Hey all you FABULOUS fives... we have a nice lead, but still lots of blanks for our challenges. Let's step it up and challenge ourselves to get all our challenge points this week. I know it can be a struggle with the holiday week, but hopefully we can and gain some ground on Team 1!!5

I DID IT!
The last 5K I ran was 1.5 years ago; I had completed C25K and had worked really hard. My goal was to run the whole thing in under 45 minutes. My time ended up at 38 minutes.
Yesterday I ran the Turkey Trot 5K in Madison. I hadn't done a very good job of training for it; daylight savings really limits my time to run. My goal this year was to run the whole thing in under 45 minutes: it was really hard, I was convinced for most of it that I'd have to stop to walk.... but I willed myself to that finish line in 38:30 - I ran the whole way.
I'm the one in the gray:
Today I helped with the scholarship foundation yogathon bootcamp. I ended up doing the 1 hour bootcamp. It was super hard and I had to modify half the exercises.... but I did it. Tomorrow I am going to pay for it with sore muscles, but I'm really glad I did it!6 -
@ajfuelling - Absolutely fabulous! Bravo for running the entire 5K! I have yet to do that (I walk/jog/walk) but am always proud just to have finished.
With family here for 2 days it's been tough to do much intentional exercise, but I did manage to get a few minutes here and there. I still need to do one more round of the Rockettes training and then all challenges complete. I'll knock that out first thing in the morning.

@alfuelling brilliant well done .
@Raebeebeby must be tough well done.
Just finished challenge 2 .. 3 X 6 = 18. phew ! spaced it out over the week .
now to get the extra miles in.
GOOD LUCK TEAM 5.

Congratulations @ajfuelling! You're inspiring!3

All points achieved and updated. My minutes aren't super high but I will add some more tomorrow when I am not acting as mom to this adorable little dude. He is 4 days old, a Cape Fur Seal. Mom gave birth on a busy beach and abandoned him so we are trying to hand raise him. That means it is my job to ensure he gets lots of cuddles and love...
6 -
Great picture @CaptainBoing - love how the seal already knows how to 'mug' for the camera...way too cute!!
Great job on the race @ajfuelling !! Man, you have been one busy lady this week. Any way to bottle some of your energy and share it? Have fun at your wine party tonight!!
Well done Fab Fives! Everyone is cranking out the minutes and challenges this week despite the holidays! Way to keep pushing it! Glad to see we made it to NYC. Only three teams there right now.
Scheduled a focused workout session today since I didn't do anything yesterday, and this week has been a little light for me. Did Rockettes workout (1 set); Radio Taiso videos 1&2 (still love them); Planks - 3 sets for 5 minutes; 5 Kettlebell exercises (3 sets each); Gazelle glider for 45 minutes (3.21 miles); More Planks - 3 sets for 5 minutes; Rockettes workout (2d set to complete the challenge - with one set done on Monday); and wrapped up with another set of the Radio Taiso videos 1 & 2. I'm a bit tired, but it's a good tired. I really wanted to space out the Rockettes workouts to different days, but it wasn't happening on Thursday or Friday the way I was feeling.
So minutes logged, and challenges completed! I should get some more minutes tomorrow as I'm hopefully doing some gardening and should be putting up Christmas decorations outside (and maybe inside). Hope everyone in the US had a great Thanksgiving!1 -
Great work everyone! Let's hold onto this lead! I didn't think is get too many minutes today, but I've gotten in a lot of walking. Walked to and from the mall and also took my dog for a walk.2
-
I hope everyone has had a wonderful thanksgiving and that you're not feeling too stuffed!
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK or Norway, but it's nice to take a moment and reflect on reasons to be thankful. Moving to Norway has been difficult and I'm still adapting to the way of life here. I left behind my family, who although skeptical at first have been very supportive in my decision to live abroad with my partner - they just want me to find happiness in life. My partner has been my rock and I've been dependent on him while I find my feet. I have been increasingly erratic with my emotions due to anxiety and uncertainty about the future, but he has always been patient and forgiving. He reassures me in my insecurities - helping me realise how silly and insignificant they can be - and reminds me that he loves me. Sometimes I can't believe he tolerates me, but I am thankful for the time he shares with me each day. I am lucky that his family are also supportive and have been like a second family to me. We will be visiting my family for Christmas and I am really looking forward to being together with all my loved ones.6 -

Finished the Rocketts challenge tonight. Mon, Weds, and Sat. I really liked that "routine" - good for the legs!4
-
Completed my challenges. I pulled my groin, so it was a rather slow 5K walk.
I am thankful for my health and for my family. I'm fairly healthy and able to play the sport I love. My family supports me, even if my life choices took me to another continent. I am very thankful for my amazing partner, who keeps me level when I need it. After losing my mother-in-law last year, I am even more thankful for my own parents and how accepting and loving they are.
Thanksgiving is not celebrated here, but for some reason, we do get some Black Friday sales.4 -

