17 lbs...UGH! Which unfortunately is pretty normal for my pgs. I am exercising every week day if I can and am hoping that will at the very least make the post partum weightloss a little easier. I am really trying to be mindful of what I eat to help keep the weight gain the rest of my pg at a minimum.0

Nothing new to report. I have my glucose test scheduled May 25th, they will also check my cerclage then. DH might be able to come home Memorial Day weekend, if not sooner do to some issues on the job that may have to be shut down for a few weeks.. which I'll be glad to have him home for a bit, but that means he's laid off again.. Anyway.I'm 27weeks tomorrow ladies...time for me to head to the 3rd trimester See ya there!0

Welcome to the newer ladies!! And congratulations, Faughorn on your lil' boy. I find out June 8th (at almost 20 weeks):)0

Good to see new faces and friends
I'll be 24 weeks this friday, and I think I'm getting a bigger belly because I FINALLY had a stranger ask me yesterday is I was pregnant (would have been embarassing if I wasn't pregnant lol). Last time I checked I was up 18 pounds, and I feel bigger but I'm not going to weigh myself again until next week.
I've been eating a little better, more veggies, less junk, and I'm active everyday. I did a prenatal kettlebell workout routine this morning and walked at an incline for 35minutes this morning.
My next doctor's appointment is the 24th so I'm going to ask then when I'm supposed to schedule for my glucose test. Hope everyone is feeling great!0 -
Jillsie - Definitely know we'll have to pick our battles when it comes to the in-laws! Luckily my husband feels the same way I do about MIL giving our nephew/neice chocolate all the time. MIL is morbidly obese, full of health issues, hoardes chocolate in several places around the house, and refuses to listen to anybody when it comes to basically anything at all. She just does what she wants, whether it is to herself or to others. It's sad, really. She's a nice, smart woman, but doesn't look after her health. It took having a pea-sized piece of skin cancer cut out of her cheek for her to finally realize she can't sit out in the sun all day (she now uses an umbrella but still refuses to wear sunscreen), so we have no idea what it will take to make her realize that she needs to get smart about her weight, too. :frown:
Faughorn - Yay for the boy! I've always pictured myself having a boy first, so I have it stuck in my head that mine is a boy, too. Husband and I agree on more boy names than girl names, so the name picking will be easier for a boy. Won't find out til the birth, though!
Not much new here. Back to reality after being home for a week. We had a good visit and it was nice to tell most people in person about the baby. Everybody said I still didn't look pregnant, but by the end of the week Mom said she could notice a difference. I think the baby had a growth spurt last week, I had a few really hungry days and I can totally see a difference in my profile (naked, not so much with clothes). I'm starting to look like a pear! I've been trying really hard not to gain weight too quickly, but I'm not doing very well. I'm up 4lbs in two weeks, even with eating well and keeping active  . I'm still eating maintenance cals, some days a bit more if I'm still hungry. I'm afraid if I up my cals to gain 1/2 lb a week I'll balloon! Hopefully everything balances out, I'm concerned about how much I gain, but more concerned about the health risks of gaining too much.
There was some talk on some of the threads a while back about stretch marks and creams for bellies, anybody have advice for boobs? Mine are incredibly itchy on the sides and underneath. I've always been told regular body lotion is a no-no because the skin on the bust is thinner, but some days I've been using it anyway out of desperation. Anybody else have itchy boobs?0 -
Here is the link to the video of our gender reveal party from 5/12 if anyone is interested in seeing a crazy pregnant woman lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hM5VpUEKDZE
It's just over 2 minutes so not very long. I was in shock. Even though I had been saying boy the whole time (from the beginning) I still thought it would probably be a girl since we have a girl and my BIL has 3 girls. So needless to say I am freaking out!0 -
Just checking in
I'm 16 weeks 3 days (up around 5 lbs still)- and I'm on the countdown for my next u/s. It's not for another month but we'll hopefully find out the sex at that appointment. I'm so excited! I've been busy planning but not actually doing anything. We're going to have a house full this weekend because we're having a 30th birthday party for my husband. Both our families live out of town so a lot of them are staying with us.
I hope everyone is feeling well and having a great day!0 -
kerrbear79- oh my gosh that video is the cutest thing EVER!! If I ever have a 2nd child I think I'll reveal my gender like that too, that is so awesome. Congrats!0

