how much weight have you gained

I am 11 weeks, 3 days and I have lost 2 pounds. This is my third child and this is normal for me this early. I don't usually really start to gain until the middle of the second trimester. If your doctor isn't worried about your weight, then keep eating healthy and exercise within the limits of what your doctor prescribes. If there is one thing I could have changed about my first two pregnancies it would be to let myself relax a little more and not stress about so many different parts of the pregnancy.0

I'm working on 19 weeks and I've technically stayed the same (gained 5 and then lost it). Because of my pp weight I want to gain at most 15-20 lbs, but as long as baby is healthy I'll get over if it is more.0

Just had my 26 week checkup, and I'm up 18 lbs. My tadpole is measuring at 28.5 weeks though. Big boy.0

48 pounds at almost 37 weeks- the last 5 I gained definitely water weight...I can tell in my hands face and ankles and feet O well almost done!
I've been gaining a lot of water weight here lately too, I was up almost 4lbs in a week according to doctor's scales. It's not real bad, but now I'm waking up with swelling, where it used to go away in the mornings...and yes I am almost done so I am not too concerned0 -

That's not bad at all, I agree! I'm not sure what my gain is so far (at 13w), but I was at the doctor on Friday, and they weighed me then. I wasn't weighed at my first appointment (at almost 8w), but that happened last time I was pregnant, too, where they didn't weigh me until my second appointment. My guess is that they assume you'll gain little to none until about 12w, and then they'll count from there. Since I don't know the difference between my scale and theirs, I won't ever really know!
But for me, I think it's been about 10lbs at 13w because my experience has been that if I don't eat consistently, I feel sick! Now I am starting to feel normal again, and my food aversions are slowly disappearing, so maybe I can start eating like a normal person again0 -

Up 53lbs at 35 weeks. I have done an experiment though and realized i can eat 90% healthy for 2 weeks and 50% healthy for 2 weeks and still gain the same amount of weight. I am totally convinced that there really is nothing i can do about the weight gain and that no matter what outside influences there are ( diet and exercise) my body will gain what it wants/ needs for the baby0

Yeah, someone else on here said something similar fairly recently. The gist was that she has been pregnant twice now, once throwing caution to the wind when it came to eating and once eating very well/carefully. Both times she gained the same amount of weight (something like 60 pounds). I guess her body just did what it was going to do, regardless of how she ate!0 -

Thanks guys...... I'm a bit self conscious about weight since moving to Australia..... Most people are thin and we live in an area with tons of pregnant people......they are all tiny! Even before I got pregnant I was "big" in comparison at 5'5" and 140ish. I just need to get over it!!!
I was also given zero information or guidelines at the appointment in regards to weight, eating or things to avoid..... Maybe that's normal?
And now that you point it out, I wasn't weighed at my first appointment either... And I've had the same problem, I have to eat every few hours to avoid sickness.
Thanks guys :flowerforyou:0 -

I wouldn't worry too much- I see the exercise you log every day and you do AMAZING! You will get back down to where you were in no time! I wish I had as much ambition as you to work out like that every day0 -
Up 36 lbs @ 37 wks 2 days...I will not go over 39 lbs! I just have to get through Thanksgiving and I got this lol0

Thankyou ladies :-) I had put on 14 pounds by week 12, but eating was the only thing that stopped me from feeling sick! I'm easily up 2 dress sizes but I was tiny pre-pregnancy (119 pounds and 5ft 6, i was a UK size 8 and think I'm now a 12) but my first weighed 9.2 pounds so think my body naturally prepared me for a big baby. Think this one is going to be similar, i know where my extra padding is, but honestly think my body is telling me there is no way I could have had my first if I'd stayed at 119 pounds! Our bodies are very clever! And breastfeeding to help get your weight back down is amazing! My uterus was right down from my first after just 2 weeks (I breastfed, drank raspberry leaf tea and some simple yoga exercises on my tummy, but I felt the most effect just by breastfeeding... you can literally feel your uterus shrinking!!) so don't worry too much about your weight gain ladies, you will lose a fair chunk naturally in the first 6 weeks after birth :-D0

That's the worst! My sister has spent a couple of years living in Paris, and she hated that everyone seems to be naturally thin, meanwhile she was busting her butt running and going to the gym so she could eat the same way they were.
With both pregnancies, my OB did not give me weight gain guidelines, and with my 65-lb gain last time she did not say a word except at one appt where I had gained too quickly since my last one (when I'd gone on a cruise). She threatened to put me on a diet if my next gain was also too fast, but I think I either maintained or lost at my next month's appt.
The only thing she said to me, and probably because I was overweight at the time, was at my first appt the first time I was pregnant, and it was that I only needed an extra 200-300 calories a day, that it was not an excuse to "eat for two."
This time at my first appt she couldn't shut up about how awesome I looked and asked me if I had lost 100 lbs (yes, from my pre-delivery weight). So I guess she figures I will keep it in check this time. Hopefully she's right!0 -
I went to the Dr. today... up 22 lbs at 25 weeks or 24weeks. They are not really sure which one i am at. i asked her if I had gained to much weight she said no not really. Does it seem like alot at that many weeks?0

Not at all, all of us are different! You might end up tapering off and not gaining for a while. I've gained about 15 lbs at 27 weeks but I was overweight to start with. Like many have said, some women try to control it but it doesn't matter what they eat or what they do for exercise, the body does what it wants!0 -
I just checked, and at 25 weeks I was around a 24lb gain. I'm now 31 weeks and up 31ish...I had a week in the middle where I jumped up 7lbs even though nothing about my food/exercise changed. The other weeks my weight has stayed the same. Our bodies just do what they want whenever they want!0

here is a breakdown of my weight gain for those of you earlier in pregnancy if you want to compare. I am 32wks today, I usually weigh in on thursdays but weighed in today just to get an idea. I won't count today's weigh in of 27.1lbs. I had a bad weekend/week last week and gained 3lbs and my weight is still fluctuating. I went down 1 lb today and I expect to fluctuate a little less until my final weigh in on Thursday
edit** starting weight was 124 pre-pregnancy if that makes a difference.

Before I got pregnant, I really thought that I was going to be okay with gaining weight when I was pregnant because I know that it's healthy and that it's not permanent. Then the weight started coming on. I am 24 weeks and at my last appointment, 2 weeks ago, I had gained 18 lbs at 22 weeks. According to my doctor, I should only really gain about 20-25 lbs. Needless to say, I left the appointment upset. On the other hand, my doctor said that I shouldn't worry about it too much and to just keep doing what I'm doing. She also was very sympathetic and actually made me laugh and told me not to weigh myself at home because she didn't want me upsetting myself. She was much more concerned with the fact that I wasn't drinking enough water and got on me for not having a water bottle with me.
I'm trying my best to maintain weight between appointments and hopefully I will. I just have to keep remembering that I'm not being lazy and that I'm not gaining weight because I'm careless. I'm pregnant and my body is doing extraordinary things that I need energy to do.0 -
