*also tapering off this week in prep for the half on the 14th - hoping my knee is in full working condition by then! (my leg is currently swollen from knee to toe)0 -
Hey Wiglet...how long does it take to cover 12 miles? I never done that before.
Sundays are my long run day with the group training for the Rock the Parkway Half Marathon (only 11 days away now). This was my very first 12mile run, and it took near 3 hours for me keeping up about a 14:06min/mi pace. (My knee is back to complaining loudly right now, so am gonna have to find other training outlets this week... also going to try taping with some KT Tape another runner told me about).
Thanks all for the encouragement!!

You are whooping amazing. Hope you break per mile run in 10 days. I am preparing for my 1st 10k in late June. Pretty amateur .
[/quote]
Aww. Thanks. You should be plenty ready by June for a 10K (and that certainly is not amateurish!!). I had serious doubts in December when I signed up for this half that I'd be ready, but now I really think I can at least finish (and maybe even within my goal time!) I have two 10Ks later in the year that I am shooting for after I am done with this half.0 -

Wednesday 1.83 miles running
Today I ran the first mile way too fast for me (9:30), and kinda petered out. Didn't help that I was was passing my road, and it was just too easy to turn and go home. I know if I had kept running at a slower pace, it would have started feeling better, but oh well. Don't want to make this a habit!!!
I am getting too focused on increasing my pace. I think I just need to set an easier pace and just run. The other day when I ran 5 miles, I pretty much started at a 11 min/mile pace, and was able to keep up that average through the whole run. Maybe I'll run again tomorrow to make up for it.0 -
EVERYONE is doing so well this week - I can't even try to namecheck anyone b/c I don't want to accidentally leave anyone out!
Exciting new distances reached, new shoes, badminton - y'all are awesome!

@vereuska - i really struggle with pacing. instead of achieving the 'negative split' i'm always so excited at the begininning of the run and then barely make it home! now i try to concentrate on relaxing and not even trying to increase pace until 1/2way through the run. still not getting negative splits, but trying!0 -
