Thanks for the cheerleading you guys!! I saw Jen's & Lynn's posts about 3:30 when one of the boys had to potty and it started me thinking that maybe I should suck it up and get up early to get some minutes in before we travel for the day. Then when the boys got up at just before 4:30 for their breakfast I was still contemplating because going back to bed sounded very tempting!! However, then I saw Debbie's post and figured I should suck it up and get down here...so here I am...on the elliptical!!
One thing I do want to mention is that while it's important to get minutes in, this leg of the race it takes an additional 562.1 minutes to get 10 points...BUT, last I checked, we still have the potential for 165 points from the challenges...165 POINTS!!!! So please, if you have not done the challenges and still can, PLEASE do them. They are huge to the success of the team. If you know you cannot get a particular challenge, please place a 0 in there so I know it is not a place for potential points.
Finally, THANK YOU because we are doing amazing!! You guys are amazing!! Let's keep this momentum up throughout the race!! Have a great Sunday!!4 -
Going for my run soon! It'll be a chilly one this morning. It's 4c here! Then I am taking the teenager and his friend to the indoor trampoline place....so much fun. We'll play some dodgeball and jump on the trampoline a whole bunch! I'll get lots in today!2

Did my last workout of the week already and all worn out, but it's early in the day. If we are close and need some extra minutes to get another 10-point bonus, and it looks desperate, I can go to the gym tonight and walk on the treadmill. I'll check back late afternoon.1

@MissionEnforcerHi my name is Kimberly, I live in beautiful Austin, Texas. I'm 31 years old and I work as an Assistant Director of Athletics for the local school district. I am married and have two children: 2 and 4. Since leaving coaching and starting to sit at a desk all day I've noticed my weight creep up. I currently workout 3-4 times a week with camp gladiator. Looking forward to the challenge. I will check in tomorrow AM.

you need to say a little bit about the place that you are from for challenge 1 rather than about yourself1 -
@kb13sport Also, after adding your brief description, be sure and enter the "10" in the challenge box, on the spreadsheet.0

Finally getting a chance to check in with the group. You all have been an active bunch this weekend. I have not had a whole lot of time to play on the PC this weekend, its been crazy. But i have managed to get in some exercise, but just a little bit. I did however definitely complete the water portion of the challenge without any problems. Hopefully next week will be a little better. Although I cant promise the weekend will be any better, have a dog show on Saturday & Sunday. Luckily its not to far from my house and wont be all day long.
You guys are all dong great work and should pat yourselves on the back for working hard the first week of the challenge4 -
@MissionEnforcer I don't think I tagged you when I did my intro....so one more time just to make sure I'm following the rules! I live in the great state of Texas where I work in health care. I'm addicted to the show amazing race, so doing this challenge might be the closest I ever get to doing it lol.
@lbenson2006 got your msg about the sheet and when I open it my responses from earlier this week were still there, but my Saturday updates had disappeared. I added everything back but just in case my minutes are 64 -M, 60-T, 120-W, 120 - Sat. And then I should have points for the three challenges, challenge #1 hadn't been verified. I sent out any remaining friend requests either Friday or Saturday, did my water, and the drum videos.2 -
@MissionEnforcer Hi everyone! I made it back safely from Disney world. It was more difficult than I thought it would be to access everything from my phone thank you @lbenson2006 for your help posting for me! I forgot to give a description of my hometown. I live in a town in central PA that is surrounded by farm country basically. It is beautiful out here and I love how gorgeous everything looks in the fall. I do have access to a small little town with a courthouse and little park with a running path and a library and cute little shops. This town is within walking distance from our house and something we like to do is walk into town and explore. The park is next to a large creek where ducks frequently like to hang out and you will often find people feeding ducks there. We live in a townhouse which is right across from a farm field actually. I love it though!4

Team 2, I think we have had a great week! My exercise minutes are not as high as I would like since the sinus goo has come back on me this weekend. Today was pretty well a day in bed in order to try and be ready to tackle the work week. Thanks for such encouragement and work as a team.3

@lbenson2006 Cahokia Mounds are totally worth it! Free to see the museum and walk the grounds. Plus our family has a link to a part of the display with ax heads that were dug up from the surrounding area by my father in laws brother, Delmont Pearson. If you get a chance, I highly encourage you to go. Walking around the site and climbing the stairs to Monks Mound make for some great exercise minutes!0

Looks like we are tied for fourth? But we still have some empty spots on minutes and challenges...anyone out there that can post stil has time!1

