Hey everyone - I'm back, had a wonderful time away with the hubby....

The food was great, had too much, and luckily "everyday isn't like today".....so back at it....

Up by 5 lbs, am sure most will be gone by next week....We all know the scale isn't a true inidicator of who we are are what we have become....

    Stay warm for the snowbunnies...
Hope those with health issues get back sooner rather than later....

For those with friends and family with health issues, hoping for a speedy recovery...

I am really glad to be a part of this group, and so many IPOUs.... keep at it ......

    Carol

and for snoozie - thanks for keeping the bail money..... we didn't need it.....

    Morning Hatters!

Doing the happy feet dance this morning as I finally broke thru that "0" and into a new set of numbers on my weekly weigh in this morning. I had gained a wee bit from all the extra dinners out this month but didn't panic this time, just picked back up "normal" eating again. Altho I did have a day of "emotional" eating in that period too - complete crap all day, so although I have identified the fact that I still reach for food for comfort, I obviously haven't conquered the monster yet LOL.. but Kobiemom's article is a great read - if you havent read it and need a bit of reassurance and encouragement, its well worth it!

Bis: so glad your mom is doing well with the new PM! and getting out today? Wow.. they've come a long way with medical procedures.. very happy to hear!

Carole - good to have you back, but glad you had such a good time! And that you didn't need the bail money... hope you figured out SOMETHING to do with the rope and metal bracelets tho.. wink wink nudge nudge!

Susan - love the scale pic (whodathunk i'd ever say love the scale LOL!) But THAT's a scale i could learn to love!! Hope the numbers have reversed a bit from your weird gain.. :o(

gail - imagine its going to take some time to adjust to being on your own again so much! Especially cooking wise.. to this day, I cannot make my mother's fabulous macaroni and cheese in any size except for 4... and knowing i'll eat ALL 4 portions is the thing that keeps me from making it more than once or twice a year! Love that you are dedicating the time available now tho to you... have been wathing your exercise progress and am SO proud of you my friend!!! Awesome job!!

Am getting a little worried about Tammy and Janet.. both have been under the weather a bit lately so if you get a chance ladies, please pop in and let us know how you're doing??? Hugs to both!

Tonya - thankful to hear your back is improving - I never knew how excruitating sciatica pain was til i experienced it.. so glad to see you're feeling better!

Righto... still have a lot of chores left to do before going back to work tomorrow... and am having dinne with an old friend tonight so better get cracking.. on the plus side.. will burn off enough calories to have a glass of wine with our catch up yap tonite too!! hee hee!!

    Have a good day Hatters!

PS I see we have a few new members in the group - so throwing out a welcome to all. Feel free to lurk awhile or just jump in and introduce yourselves... you'll find nothing but support and encouragement on your journey from all of us - and at least one of us has probably experienced any and all of the struggles you may be having lol!

IPOU Snooozie the fact that you didn't panic and just returned to "normal" eating is another small step that will allow you to continue you your journey with success.

Seehee I am so relating with you and the scale issue. I feel I am being held hostage since Christmas. I just keep doing what has worked in the past believing that sooner or later it will all kick in and get going again. Btw love the snow and missing it again this year :(

Carol glad you had a good trip and makes me even more ready for ours.

Tonya will keep you in prayer, hope your back is continuing to get better and less painful.

Felt better today and was able to eat more so numbers are looking better today.

Now bring on 3:00 Thursday and then 3 days off with all lesson plans and bellringers for the upcoming week completed and ready to go for the next week. I will take some papers with me to grade on the ride since the grading period ends Friday, but getting them done on the ride may allow me to not have to stay late Monday I am crossing my fingers. We shall see. I have been good to my word and left each day at 4 or shortly there after this week. Going to keep pushing that and hope that I can up it by 10 or 15 minutes a couple of a day a week soon. Thanks for all the support and understanding as we all know sometimes we just need a SAFE venting area where we first get to think things through and second not have to worry about repercussions.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, if I don't pop in no worries as I am hoping to be outside enjoying the weather and family. I bought the little one a new kite today with hopes of getting some flying time in while we are away.

Hello Hatters! Sorry I have been AWOL... been exercising but not logging food. Haven't been encouraging much to others either. Sorry... Have been so bummed that my weight hasn't been moving since the end of the year that I just said it's not working...Gotta get back on the horse and ride! I've been walking at least 3 miles most days. Up to 7 miles once a week and increasing it one mile each week until I walk a 1/2 marathon at the end of April. But logging is so important and I have put that on the back burner. Haven't really been eating too badly, but I guess enough that the scale isn't showing any loss. I've been up and down with these 2-4 pounds and it's so frustrating! Sorry to be venting, but sometimes its SOOO hard to stay focused when there is no downward movement.... maybe I need to mix it up somehow. I don't know... Glad to see you guys kickin' it!

