Feb 8: 4.32 miles = 73.41 miles total = Leave Crickhollow soon after 6:00 a.m. Foggy. Ride ponies slowly.

I did pretty good today. I jogged for 40 minutes, walked 5 minutes, then jogged another 5 minutes, with warm up/cool downs on either end. Throughout I did bursts of 2 minutes at a higher speed than I'm used to and didn't find it at all bad. I think I'm starting to get quicker at this.

Great job, Plex! It's encouraging to know that our time can get better! :)

2km over the wknd & 4km today so YTD is now about 42kms or just over 26 miles

**the road is still rolling up and down... 2 more miles to go!

I ran continuously for over 3km today without resting! that's the furthest & longest I've run yet (26 mins) and it sounds super corny but I'm so so proud of myself for getting this far!!

PixieO, that's marvelous! You should be proud. 3K is nothing to sneeze at. .....oh, that rolling road. It goes on and on.......

xtrout, wow!!! 8 miles! You're doing great! That is an impressive distance.

I'm still struggling to run 5K on a consistent basis. One day I can do it, the next day or two I can't. I think that maybe the jump from 33 minutes (C25K-W9) to 50 minutes (my 5K time  ) is too much. So, I'm going back to a 35 minute jog and adding 5 minutes a week. I'm also adding inclines and short & fast sprints (at 0 incline) to help me gain strength and endurance. Hope that works.
I'm slowly starting to speed up. My last 5K jog was done in 48:35 minutes. Not fast but somewhat faster (so there is hope for my improvement).

I started C25K in September 2012 so 4-5 months now. I would never have imagined I could have done this when I started.

The lights of Hobbiton are beautiful tonight. Alas, it won't be long before it is a memory.

    Reached 7.5 miles today.

That's a great idea, fitplease! I hope you don't mind me copying it.
It's a great way to visualize our journey.

    No problem. :-)

fitplease and scythswife, you are both so determined! You're both going to do well with the program. It's not always easy and takes some grit but it's so worth it.

Your encouragement means so much! Thank you. It's good to hear you are keeping up with your runs after c25k.

My step-dad was visiting for a few days so no jogging but a couple of nice walks:

    Feb 15: 2.5 miles
Feb 16: 5.6 miles = total miles of 89.98 = Cross series of deep folds running SE. Keep turning east. Lose direction.

It's so encouraging to see all your progress!! Please keep posting! :-)

Resting in a birch grove tonight. Supper was delicious, although keeping it frugal. (After all, MFP'er here.) Will turn in soon as it is late. Heading off to find Stock Rd in the morning.

    Yay, fitplease!! You're doing great.

I got my lazy butt onto the treadmill this afternoon and jogged a bit. I only jogged 25 minutes (walked the rest). I was a bit discouraged with the fact that I'm having trouble increasing my time jogging BUT I am now jogging along at 6.7-6.8Km/hr (up from 6.0) so I AM improving!

Jan 17: 4.23 miles = 94.21 total = Merry finds path along bank of the River. Follow it east through wetlands.

Feb 22: 4.36 miles = 102.93 miles = Leave Tom's house and climb zig-zag path to brow of hill on west side of Barrow-downs (ca. 9 a.m.). On ponies go up steep slopes and down long limbs. No trees or water. Turn more east than they intend and enter the Barrow-downs, a place of great dread: inhabited by evil Barrow-wights from Angmar.

Morning all. I'm a bit behind. Hoping I can make some more miles go by this week. Up to 98.13 for the year so far.

So sad to leave our little outcrop of grey stone next to the stream at the foot of the hill. Alas, we broke down our campsite around 10 AM this morn and should be following the road that rolls up and down for a few miles yet.

In other words, just finished W4D3 and did some extra walking and running along the way. :-)

    Mile 23 :-)

Another 10.5km done since my last entry so YTD is now about 56kms or just over 34 miles

**the road zig-zags to top of a steep bank to go down for the last time. Can see across Woody End to the River. **We stop to rest, eat and rest more! Sun was beginning to get low as we went down the hill. The road ahead runs fairly straight and level. Behind us it curves slightly...

Preparing to (finally) see my first Black Rider!!

I've been sick the past weekend and finally back to exercising. Only have managed about 7 miles this week so far but that brings me to 116.27

Frodo sings, Tom rescues and recalls ponies. Leave about 10 a.m. Tom leads.