Awww thank you! I say it's soooooooo worth it. It was awesome & so thrilling finding out that way. I didn't react that way when we found out with our daughter at the ultrasound. Of course I was happy but I wasn't jumping up & down, I couldn't lol. But having to wait just from a Wednesday to a Saturday made it seem like forever, but made it even better for some reason. One thing I would do differently, if anyone ever does this same thing, is I would've had one of us hold our daughter so she could've been a part of it. She is only 22 months & doesn't understand it, but it would've been sweet. Also if we have a 3rd we will cut the cake facing everyone else so we all find out at exact time & not us those few seconds beforehand.0 -
Hi Ladies... I am moving over from the 1st trimester board... Today I am 14 weeks! I am feeling pretty good now that morning sickness is just about gone.. Just been tired lately, but aside from that not to bad overall! Hope everyone has a great weekend!0

Hi everyone! My name is Chrystal. I'm 14w1d, due Nov 15 with our first. I'm not a huge poster, but I've been here reading.
I go in Monday for an early gender ultrasound. My OB charges $75, and to me it is completely worth it. I think it is a boy because of the crazy dreams I've been having. I'm also still having problems eating. I have some major food aversions and can't eat like I normally do. I can't even see meat right now. I've lost weight, I'm down to 110lbs (5'2") and I just can't seem to even gain some water weight. My OB says I am fine for now as long as I do not loose more. I'm hopping that I'll be able to eat normally again soon. I'm also very tired and not sleeping well. I'm a stomach sleeper and that is starting to get hard with my boobs getting tender.
It's nice to meet all you ladies!!0 -

Hello. I hope you get to feeling better soon and get your appettite back. I'm also a stomach sleeper and now I can't really sleep comfortably, and have not been sleeping well.0 -
kerrbear79--Loved your gender reveal video! I would have loved to do something like that, but both of our families live at least 2 hours away in different directions.
Welcome to all the ladies moving over from the 1st tri board! Yay for the 2nd trimester!0 -
So I finally called my doctor after nearly 24 hours of bad pain on my lower right side. Turns out I have a UTI and kidney stone. Fun fun stuff. Doctor put me on antibiotics three times a day and Tylenol 3, which I'm not completely comfortable taking. She said it's better to get the prescription filled than to wake up with unbearable pain at 2am. I haven't taken it yet, because it makes me want to puke. Waiting on the antibiotics to absorb a bit first, in case I really do.
My weigh has jumped up quite a bit at this point, which bothers me, but my doctor reassures me I'm fine. I'm relieved that the baby is still doing fine, and they said I'm not having preterm labor, like they suspected.
Who knows what this girl with turn out like when she gets here, she's been 4 times as much trouble as my first. LOL.
Anyone ever had to pass a kidney stone while pregnant?

This is my first pregnancy, and I am a chronic stone former. I've had 4 surgeries for removal in the past. I fully expect to have more stones form during my pregnancy. Because I have a history of stones I'll be watched. But I'm pretty sure one is doing its thing in my right kidney right now. Unfortunately, while pregnant all they can do is treat any pain and monitor your kidney function. If the stone starts blocking too much, they will then consider the risk of surgery. As long as the dose of pain medication is not overly high there is not as much risk to the baby. It is definitely better to be on top of the pain then running to the ER for relief, the meds they give you there are much stronger.
Do you know what size the stone is? The smaller it is the more likely it is to pass on its own. Have they discussed activity with you? Some doctors will prefer that you limit your activity to prevent passing, others will encourage activity to encourage it to pass.
Like I said, I've had tons. Feel free to message me if you have questions or concerns.0