Does anyone have a Vitamix, and if so how do you like it...??? Is it worth every penny?
  • Snooozie
    Snooozie Posts: 3,461 Member
Sowwy Gail.. I don't know what a vitamix is.. so i know i don't have one LOL!! which means im absolutely no help

Patrice - sent a PM but wish there was something we could do to help you thru the stall.. if there's any truth to the saying "misery loves company", at least you know we all understand so well the frustration you're feeling - and how it can eventually start messing with your head after weeks of doing everything right and not seeing the results you want... I got some help from other Hatters when I was stalled for so long, and sent a few thoughts - but all the good wishes and sympathy related "know how you feel" don't help a lot when you're in that funk I konw. So just know you can vent anytime - it helps keep us sane and there is always at least some comfort in knowing everyone in the Hatters is nodding away while reading your post cause we completely understand!

The only other advise or help I might offer... is to possibly beat a chicken breast to death to release some frustration? (you dont have to eat it after... just demolish it lol) or a good primal scream (away from small children and animals) can be quite helpful on occasion I find... :embarassed:

    If I'm correct....

A VITAMIX is a cross between a blender / food processor.....

Personally, we're old school and use the blender for making drinks....:drinker: i.e frozen / marguritas etc....
and have never used a food processor.... we use the 18 year old / hubby is in charge of cooking and I'm on the clean-up crew...and didn't have a dishwasher until I was in my 40s......

So.... sorry, not much help from the peanut gallery hear in NJ....  giggle / snort

Patrice, I have lost and gained the same 5 pounds since before Christmas. I know how you feel. Just when I think I am doing well something goes terribly awry. Hang in there and do log your food. I think it is a great indicator of what we do. I eat more junk when stressed and not feeling good about myself. I actually went and looked at my diary for this time last year so i could get a better picture of what I was eating while I was losing. I think some big changes are coming my way in the next few weeks.

Janet, feel better soon, we miss you.

Seehe, the picture is beautiful although I know the weather changes must be challenging. What to wear?

Carol, Nothing wrong with old school, I think I am as well.

Tammy, enjoy your time off you deserve it!

    HAPPY FRIDAY HATTERS!

It's only my Tuesday LOL.. but I'm happy for those whose Friday it is!! And I'm on evenings which is my favourite shift these days so I'm still a happy camper!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend... and a thought for today - do one thing today that your future self will thank you for!!

I made a lovely, healthy beef stew chock full of veggies and very little meat, that I'll enjoy for dinner tonight at work in the snowstorm we're supposed to get, and my future self will benefit from all the veggies!

Hi Ladies - I just found this group and am looking forward to getting to know all of you.
I feel like I've dieted off and on my whole life.....loosing some, gaining some, but it got way out of control at some point. My husband heard about Medifast and in January of 2009 we started our weight loss journey. He lost 35 to 40 lbs in three months and I lost 65 lbs in seven months. Unfortunately I left for vacation on the day I met my weight goal, thoroughly enjoyed my skinny self in Vegas for for a week and just never got back in the groove of exercising and couldn't convince myself to work through the maintenance portion of the Medifast plan.
So now here I am 20 lbs heavier (was 30 in December) and so I am back on a modified Medifast plan because I really really want to be back at my goal weight......IT FELT SO GOOD!!!!!!!
I think I have the majority of the menopause symptoms under control at this point. Initially Medifast had a shake called "women's health" that worked really well, but they stopped that product. So now I use GNC's menopause formula that comes in a multi-vitamin pack. I also just recently starting taking a calcium supplement because I just really don't drink milk anymore.
Just looking for support from Women who are around my age (just turned 50 in December) her on MFP =)
Oh and P.S. My first name is Jonny, pronounced like the guys name.

Welcome Jonny too!! You'll have a blast here and look forward to getting to know ya...

Looks like we have a few birthdays in the house this week... Language Lassie yesterday and Seehe tomorrow... I think we need a little birthday party in the MMH house to celebrate - both of you are heading into a new year SO much healthier and knowledgable than you were this time last year - and both have made awesome progress - we're so proud of you two!!

I'll set up the bar for the celebrations  but my decorating skills are limited to duct tape bows... and we all know my baking would put everyone in the hospital... so I'll leave those to one of the other Hatters please!

