Hello all. I used to be on this board a couple of months ago. I was pregnant (about 7 weeks along) but had a miscarriage on 11/8 (Election Day)
I'm now going to be 13 weeks on Saturday. Everything looks perfect according to the midwife
Height: 5'1.5"
SW- 118 ( I gained weight from the winter and being sad about the miscarriage).
Week12: 122 ( I was bloated though).
I'm petite so I don't want to gain a lot of weight because my back hurts.
Hi, I am sorry for your loss. Congratulations on your pregnancy:-)0 -

So we got in a car accident last night, everyone is fine, including baby! So now I have lots of car crap to sort out The siver lining is we got to find out 2 days early that:
I am glad everyone is ok. Congratulations for your baby boy!0 -

I am disappointed, no matter what I do, I keep gaining more than expected...
Were you able to get back to normal after your previous pregnancies. If so, maybe that's just the way it is for you. Hang in there!
No I tend to keep the weight after delivery but to be honest this is the first time that I keep an eye on my weight gain during pregnancy...so even though I am gaining a lot I am being more conscious of what I eat....hope I don't keep the wt this time, I worked so hard last year to get rid of it.0 -

Awesome job!!! Are you working out as well?0 -
Hello other MFP's currently on a hiatus from losing weight! I decided to start posting on this board once I hit the second trimester - and here I am. Just prior to getting pregnant I lost 50 pounds, so this is a weird adjustment to gain weight. But I hope to gain 25-30 which will still put at me 20-25 LESS than my highest weight. That is still crazy to think!
My first trimester I was nauseous all the time and really only could stomach carbs which was the opposite from my PCOS low carb weight loss. I obviously upped my carb intake and I am trying to get as much protein as I can, but I don't eat red meat and am incredibly intolerant to dairy and eggs. Pretty much all chicken grosses me out still, but I am still shoving it down to keep up protein.
So far I have only been craving sweets which I try to curb by eating fruit or adjusting the craving to am exact single serving. I am still logging into MFP daily and have upped my calories accordingly. So far I have been lucky that my weight has been fine as long as I eat smartly when hungry and don't eat when I am not hungry.
Anyways - onto my first weekly check-in. Wish me luck over the next few months, and good luck to everyone doing their weekly check in. You all seem to be doing really well!

I am 12w5d and in the beginning I gained 16lbs within days. I had all day sickness but was still hungry. I had zero energy to cook so it was all fast food and lots of it. This past week and a half I have felt much better and have been back to my regular exercise (with limitations of course) and have been back to tracking my food. I have lost 6lbs in the week and a half. I am a little concerned to lose however am assuming most of it is water weight, but then of course some loss as I am not eating 4-5000cals a day anymore, back to my 3-3300 lol So currently sitting at a 10lb gain.1

Can I ask what you're doing to keep your weight so in check?0 -
@wantoldme sorry it's a sucky answer, but it's kind of just happening. I think the hormones sent my metabolism into overdrive and I am just not able to eat enough to gain faster. Then plus that I haven't had any cravings, food aversion, or sickness with the pregnancy made it easy to just chug along. Plus trying to get lots of sleep, an "I don't care" mind set at work (goodbye stress) and, as far as I can tell, next to no water retention.
I do log my calories everyday and for the second trimester I exercised 1 or 2 times a week. (not any more.. now I'm just a bump on a log, probably losing muscle mass!) For the second trimester I was eating ~2600 calories a day and now it's closer to ~2700 (aiming for 2800 though, but usually not meeting it) and it feels like that's all I can eat in a day unless I eat whole bags of chips or something. But if you think about it, 2700 would imply that my normal maintenance is 2250 which it definitely was not before! So it seems my body is allowing about 100-200 extra than I expected everyday.
I asked my midwife and she said that it just happens that way for some people. I've talked to her several times saying I was concerned I wasn't gaining enough but she said this is just what my body will do.
I wish I actually had more tips or reasons. I should probably be trying to have bigger lunches.0 -

Where is my weight fairy godmother, your hogging all the fairy dust over there! I was "bad" and ate 2600-2800 calories a couple different days the past 2 weeks (not every day) and I am up 3 lbs.....
Oh well, such is life I guess3 -
Hi ladies! Can I join the fun ? I am sixteen weeks along with my third girl. My first two girls are 7 and 10. Its been so long since my last pregnancy it feels like going through it for the first time again! I am also 39, so am pretty worried about excessive weight gain because its just downright hard to lose weight at this age (and only sure to get harder). I am logging my food most days now (first trimester was all about survival) but the weight is still coming on faster than I would like. Ahhhhh!!!!!

