    Hi everyone;
50 this year and after being mostly vegan and vegetarian, reading the starch solution and forks over knives, I realized I was going in the wrong direction weight wise. So after reading the "other" (low carb) side I switched and found a real difference. Happy to be here to learn how people are making it work

Hi all. I can't sleep again so up reading all your updates. There are so many and I can't keep them straight in my head or my tiny phone to comment.

I had another wine binge tonight so it might be why I can't sleep. Alcohol is the devil.

Tomorrow I'm canning sauerkraut and cleaning carrots. The only thing I hate about growing carrots is cleaning them.

Hope you are all blessed and I'll be reading you later.

@pondsbb I'm not sleeping either. Out of all the benefits I'm getting from this WOE, my insomnia hasn't made the list yet (soon I hope). I clean my carrots in the washing machine. Way less time & effort. First time I ever did it my hubby was horrified, but now he's used to my oddness. I'm in city helping daughter get settled for another year of university so won't be digging my carrots & beets for at least another week or so.

Cool idea about the washing machine! We just dug potatoes too and while I'm not eating as many as I used to hubby loves them. I could throw the potato and carrot in the machine together. Hubby might think I'm drunk though..lol.

Potato skins might be too thin, but let me know how it goes if you do try it. I have never done them & this year I don't have enough to worry about. I'm only averaging about 3 spuds/hill. Think I might try growing them in tires next year.

Well hubby likes to just leave them in coolers with the dirt in tact until we use them, so I would only do the few I might be using this week. We dug about 150 pounds and they usually last us into February.

My sis is talking about using tires too.

I am not sure if that would work with a front load. They would be mush by the time the cycle was done! LOL

Ha , good way to mash potatoes. I don't own a front loader.

Hello everyone. On Day 2 of my egg fast. Yesterday had 6 eggs, 2 tbsp coconut oil, 4 tbsp butter, & 1 serving marble cheese. Tried to get 100 oz water but think I may have fell short. Due to running all over city paying tuition, buying textbooks, getting a "study" chair, & then going to casino for couple hours I didn't finish eating til 9:30 at night. Did resist temptation at lunch & casino so that's a win for me. Did have a few diet cokes tho instead. Am 2 lbs down this am, so back to where I was a month ago. Hopefully these pesky 2 lbs will stay off this time (been losing & gaining them over & over for past month), & stall will remain broken. Am planning on doing 2 more days, then slowly transition to LCHF. Following "IBreatheIAmHungry" plan.
    Have a good one, ladies.

Hi Kathie! It's great that the egg fast seems to be working and I hope these 2 pounds are gone for good and they take some of their friends with them! Congrats on resisting the temptation of food at the casino! Huge accomplishment there! Hope the transition to your chosen LCHF plan is smooth and successful! btw: getting the kids situated at college is a big echoes! I'm learning that now too!

Thanks Karla. Day 2 is done & I'm actually quite hungry now, but won't eat til morning (11:30 pm here). Daughter is entering her 3rd year but had a bad spell this summer with depression so we had her quit the summer class & come home. Really felt she should be fresh for this fall rather than get some extra classes in. She worked last summer & paid her own tuition, but with the extra classes this year she didn't work as much, so she's really noticing the financial crunch. I'm staying til Friday but told her anytime things get to be too much I'm only a call away & I'll come stay again. It's tough forcing them to get out on their own, isn't it?

Yes Kathie, forcing them to take responsibility for themselves can be a challenge. With Landon staying with hubby parents during the school week he's not getting the true live away from home experience. I hope he gets the desire for independence one day. My fingers are crossed. I am sure the summer off from school had to take a load off for your daughter! I sure hope this semester will be better for her and less worrisome for you too. I'm glad that you are able to be there for her if needed. I am sure that is added peace of mind.

I finally had a 4.75 inch drop in measurements (2 from waist alone)!!! So happy to have some good news to report after these couple months of major renovation! I had plenty of "excuses" to go carb crazy, but am so fortunate that I was able to stick it out!

Believe me, it's worth hanging in there with what works!

Hello all I am Sandy, 56, day care provider in California. I am twice widowed but living with an amazing man now. I do medifast. on average 1000 calories max and 80-90 carbs. I have done this a year now and am down 100 pounds. I am in the home stretch 50 left to lose. I know as I get older it gets a bit harder. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to all the lovely new ladies. Glad you found us.
@Karla a 2" drop in your waist is phenomenal! Measuring for me is hit & miss. I don't seem to hit the same spot each time & drawing lines to follow with a sharpie marker doesn't seem such a good idea either.
So Day 2 of the egg fast is done. 2 eggs, BPC-breakfast; cheese string & easy egg salad -lunch; snicker doodle crepes & cheese string -supper. Still don't think got the 100 oz of water in, but at least 80. Down 1 lb this am, not as big a loss as others, but a loss is a loss, I figure.
Well off to have my scrambled eggs for breakfast (am getting a little tired of plain eggs), then check the "IBreatheIAmHungry" site for today's menu & recipes..
    Have a good day, all.

    Welcome Sandy!

I always measure at the same spots. I know the belly button isn't the true waist, but makes measuring simpler when using these landmarks. It's something I'm definitely glad I started in the beginning!

I did not mention we went on a 10 day alaskan cruise and my weight jumped 15 pounds -- yeah totally deserved, but..... well this morning down to 239 again whewwwww came back at 250. Almost back to virgin territory. feeling better with it off, was getting hip pain back. being over weight at 56 is harder than 26 for sure.

Jealous of the Alaskan cruise! I bet that was nice but do believe the 24 hour availability of food can be tough. Especially when you've paid for it. Glad the weight is coming off!! It's amazing how bad just a few pounds can make us feel!

Hello everyone. Checking in after my week at daughter's. Only did egg fast for 2 days, will try this week again. Pouring rain for 2 days now, so digging up carrots, beets, & potatoes will have to wait. Actually got below 0 the other night, so am assuming no cucumbers for me. SIL brought me some to make relish, thank goodness.
    Hope everyone's weekend went well.