THE WEEK TWO DESTINATION AND CHALLENGES ARE FINALLY UP AND RUNNING!
WEEK ONE FINAL RESULTS AND THE NEW SPREADSHEET WILL BE POSTED BY MORNING!
YOU ALL ARE AN AMAZING GROUP!
I LOVE THE ENTHUSIASM!
HAPPY RACING!3 -
Woohoo!! Great job team, no matter what place we ended up in, we all gave it our best shot. Life gets in the way sometimes, but the main goal is that we do what we can to try to make ourselves healthier people and have fun doing it.
We are on our way to Transylvania this week! All the challenges seem doable. I already have challenge one videos done. It did take right around 34 minutes. There are 5 videos, clearly marked, and you have to do each of them twice. I have a hard time following these types of videos for multiple reasons, the main thing is just keep moving and do what you can do.
For challenge #2, I would start working on this as soon as you can. I have 15 stairs coming back up from the basement, and if I remember correctly, 27 stairs up to my floor at work. If during the work week I should be doing the home stairs once and the work stairs twice each day, this only gets me 345 stairs in my usual routine. Therefore, I will definitely have to find time to get extra stairs in just for the challenge. Please try coming up with ways to get this done early. If you decide to do this by going up and down stairs until you get your number you are looking for, remember to only count going up and also, time yourself because this can count towards your minutes.
Challenge # 3 will be super simple for me. I always eat a snack after dinner but it is definitely within that 2 hour window and I'm usually in bed before 10.
Happy Monday, Team 2 Beat!!5 -
Yeah seems like an easier week this week - Challenge 2 and 3 will be very easy for me - I dont snack after dinner - so that's that one done. Plus I work from home - the printer is upstairs and I am up and down the stairs all day lol!!! Am tracking it now to make sure I get there - am also throwing in a few extra trips for good measure - so am already well on my way to nailing that one!!1
-
I never eat after 10pm. That is pretty much bed time...so that is already done!! I am excited about Challenge 2. This will give me an excuse to visit stairs in our neighbouring city. There are 326 stairs... @MissionEnforcer does going down count towards the stair count?
2 -
@Joanna2012B - WOW that looks fun lol!!! going downstairs doesnt count unfortunately! looks like u gotta go up that sucker twice he he0
-
@DebbieNeedham1 Oh I was planning twice, but now I may have to do it 3 times. That unfortunate, going down stairs is as much of a workout as going up. I am getting my 770 in one shot!!1

Oh no lol!!!! well fair play to ya - I am racking mine up bit by bit - already at 140 steps - got someone popping over soon then will do the vids and a bit of extra stuff - I have had to quit on the October challenge as am just not well enough atm to do it - maybe I will try again in November - doesnt mean I am giving up though - I downloaded a couple of apps - 30 day butt and 30 day ab challenge - not as intense as Oct challenge but I am taking my time and still working - the minutes also go towards the race miles... I have checked in though - you guys are doing amazing!!! You got any thoughts of a challenge for November???

Holy smokes! What a great fight, and so impressive for all of the teams. Team 2 you guys are awesome! I am amazed. The stairs will be the hardest for me as I have bad knees, but I am going to do it. Last amazing race we had a stair climb, I just paced it out all week long and kept an ongoing log of steps taken at my desk. I counted every stair I took. I now have a house with stairs. I go up them between 10-15 times a day.

Great destination. My grandmother was from Satu Mare in Romania/Hungry (depending on the year - it switched hands multiple times during the wars). It is a city outside of Transylvania that once had the highest population of Jewish inhabitants in Romania. After WWII the Jewish population dropped from over 22K to just about 60. My grandmother's cousin married a Jewish woman right before WWII and his relatives wrote an amazing story about how after the war he tried to return to Satu Mare from the concentration camp only to have all his belonging confiscated by the Russians. He ended up in Argentina pretending to be christian. Sad story but beautiful city!
I am dedicated to getting my life back in order starting today. That means getting the running, strength and eating parts lined up. One day at a time. Already did the videos and plan to hit a run on my prep period.6 -

That's ok Debbie...your health is more important. I am looking for a new challenge for November. Tim was going to create one, I will encourage him to do so!!
I'm thinking something that doesn't involve planks...LOL1 -
I see we have to work very hard to catch up with 1st place. We all did well for our life circumstances. Steps will be a challenge for me as I get shooting pain in my knees with stepping up if I do too many at a time. I want to get them done with though so I will take breaks as often as I need to while getting as much as I can in next couple evenings. I might go to school and climb the outdoor bleachers and rest as needed. Keep it up Team 2 Beat!2

OK great - keep me posted - lol!!! yeah I know what you mean - or at least maybe not at such crazy levels lol!!! Just finished Challenge 1 - took a wee bit more out of me than anticipated - never mind - that's some points on the board - quite enjoyed it actually - although my cats, who were waiting for their tea - were rather bemused at my antics pmsl!!!1
