I ran a 5k tonight and finished 3rd in my age group...20th overall. I didn't walk and did my best time yet!

This is the first on road 5k I've done in more than 20 years.

I LOVE this thread! You all are such amazing inspirations! This week, I ordered company uniforms for the first time in my life. I'm a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and I HATE that my work clothes are close but never the same as my peers'. This was one huge step for me towards feeling like a real person.

Wow @rpyle111! What a wonderful way to reward yourself!!! Have fun!

Back in the USA!!! Sitting in the Miami airport waiting for my last flight on the trip. It will be good to sleep in my own bed tonight after 7 days sleeping in a tiny bed on a boat.

Had a great time, caught some beautiful fish, spent some quality time with my cousin, uncle and 12 new BraziIian friends!

I'll post some pics today or tomorrow!

Woohooo!! This is fantastic. I always hated being "othered" away from people in uniform environments, so this one really makes me smile for you.

I can now ... drive without my stomach touching the steering wheel with 10 to 12 inches to spare....
My driver's seat used to be too tight and now the steering wheel is way too far away - a whole arms length - and it is impossible to fathom that my stomach used to fill that vast area!

I brought my daughter back to college yesterday. In August, I could only make one slow trip up three flights of stairs to her dorm room (empty handed). This time I made three trips in a row carrying bags/boxes without any problems! Yes, I was "listening" to the theme from Rocky in my head, lol!

Both my wedding and engagement rings are too loose to wear, but I don't want to resize until I've finished losing and stabilized for a while.

I was digging through my jewelry box trying to find a placeholder and came across my high school senior class ring...it's too big too!

Good afternoon! Brand new to this group. I'm 4 1/2 months post-VSG. Chugging along nicely! Had an odd, but awesome NSV on Monday. There was a death in my extended family. Since my parents live out of town the obligatory visitation always falls to me. I got all dressed up, and headed there after work. Several people had no idea who I was. One of them is a cousin, haven't seen him in about 8 years, but we worked together...our desks next to each other, for more than five years. Neither him nor his wife recognized me at all. They even asked flat out, "I'm sorry, do we know you?" Another cousin's husband hasn't seen me in about 18 months. He had to ask his daughter who I was. My aunt kept wanting to stop people that just walked past me. I told her I was enjoying my new super power, the ability to hide in plain sight!

For some reason I have hesitated to post soooo many of mine because I was embarrassed of all that I've given up. Many of them are small but put a big smile on my face...bending over to tie my shoes, fitting in patio chairs without worrying that I'll break them, meeting the weight limits of exercise equipment, being ABLE to do normal exercises. These things have made my quality of life sooo much better. However, yesterday I tried on the leather pants that I wore when I met my husband 16 years ago...not only did they fit, but they are too big!! I'm officially smaller than my husband has ever seen me. I feel like this allows me to hold my head higher. I've "undone" all of the unhealthy things that I've done to myself since he met me! Yay new chapter and still shrinking!

Finally went down a pant size! After all these months and all these pounds I had lost I was in the same size for so long. I thought I was going to be trapped in those 28s forever...I must have really been squeezing into them tight when I started! :)

decruisers, I'm right there with you! Just last week I bought a pair of size 18 pants *without* the W...and they fit. (barely, but good enough for me). It's been 15+ years since I've been able to shop in the Misses section. I was honestly shocked at the selection in comparison to the Women's/ Plus section.

Ok. One scale victory and one NSV. On Saturday I hit 100lbs gone from my high in August (VSG 10/15/15), now at 102lbs, it's a bit surreal to see the number creeping so slowly towards the 199 mark.

I just had my blood work done for my annual physical. Last year, May 1, my triglycerides were 364. As of yesterday, they were 75! SEVENTY-FLIPPING-FIVE! I'm still in a haze over that one. Before they sent me a copy they left a message that my lipid panel was "normal". I couldn't fathom they came down THAT much. I keep opening the report and staring. EVERY value was in normal range (except iron, but I knew that was coming). I have been on 14k IU of vitamin D for YEARS because my numbers have NEVER been above a 7. (if you know about D levels, that's frightening low.) I can now try lowering that to 7k IU.

I'm in a bit of a haze. For me, this surgery was about regaining my health. The weight loss has been an added bonus. It has been a very welcomed side effect, but was not my primary reasoning for the surgery. Now, to see that I was able to so quickly reverse things I am so much happier than I was Saturday. And when I saw that 100lbs gone on Saturday, I was over the moon!

I managed to jog EIGHT miles today total. Four this morning with my husband and another four tonight on my own. The second round took a full minute longer but I still rocked it out!

Visited Coast Guard recruit training this week, did a pre-dawn spinning class with 42 eighteen to twenty-two year olds and their company commander. I held my own, even though I'm as old if not older than most of their parents. Felt great. Never dreamed I'd be able to do something like that again!

My NSV is that I stopped caring. I care about what I eat and how I feel, but I stopped caring about the number on the scale. First, I totally forgot my "19th of the month" mandatory weigh-in. Looking back, I've weighed once since February 19th. Second, someone asked me yesterday how much I weighed and that's when I realized that I hadn't weighed in forever and I really didn't know (or care) how much I weighed. I feel good and I look good and that's what matters to me now.

Not sure if this counts, but it felt like a victory to me so I'll throw it out there. I'm a messy car person and I'll usually throw stuff onto the floor of the passenger seat until I feel like cleaning it out. Well today I looked over and where there used to be candy wrappers, gas station burger wrappers, and soda bottles...there was just water bottles and empty protien shake containers. It was an unexpected reminder of how I've changed my daily life :)
