Week 7 Day 2!
My new "running partner" and I went for a run inside a large gated area. He stayed with me! I'm very excited and I see great off leash running in our future.
Oh! Btw! I had a 16 min pace! (just under 17, but we won't mention that.)
Looking forward to lowering that. Someday goal of averaging 10 mins a mile.

Forgot to post this the other day. I was feeling down about my ex and I had just texted my sister that I was going to "run until my legs hurt more than my heart". She told me to be careful. I pulled up behind this car at a light about a mile from the gym.
Conveniently, the driver pulled into the same plaza that my gym is in, so I snapped a clearer version.

My little cough is still with me, so instead of trying to finish week 6 this morning, I made the executive decision to start week 6 again. So W6D1 is done. Again.
No shame in starting the week over. Right?5 -
My week 2 day 1 run was a 1.5 mile run/walk. My son ran with me and we were kinda pushing each other; we've made it half way, we can go farther. We made it more than a mile, we can go farther. We're almost there, we can finish and run the entire 1.5 miles. Well, the app, or possibly my phone, decide to have issues and not tell me when we got to the end...until 1.77 miles. We ran the whole time, without ever stopping and walking!! We're in better shape than we thought! This 5K at the end of May is going to be no problem!4

@Brans34 So dang cute!! Love it.
Week 7 Day 3!
I overate today and decided to run some of the calories off.
Had a good time running with the pup again, he's a good boy!5 -
I started preparing for a 10 k race today! Using the same Zenlab app. W9 D1 id done!
Great job! There is another group for the "bridge to 10K" if you want to join... I've seen a few other recent graduates over there... http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1094845/daily-check-in-thread-10k-version#latest

Thanks! Will join!1 -
Week 6 Day 2 is done.
Weirdest thing. My body waited until the last minute of the the second 10 minute run to get a stitch. Sigh. I finished and enjoyed my cool down walk!2 -
Week 2 day 2 : 8-1 minute fast running intervals followed by 1.5 minutes jog/walk. Done.
This was so difficult!! My legs were fine, but my lungs were on fire!! How in the world is running (jogging) for 1.8 miles easier than running for 8 minutes, split up!?!? I mean, I actually know exactly how, but dang it! I just want it to not kill me! Lol.
Mini me and I pulled it of though. We both made it through, and ready for a rest day then the next run. Feeling great!3 -
W8D1 done. I'm using a different app than most of y'all, I think. This was the first day where I didn't have a walking interval every 4 or less minutes; went from 7x 4:00 run, :30 walk to just one period of running for 25 minutes. I ran for 29 because I knew I had the ability to do more and the next 3 workouts are 28, 30, and 40 minutes. I figured getting ahead of the week a bit, and eveninng out the transition from 25 to 40 minutes made sense. I'm pretty certain I had the 5k in me, but I've had to fight the desire to do too much all along this thing. One week from today I'll be finished and I'm so *kitten* stoked to win at this endeavor.4

Week 8 Day 1!
I went a little off script. Today I ran 2 miles in 30 minutes! Now... I know this is slow! But I'm already seeing progress from a few days ago where I had a pace of 16+mins per miles.4 -

I'm not sure when to make the jump really. I've been running 5k 3 times a week since graduating, problem is that with the warm up and cool down it takes me the best part of an hour so difficult to fit in any more during lunch breaks. I suppose I could go after work, but always too eager to get home!3 -
Ah, I've forgot to update this for a while, but haven't stopped running!
Finished W7:D2 yesterday - that 20 minute run is a monster, but feels amazing, considering I was complaining on here a month ago about how I couldn't run for 3 minutes! Looking forward to doing my first 5K and my pace is about 6:20/km, which means I'm on track to do it within the 35 minutes it says you should. Exciting!6 -

Is before work an option? If I wasn't able to do my workouts and running in the mornings, I wouldn't have time to do them. Getting up at 5a takes some getting used to, but now it is just part of my routine. Moving up to the 10K training will help your endurance and your speed for the 5K as well.2 -
I've started up again, and I may have convinced someone to join me this time. I finished week 1 day 2 today.4

It could well be, now that it's light in the mornings and I'm rarely asleep after 5am anyway.
Only problem with that is sustainability, would I continue it into the Winter when it's dark? maybe I would do, I need to give it some serious thought and see how best to move forwards
In the meantime, I'll be doing another 5K today, and I still can't get used to saying that! (and that's my 7th 5K!!)3 -
Finished Week 6! I reworked my playlist and the 22 minutes flew by! Woohoo! I'm doing this!4

Okay... I have a confession to make. Since I ran for 30 minutes the last time (which is the time needed for Week 8 Day 2) I decided to run for 35 today.
So....
WEEK 8 DAY 3!!!!
Annnnnnnd I'm done! Now onto my 10K trainer.8 -
Week 3 day 1, 1.5 mi run/walk done. We ran the whole 1.5 miles PLUS kept going to 1.95 miles!!? Super proud of me and my mini. Feelin great!5

Week 9 Day 1
First day of my 10K trainer!! I'm not sure where to post this....
It was a 20 minute run, 3 min walk, then another 20 minute run. Went alright. I felt tired instead of energized. Might have been because I took 16k steps yesterday. Or maybe it was the trail running. Or a myriad of other reasons.
Looking forward to my next run!6 -
I did week 1, day 3 today, and brought someone with me, but my 5 year old was not the running companion I originally intended. There was a lot of running in small circles as he biked up and down the grass hills near our neighborhood trail, and then some running up an unexpected hill as he wanted to bike down the bike/pedestrian bridge over the freeway...repeatedly. We both had a blast.4

Thunderstorms here this morning. Will have to see if this afternoon is any better. Otherwise, I'll have to come up with another plan.0

Got to the track and completed Week 7 Day 1. Whew!
I am definitely better first thing in the mornings!2 -

The app I have goes by time. It is Active's 5Kto10K app. I am on Week 4 and all runs are still under an hour in time. It has interval trainings built in, etc. I kind of like it. All apps are different though.2 -

Thunderstorms again. Sigh.0

I actually miss thunderstorms. Here (silicon valley) we can hear thunder up in the hills twice a year or so.
Do you have somewhere you can run inside?0 -
