Bodyfat estimation thread

I was getting pretty frustrated with lack of scale movement, but there's an obvious difference in my pictures even though scale weight hasn't changed since October. I know it is probably tough to compare relaxed to flexed--the Feb pics are what I'd call "semi-flexed" as I was mostly looking to see if my arms changed much. Just curious for an opinion on then vs. now. I'm 5 foot 5.
Relaxed side view for Oct and Feb:
Edited to resize. Thanks!
The issue here is that we're looking at photos with different lighting and different outfits. It would be difficult for us to assess whether or not you've made progress due to the differences in these variables.
Have your measurements changed in that time?0 -
When you get a chance, could you please give me an estimate? I'm 5'0" and 118.8 lbs when these photos were taken.
Front, relaxed.
Side, relaxed.
Back, relaxed.
Side, semi-flexed
In the 24-25% range or so.0 -
allright ..second time is a charm Last time you all pegged me around 11-12% so it will be interesting to see if I have progressed…but you will not crush my dreams, promise
first one is unflexed
second one is flexed
12% range. If you have older pics or you know what page they were on you can let us know if you'd like us to do a comparison.
I found the page from last time…
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/826435-bodyfat-estimation-thread?page=6
actually, last time you all had me in the 12-13% range…so 12% now would be progress
but yea, if you have the time to go back, take a look, and do a comparison that would be cool, and much appreciated…:)
What is your weight in the most recent pic please?
when I took that I was right at about 178 pounds....
as of last Friday I was at 175...
Hi!
While it is hard to assess from a couple of pics, you look like you have made some increase in muscle mass from the prior pics. Your lats and delts look more defined.
Your stats would indicate this as well. Your weight is up a bit, but BF% looks to be down a little.
thanks, you guys rock!
I was kinda thinking the same ..
next time I will try to get some better pictures…:)0 -

Biggest change was in my umbilical skinfold (self-measured) which had been reading 25-28 mm and was down to 20-22 mm.
My tops are definitely fitting looser in my back and mid-section.0 -

Hard to tell due to hair factor, but we would put you somewhere in the upper teens. 18 +/- 10 -
Thank you for the estimate, put myself at 20% so I'm pleased you have gone a bit lower.
Aiming for 14-15% buy the beginning of June, eating super healthy and working out 3 times a week using All Pro's beginner workout with 30 mins of steady cardio at the end. Its been working like a dream.0 -
In the 24-25% range or so.
Thanks for confirming my guess for me; that's about what I would have guessed. I've been using 4-point and a 7-point caliper measurements and getting waaaay lower (like 11%-15%) and knew from looking at pictures that they weren't right.0 -

Hi all
Sorry we are so behind with this thread. We will try to get caught up soon.0 -
I went to the gym today (finally), and a trainer had me hold a body fat analysis tool in my hand, which told him I was 32% body fat. Hmm Ok. I asked about calipers, he did not have them, they use the handy dandy tool.
I just spent an hour on line doing 5 different types of body fat analysis. I measured from my neck to my wrist to my forearm and thigh, with everything in between.
The general consensus was approximately 27%
This was the Navy site. I added the height for future reference. I am going to see if I can get a few pictures to post right now. I really want to know where I am starting and 5% is HUGE. Right?
•Sex: female
^ Height:5'2"
•Weight: 128 pounds
•Wrist: 5.5 inches
•Waist: 33 inches (at belly button)
•Hip: 36 inches
•Forearm: 9.5 inches
Your body fat percentage is 26.2%.
ETA::embarassed: after seeing my pictures, the 32% is probably correct
Sidesteel, I got it to work. If you or Sara can use these great. I would like them deleted ASAP. Being a mod on the boards, I don't like having bathing suit pix up. Plus blech.0 -
^^Hi! Not sure how quickly we will get to this - so if you want to PM us with them, please feel free - we can take them down from here then.0

Hi, been a while. You last estimated me, gosh, back in Summer last year sometime.
Had a bit of up and down since then, as due to illness I had to take a month off last end Nov - end Dec, got totally off track until mid January, with little exercise and bad eating. Hit the gym again, minus my trainer, minus my boxing, just running, elliptical, cycling, weights, and lost weight(got a bit obsessed with it again)... maybe too much.
So, hope you guys can take a look and come up with an estimate. Trainer's machine that he used last time (that you agreed with), was all over the place today, and gave two totally different numbers within 5 minutes of readings.
Here is link. There are a variety of shots and poses there including those requested (as best as I could do with phone and mirror alone).
Thanks.