My weight has been fluctuating pretty wildly this week, but I think this weight is pretty accurate because it's about in the middle of the numbers I've seen. It's crazy that I'm almost to the third trimester. I need to start getting everything ready to meet my little girl! (Who is entertaing herself by jumping up and down on my cervix these days-ouch!)1 -

Sometimes our bodies do what they're gonna do. I saw pics of myself from early December and went what has happened to my thighs and I thought I would love to look like that again and at the time I just wanted to drop 10 pounds. I feel like my babies are putting on weight but perhaps even though I am logging and walking still my legs wouldn't get thicker and nay it just doesn't seem to be so. I am going to be looking into a good stroller for twins so I can get my game on when these two arrive in early August.2

Being plus sized - even if physically fit and healthy makes pregnancy hard. Not because of anything physical for me it's all about the conceptions held by "medical professionals" judging me (wrongly at that). I've been forced to attend high risk clinics, subject to extra GTT tests because they were adamant my results were wrong at 16 weeks and 22 weeks (I'm refusing further tests) and lectured about how terrible I am that at 24 weeks I've gained a total of 1.8kg the whole pregnancy. I'm only 5"2' and my "normal" sport was Crossfit. According to my BMI though I'm obese. I'm sure I'd be treated better if I drank alcohol and smoked a pack a day. At 19 weeks pregnant I had a major car accident. Cracked sternum, collar bone, major abdominal bruising and torn all ligaments in my right ankle. That was five weeks ago - I can barely walk to the bathroom (came out of moon boot three days ago but still it's braced) let alone around the block. The range of movement I have is extremely limited and I still have pain. Desperate to get back to CrossFit but so far standing is a challenge. Diet is so controlled - yet I'm judged over 1.8kg. So over weigh ins, judgement and the attitude that someone who doesn't "look" the part or has a BMI over 32 Cnr possibly have a healthy lifestyle.0

Have you looked into other doctors in your area, maybe you need to change to someone who works better for you.
My OB gave me guidelines for weight gain at my first appointment, but there has been no weight gain shamming along the way. I can definitely see why you are frustrated!2 -

Had a bit of a scare on Monday. The baby hardly kicked for 2.5 hours (only 3 times) so I almost called the midwife. However, ate an apple and drank juice and then the baby started kicking. Also had an unrelated appointment with my GP so she checked the heartbeat for me while I was there. The experience freaked me out and suddenly, I'm feeling totally fine with the thought of a C-section if I need it!
@tmcollier580 omg that accident sounds horrible!!! Are you recovering alright? Is your baby okay? That's so scary. I hope you have lots of support at home to help you rest and heal as quickly as possible!!!1 -
Ok, logging this for the first time...here we go.
Height: 5' 11"
Age: 34
First Pregnancy
Goal to Gain: 25-30lb
Starting weight: 169 lb
Week 14: 05/04: 172.8 (+3.8, +3.8)
Week 15: 05/11: 176.0 (+3.2, +7)
So...should I be concerned that I've already gained 7 lbs, 3.2 in just the last week?? It seems like a lot. This is my first pregnancy and I am not sure what to expect. Truth be told, I haven't been working out. I've been so fatigued that it just hasn't happened. But I didn't think I was eating that poorly/too much. Going to try to log my food better this week so I can make sure I've consuming healthy amounts. Just want to make sure I am getting the right nutrients for peanut, and not more than either of us needs.
BTW I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir, but pregnancy brain is real. Before posting this I just looked over what I typed and saw I had put my age as "32." huh? I'm 34.1 -

Nah I wouldn't worry. Lots of women retain water instantly, that's probably all it is. You either get it now or later haha.0 -

For me it happens periodically and randomly. But it will depend on your body. If it seems like it's too much, it can be something you can talk to your doctor about. Also it could be increased blood volume too.0
