Hi team! Being on team Carl, I am charged with encouraging my team AND others (which I already enjoy doing!) So my encouragement comes to you today from 1 Corinthians 10:23 - Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. How is this encouraging? Well, this verse encourages me to make wise choices. Yes, a cheeseburger MAY be under my calories, but it may not be beneficial to my reaching my goals.
- Hopefully my using the Word doesn't offend, but it is MY greatest source of encouragement Happy Monday!0 -
Question: The kickboxing challenge for Team Daryl...could that be considered cardio and strength training?0

Now that's a good looking bunch right there! Looks like a bunch of WINNERS to me!!!0

As a fellow Carl, let me just say to you all that you are awesome and amazing, and that you can do this! Go, team, go!
Also, CARL, STAY IN THE HOUSE!

So, i am at work and have decided to go on youtube and listen to the video for Carl's challenge this week. I think i might be giggling right along with the kiddos in this video #teamcarl0

Just remember that strength training doesn't have to involve weights. Its can be as simple as pushups, crunches, chair dips, shadow boxing, yoga, fire hydrants - all great strength exercises that do not have to have weights. I find cleaning my bathtub to be great strength training, I wake up the next day sore in places I didn't know I could be sore.
Be creative and find things you will like doing...repeatedly!!!!!
Thank you!! Great suggestions!
Have an awesome week beginner team!!0 -

Just FYI - I moved myself to the Advanced group - good luck everyone!!

I thought I would share some theme-appropriate motivation. My cardio got started for the week with a 90 minute hike yesterday with my 2 year old on my back. Look close- my carrier is called Zombie Apocalypse0 -
that's awesome0

Just read through the weekly challenge post. Its awesome.
I'm on team Carl and have a kids workout to do. So I'm planning to do it when my daughters can join in. I'm sure they will only focus long enough to do bits and pieces (they are 2 and 4), but I love sharing my fitness goals with them. I feel like I'm setting a really good example when they do.0 -
I killed my cardio on Sunday and killed my character challenge and strength training yesterday. I had to do my character challenge and strength training in one day because I knew I wouldn't be able to walk to finish it later in the week sooo.........LOL! Strength training is so hard for me...it's a definite challenge!!! I don't want anyone to worry though. I am dedicated to the team and I won't let you down! I do plan on trying to get some more cardio in later in the week! I really don't want to lose because the other team is already discussing burpees for punishment...and well....I don't want to do burpees so lets make sure we win LOL!
If anyone is having struggles please don't give up ...let your team members know! I think we are allowed to loan cardio time and strength training time to each other if need be. We are all in this together so lets help each other! We can do this if we all work together!
Anyone that wants can add me if they like!
Let's get to exercising!!!!0 -
Hello Beginners!
The 1st episode was great! Too bad Beth isn't back yet, I miss her! How are my fellow Beth's? Make sure to add me as a friend!
I woke up this morning and weighed myself for giggles, and went from 161 to 169. I eat a lot of pickles so it could be water weight, but it's probably lack of exercise, so this challenge came at the best time!
Beginners - ADD me if you like!! Let's motivate each other.
Whoo!0 -
Hello fellow begininers! I'm completely new to this challenge and just wanted to make sure I'm doing this right. So when I do my cardio and strenght training do I need to post everything I have done here to get the credit or is it already established on my diary?0

You will need to post all of that information on the SCOREBOARD thread by Saturday night! If you click on the scoreboard thread she gave a very good example of how we should list everything! Hope this helps!

Hello all! I got in too late to join Team Daryl as I intended, but I plan to do all I can to help the Beginners as a member of the Walker Horde. Being from the Atlanta area, I have been to most of the filming locations and love this show! I was actually onsite when they were filming the scene where Glenn drives the red car to distract zombies so the rest of the group could escape the department store. I was headed to work on a Saturday morning and got stopped at the light directly across from where the car jumps the intersection and then backs up. There were zombies everywhere. I've been hooked since.0

Just to tell how old I am, when I was 2-4, I used to do exercises with my mom. She used a record player and a book with the workout exercises in it...yup, thats old.

Yes, if someone is struggling and wants some help, ASK YOUR TEAM!! They are allowed to donate to you. Just make sure to mention on the board that your time is donated, or that you donated time. We need to make sure when calculating MVP that credit is given for the extra work.

So if I donate say 20min to a team member I still get to add that 20min to my overage in my overall score?0
-
MsTiffamee wrote: »So if I donate say 20min to a team member I still get to add that 20min to my overage in my overall score?
No. You give me the score your reporting and after it, let me know if there is additional minutes donated to someone else.
something like 250/70, with addtl 50 donated to teammate. This way we know you actually got 300 cardio to go toward the MVP calculation.

I am struggling with overcoming some severe broncitis (its been a month now and my third appointment is scheduled for monday with a possible chest xray in my future); however, my second round of steroids seems to be kicking in some so i am going to try to start walking my dogs to get some cardio in. I am going to take it easy and work my way up to my normal gym routine (hopefully soon i am going crazy). My strength training will be occured at physical therapy (bad knees haha) and with my at home physical therapy homework. And I cannot see the videos so if someone could post the link in a clickable form that would be great (I am team Daryl) otherwise I will do 3 sets of a hundred (half squats). I had my forth knee surgery in May so I still have limitations. Also, I SWEAR I am not this big of a mess day to day, just having a rough patch haha. I do not think I will have an issue getting my required cardio and strength challenge minutes in as well as the character challenge but if I do I will definitely reach out! Thanks team!
Side note, are there points allotted for the completing the character challenge or just the 300 for the team beginners challenge?0 -

I don't know if this helps, but fitness blender (the Daryl challenge) has an app. I downloaded the app and watched the video on the app. It's called Cardio Kickboxing Workout - Full Length Kickboxing. If that doesn't work for you let me know and I will send you a link!

I was trying to think of something to do for the "all player" challenge regarding the workout routine with household items. I asked my husband for some ideas. He says......go in the kitchen and whisk up some pudding......lmao! Apparently he wants pudding...hahaha.0
-
Ms Tiffamee: Ha, that's funny! Great workout, for a couple minutes anyway. :-) But then you're left with pudding and I, personally, cannot resist no matter which flavor.
Are we supposed to be thinking of punishment for the other teams for next week? Any ideas?0 -