Has anyone heard from @KatKat1209 ? No minutes for the week and no challenge points entered. Hoping she's okay!
I see Team 1 is finally logging all their missing minutes, so they have pulled ahead of us (and for once even have more minutes than us). We can still come back though! Because we're the Fab Five!2 -
Let's go fab fives! I've been feeling lazy all day, but just hopped on my bike for 25 minutes. I'll try to do some yoga too.2
-
All minutes added and finished my rockette challenge. Hope everyone had a great weekend!! It is my last week in the first grade class I am working in, so I will be updating but probably late next week.3
-
Morning Everybody,
Okay.. It still have to write what I'm thankful for at the 5 point challenge
Well I'm thankful for my family and friends of course. And I'm thankful for the opportunities I was given in life so far. And for most of the choices I made. In general I'm simply thankful for my life as it is cause i'm a pretty happy person
Challenge: Turkey Trot - since it was a normal work week in the rest of the world there also was no turkey trot here .. or at least even if there was I couldn't have attended one. so I walked with the doggies for about 7km in total yesterday.
the Rockettes challenge: done on Saturday - well these were quite hard in the end but doable!4 -
I finished the Rockette's challenge this morning, along with a bunch of other exercise. Trying to burn off some of the extra calories I'm SURE I gained over the past few days of Thanksgiving and son's birthday celebration.
All challenges completed and added 135 minutes for today!3 -
Before we leave New York, I thought I'd share a bit about my trip to that amazing city. Sorry if this is a bit long, so feel free to just skip if you're not interested.
About 7 years ago I had a chance to go to NYC with my son and daughter-in-law. My daughter-in-law is in the fashion industry and her friend gave her some tickets to a runway show during New York fashion week. They invited me to go along! Of course, I said YES! My husband wasn't really that interested so he stayed home with the pups and wished me a fun time. Love you, bye-bye!!
When we got to NYC it was at the tail end of a 2 week snow storm and it was bitter cold - averaging about 12-15 degrees and lots of snow still on the ground. Even with the weather I managed to pack a week's worth of close into my carry-on! We had rented an apartment in Brooklyn because it was a lot cheaper than a hotel in Manhattan. The apartment was a 3rd story brownstone walk-up, so no elevator. However, it was very spacious for NYC - 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms! I learned very quickly that New Yorkers walk A LOT! Our apartment was 10 blocks from the subway station and we came and went into Manhattan via subway every single day. I had to get used to seeing rats in the subway, but talk about good people watching!! Nearly every subway station had street performers playing music or dancing.
The fashion show was super fun. We waited in line (with wine) for about 90 minutes before getting into the show which lasted all of 10 minutes! Beautiful clothes and we did get to see a lot of interesting people and got lots of freebies like hair products and chocolates.
Our last night in NYC we went to a wonderful restaurant for dinner. It was Robert at Columbus Circle on the top floor of the Museum of Arts and Design. The view to die for, the food incredible. The waiter came up and offered us the very last they had of an "amazing Pinot Noir wine from the Willamette Valley in Oregon". Seriously? That's where I live! The winery is only about 10 miles from my house. Is that a crazy coincidence or what? I still remember being enthralled by the experience. Afterwards we went to Time's Square and walked around for awhile. We decided we needed some dessert and drinks so ended up at a place called Sofia's in Little Italy. That was the most memorable experience of all. There was a 3 piece band playing near the bar and we ordered some drinks and listened to them for awhile. There was a group of ladies at the bar with a cake and turns out they were celebrating the birthday of one of the band members. Before we knew it we were part of the party, eating rum cake and singing along with the band. Everyone was SO NICE! So all that crap about rude New Yorkers - we never experienced it once. They sent us home with a huge plate of rum cake (which my son shared with people on the subway) and wonderful memories of New York!
After I got home I was telling a friend at work about it and I did mention how much garbage there was everywhere and how that was pretty disappointing. She'd lived there before and thought I was nuts! What garbage she asked?? All over the streets and on the sidewalks! Garbage everywhere! Turns out that during the snow storm all the garbage trucks had been converted to snow plows and they hadn't picked up trash for over 3 weeks. No wonder there was trash everywhere. People were just tossing it on the sidewalks and the snow was covering it.
So now, I'd love to go back to NYC in the spring when there's no garbage issue. See a Broadway play and go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art - things that we didn't have time for. Visit the twin towers memorial now that it's completed. If you ever get a chance to go, please do it! It's the city that never sleeps and it's pretty darn incredible!
I NY!

Same. Cut it really close to my maintenance calories all weekend and even went a little over on Friday. Was already planning on getting it back in check, but it will be nice to have a little extra accountability.4 -
Ever have that day at the gym where you just breeze through your workout, and you feel like you are kicking butt because nothing is hurting or tiring? Yea, that was NOT my workout today...lol. I don't know if it's because I started with the stairmaster and did 10 minutes of steps toward the challenge (goal was to get 1/2 done which would have been about 20 minutes, but I only got to 10 minutes before being completely pooped). Or if it was because I'm still sore from that Rockettes workout and trying to catch up on Planks for another challenge over the weekend. Or if it was because I'd not been to the gym since last Monday. Or if it was just one of those days. Wanted to come home and knock out the videos, but man, I'm thinking a nap is in my near future.
Seems Team 1 is pretty invincible. For the first time, they kicked our butts in minutes this week (had three people with over 1000 minutes). I think we tied them this week in challenge points, which was awesome!! Sorry, but I just couldn't push myself much farther last night to get more minutes because I was so sore from Saturday (darn that Rockettes challenge)!
But we are keeping them on their toes, so that is good for us and them!
Though I have to say...this has crossed my mind at this point about Team 1...
No matter what just remember, we're...
Though I did get a chuckle from this meme that I found while looking for some "fabulous pictures"...not really sure what it really means, but it had me chuckling...
I don't know...I think we're still pretty fabulous...we've been working so hard - maybe we should take a bit of a workout break and make a detour to Disneyworld FL on the way to Peru, to hang out with some other Fab Fivers...
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday...and you know what...have a great week! We're Fabulous and we're still rocking this challenge!! Keep up the great work Fab Fivers!4 -
