Did my fast day yesterday and it went well until I went to bed and my head was buzzing with thoughts and not letting me sleep. I think I may have to have coffee before 10am on my fast days as I may not be metabolising the caffeine out of my body through lack of food.

    Thank you...

This happens to me too and I don't drink caffeine very much (4 or 5 times a month...in the form of diet sodas, so very little). It is not as bad as it was...you get used to it. My dreams are much more lucid when fasting. But, this is part of the human cycle (I believe), ...over the eons we have been hunters/scavengers. It has been just a hair's width on the human timeline that we have had to deal with things like diabetes, obesity, food allergies...sugar. Over that time the human body has evolved the ability to ramp up energy levels as food becomes more and more scarce. This is why metabolism increases...to give us more energy so we can get out there and get some sustenance (hunt harder...longer). Metabolism doesn't tighten up till you get somewhere around the 96 hour mark, and that's on true fasting "no food" (some studies show). That's why you burn more calories when you workout at the tail end of a fast. I notice a natural thermogenic reaction starting around the 30 hour mark...my head and back of the neck mostly, but I can feel it less so through my torso.

That's really interesting what you have said as fasting is new to me and I'm trying to crack the whole Keto thing too. I'm keeping a diary of how I feel and the longest fast I achieved was 44 hours on just water. I'm a huge tea drinker however it's low caffeine but I'm not happy with the whole removal of caffeine therefore I've limited it. I don't drink pop (soda) unless it's with vodka lol and then I'm really revved up and I can dance for England! The coffee I'm drinking is an organic fair trade espresso, mixed with coconut oil, butter and small amount of double (heavy) cream. I've given up sugar for lent but Saturday I could kill for it, what a drug that is. That's why I fasted on Sunday, to try and undo the bad I did to myself.

2 sleeps until my fast day, I can't wait.
The end of my fast days makes me feel so refreshed & also the scale the day after is such a better number than the day before.
Lost 1kg this week, so happy

    Good luck to all

You guys are all so great...I'm so happy to be a part of this great group of people. Yesterday was an amazing fast and didn't seem difficult at all. Woke up this morning (morning after my fast). Felt hungry, therefore ate too much breakfast. Going to have to work hard to keep to my TDEE! Will also try to be a bit more active today. Have a great day everyone!

My hubby brought home a 2kg halibut, we roasted the whole thing and then eat the whole thing just the two of us :o ... have know idea how many calories it was (didn't add oil, just spices) and I ate it on its own without bread, but I am sooo full and am now ready for a nap! See ya!

Feast day here, and day 2 of AIP. Sipping on some kombucha right now, and I'm on track to finish under my calories. I haven't been exercising at all but I'm so busy trying to pack for our upcoming move! our new neighborhood is MUCH more safe and secure so I'm going to start getting back into running again, and walking my daughter in the stroller.

Happy Wednesday!!!! I'm getting a bit sick of not being able to sleep. I love the energy I get but i wish it'd go away at bedtime. I didn't have any coffee so it wasn't the caffeine keeping me up... Hmmm
But I'm still waking up feeling rested. How weird is that?
Anyway have a great day /arvo/night depending on your timezone

Soooo tired. Spent the day at the zoo with my son's kinder class. Talk about herding cats! But it was priceless to see them so excited to encounter all the different animals. However, I am ready for bed. Start FD #2 tomorrow.

@bburg86 - When you have a young one, options are better than gold. So glad you will be able to get out more in your new neighborhood.

Me too!!! Where we live right now is RIGHT off a major interstate and there are always 18 wheelers flying off the exit. It's just not safe. I cannot wait to be able to get into the new place and be able to walk around!

Darn, MFP ate my post. Or maybe I keysmashed thanks to 2 hours of sleep and buzzing off abnormal levels of coffee intake haha!

Back to 50 down second week in a row, woo hoo. Ultimate goal, make my highest/starting weight of the week that 50 pounds down number lol.

I'm getting closer to my next ADIOS goal to permanently kick 290's out of ma' house forever (even on my high weigh-in days), but I CAN say for 100% sure that 295 has been permanently deported because I haven't seen it again since 2/20 woo woo.

Just completed a 6:1 maintenance week and finished the fast.

Broke it with a Quest Bar because it's late and I shouldn't make a racket in the kitchen... that was a bit anticlimactic, ha.

Today I grocery-shopped right in the middle of my fast, which was a pretty cool exercise I think. Didn't buy anything unusually stupid. Stomach growled a bit but no big deal.

    Have a good week!

    5:2 Week 2
    FD #3
    Total -1kg

I am alive & not hungry, in fact when dinner came around and I had my 2nd 250cal meal I didn't want to eat it, just didn't feel the need.
Chocolate/sweet cravings are gone, could be because I have incorporated 1 dark chocolate square per day in my diet.
Found that on my regular days I am not as hungry as I use to be, I almost don't need to calculate at all (but I am a control freak, so let's not get too hasty)

    9PM, feel good.

Good luck to you all! xx

well done everyone! I have been awful this week - four semi-fasts ie. really good until 4pm and then inability to walk past biscuits, chocolate eggs and walnut bread. Two parents' evenings haven't helped. So under 1000 but pure rubbish and junk. But I tell myself the immediate goal is losing the last stubborn 5lbs and then I'll get my head around eating properly, exercising, cleaning my house, doing my marking etc.

Fast day #2 for me!!! I am officially stuck at a plateau it seems! I've been 167.2 for over two weeks. I'm glad I'm not gaining but come on! I was 167.2 AGAIN this morning when I got on the scale. Hopefully tomorrow I'll see a drop. I just REALLY want to hit 10lbs lost! Badly!!!

    @forevertoday‌ - Woohoo! Doing great!

@lulu1066 - You can do it! Have your family hide the biscuits, chocolate eggs and walnut bread on your fast days.

@bburg86 - Your body is going through a lot of changes. Give it a bit more time before you declare yourself stuck. Could be you are converting fat into muscle which will work for you in the end.

    Well done everyone!

My second fast went ok. I'm about 200 over, but I'm Ok with that today. Feeling much better than last week. Tired now and heading off to zeezee land. 3 very busy and emotion laden days ahead of me, so a good nights sleep is definitely a good idea.

Probably won't be around much, so have fun without me :p

My second fast day tomorrow. I don't know what's going on but I couldn't stop eating today, I downed an entire 200g bar of milka caramel, about 20 chocolate covered marshmallows, 2 chocolate cream eclairs, 8 chocolate biscuits and half a twix. Also breakfast, lunch and dinner, oh and I nearly forgot the Nutella... I feel sick just reading this and yet I'm still not satiated.