    Let's party!:drinker:

Happy birthday to the February hatters!
Thanks for all the get well wishes. Day 6 of antibiotics and still feeling and sounding terrible. I have twin great nieces and one great nephew who I haven't seen yet, so I am anxious to get germ free to hold the new babies! I am missing my body pump and tennis. It is not easy getting up to exercise at 6 am, so I am hoping to be back on Tuesday, so my body doesn't forget that it needs to be on autopilate and just get out the door!
I am sitting here looking at our Christmas tree. First we were too busy caring for mil then it was the funeral and then I got pneumonia. Right now it looks like we might ( might not will) take it down when the kids get home for Easter. I have eaten all but 5 of the candy canes. I know I need to stay focused on just taking care of myself but I have to admit I periodically worry about the scale on Monday morning. I did start logging food, mainly to remind me to get protein.
Welcome Jonny and other new hatters. Just about anything that we are experiencing another one of us has survived. Looking forward to hearing more from you and anyone else who might be waiting for the right time to jump in.
My brain is a little fuzzy from the cough syrup, so I don't have everyone's names straight, so if I mix up, I apologize.
MeRoBi, when will we hear more about Africa, do you have a blog? Pictures would be great.
Snoozie, congrats for breaking through the stubborn plateau.
Bisland, I am glad to hear that your mom's pacemaker is working well.
Tonya, it sounds like you have left your job and joined a construction crew! Hope the project is almost complete.
TA, flying a kite sounds amazing, enjoy.
Hatters, healthy choices are going to lead to amazing things for all of us!!! Janet

Well we didn't make the park with the kite. Its been rainy and I just didn't want to trample through mud. We instead head to the Children's Museum and it was great. They had a skit of Little Red Riding Hood and the little one got selected to play Red and I played the mother and grandmother. I figured what the heck no one would know me and it will be something Madison will always remember.

Now yesterday was National Margarita day so in honor while I didn't have a margarita today I did partake of a Red Zombie at Red Robin as I shared a Whiskey River burger and fries with my husband today. Funny how when I was in WA and couldn't get a mom and pop burger I missed them so much that I would go to Red Robin and now that we are in LA we don't have Red Robin I miss them LOLOL. It was yummy but 600 calories for 1/2 a burger made my eyes roll of course that could have been caused by the Zombie. It is name that for a good reason I can say !!! One more and I am sure I would be the the Red Zombie, it actually made my arms numb and my kids always pick that they know I am loopy when my arms get numb. Crazy kids.

So my best bargain of the weekend was as we came in last night we stopped at Old Navy for the little one a pair of jeans since they had a sale for $10. They only had one pair so it didn't take long to shop when I got the check out and was pulling out my card the clerk said that will be 51 cents. After my confused look he said good deal huh. I said yep I had just send the commercial for the $10 sale and thought that was good but this was great. I took the 19.49 that I saved and purchased summer tops on sale at Target for $6.00. The girl is now set for summer since I picked up summer shorts a few weeks ago.

And now for me, so over the last few years I have wore a supporter (called this in case the little one goes to school and shares my info LOLOL) or girdle (old school ) because of my hanging stomach (which I have been amazed at how its doesn't hang like it did 75 pounds ago) . I have found that wearing one helps me not over eat and helps support my back. Anyway today I was able to purchase and XL which I honestly never thought about when I started wearing one. I am also hoping this along with continuing to do what I know works will be just the thing to get things moving again. Now just so you can laugh think about my husband helping me into this thing LOLOL but the old one was a XXL and it sags in the butt now and I figured there wasn't any point in getting another one the same size b/c I am going to beat this stall on the journey and get moving again.

Its been a great weekend just hope I have room for some Thia food with this new supporter !!!!!!!!!!!!!

LONG night at work; the only thing that stopped me from stopping to buy a chocolate bar in the vending machine on the way out, was that I couldn't find enough change in the bottom of my purse, and no way was I gonna break a $10 bill for it.. wish I could say it was determination that saved me..... but alas... lol

Just popping in to share a nightcap with Seehe to celebrate her birthday, and Language Lassie cause she's celebrating hers all week!!
Just discovered Patrice is also a February birthday (28th) so I think we should just take a page from LL's book and simply celebrate all 3 of you til the end of the month!!

    Setting up another blender....!!

(Will do replies to the MMH in the morning; gotta hit the sack)! Hugs all around!

TA congrats for moving to xl, for me that was a major step psychologically it just felt closer to "normal". Your comment about shaper v girdle made me laugh, when I first heard young women rave about Spanx I wondered what this new miracle thing must be, I was surprised when I found it was just a girdle with a new name and slightly different fabric. My mom made me wear a girdle to my 8 th grade graduation, it was the only way that I fit into my dress. For those a little younger, you might be surprised to know that it also had garters,it was 1968. But when pantyhose came out, I swore I would never wear another girdle. I have worn them for support since then, when I was starting exercising and after surgeries, but I won't wear them to just "improve my shape". I figure if I need Spanx to fit into a dress, the dress is too small. It seems very ironic to me that the generation who fell in love with thong underwear are now crazy about Spanx!
I didn't watch the oscars, just looked at the red carpet pictures and Jennifer Hudson looked fantastic! I love how she talks about how good it feels to be healthy and fit , without putting her larger self down.
Snoozie, it doesn't matter why you didn't get the candy, only that you didn't-congrats!
The final week of February is finally here, are you as ready for spring as I am?
