Good morning Walkers! I did 5 more miles this morning. I also reached my biggest goal of walking 1000 miles. I had a heart attack in January and when that didn't kill me I figured I better figure out how to get healthy again. I quit smoking immediately and my doctor told me to walk a mile a day and lose 10 lbs. I thank God I found Leslie Sansone and MFP!!!!! Without the support from here and Leslie's Walk At Home program I may not have made it to my 54th birthday today!!!

Hello! Late to joining this group for November, but I am pretty new to walk at home DVDs due to a recently diagnosed lumbar spine injury. Scrolling through here I noticed a lot of you expertly vary your days! Any advice for a newbie who is used to being a little TOO aggressive with workouts? (Hence; injury)

I am humbled to take it easy, but because I have been put on Prednisone would like to still continue to lose for the holiday season. This group looks very supportive and helpful for that.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Wow PinkyPan1,
You have been through a lot. And you have accomplished so much in a short time Girl. Congratulations on #1 surviving that heart attack and # Quitting smoking-this is a HUGE accomplishment, and #3 Walking 1000 miles!

    Happy Birthday-really it's a re-birth isn't it? <3

So glad to have met you on MFP, you inspire me everyday. (*)

    Have a wonderful Birthday!! :D

    Hello and Welcome!

Hope your injury is soon a thing of the past.

There are so many safe and effective Leslie workouts I'm sure you will find some that suit you.

Here's a list IMHO that would be good to start with.

This one is new: Just Walk Mix and Match Walk Blasters. Has 10 different 10 minute walks. Mile one is called the Light Walk. She promises you won't sweat-it's a nice walk that is really more like a warm up. It should be good for someone getting back into exercising. The others vary from beginner to advanced. Nice studio, the crew are happy, and fun.

This one is ancient, but still the bomb. Walk Away the Pounds Intensity Walk. It's a compilation of 3 workouts, The 4 Mile Super Challenge, Walk and Jog and The Muscle Mile. I got mine at Target, years ago. Mile one of the Super Challenge is a beginner-intermediate mile. The next miles progress to advanced level.

Walk at Home 5 Day Slim Down, avoid the 5th mile like the plague till you are back at your top level-lol, it's tough.

And Walk Your Way Thin-Walk Off Even More Weight. It's has (2) 2 mile segments that are low impact. It "features" the Weight Belt. I got this thing and don't think much of the belt but the workout is good without it and you probably don't want anything around your waist while you are starting out anyway.

Glad you are joining us. We do have a good group who are very supportive.

    Hope this list helps.

I am super proud of myself. I have walked at least 30 minutes for the last 5 days straight and 30 minutes was actually my shortest day!

Still probably need to reign in the calories a bit but in my opinion i'm doing awesome! Looking to lose about one pound a week. I want this to be permanent and drastic changes (when it comes to diet and exercise) don't mesh well with me. lol

    Just wanted to share

    Happy Walking!!

    And....

Way to go on making your goal bandit!

    Today:

Saturday: (11.22) 4 miles- LS's 4 mile Fat Burning Walk-Walk Aerobic DVD. and 2 miles Walk Aerobic walk the other day

    6 DVD miles.

    0 outdoor minutes.

0 mini walks from Walk Blaster DVD.

My goal for November: I will walk a minimum of 2 DVD 'miles' or 30+ outside minutes at least 5 days a week and also focus on different ways to incorporate strength training, which is still a challenge b/c of the recent diagnosis of osteoarthritis with a loose ligament in my left thumb, and as the flexibility and mobility in my left wrist continues to return to normal as possible. Holding weights and using the firm band is a challenge that I shall continue to work on as I gain strength back.

So far: 21 Leslie/ or other walking DVD miles

So far: 405 outdoor minutes (in the neighborhood or in a park)

So far: 2 mini walks from Walk Blasters DVD

    Walk Happy :D
