Week 6 Day 3
Had a fever this morning, but I popped a Sudafed, Advil, and Tylenol and ran anyway.
Not only THAT, but I ran the first 15 mins, had a walk break and then kept running during the second 5 min run... until I hit 15 mins again!!
That's two sets of 15!
Bring on the 20 min run.9 -
Week 5 is in the books!
Day 3 complete!4 -
I got my 5k race in today. It was the Shamrock Shuffle in Madison WI. My chip time was 31:54. I ended up doing my 5k210k training afterwards. It was a lot of fun. A fairly hilly course meant a lot of people walking that I had to dodge. At one point a lady with a jogging stroller totally blew by me too.
This is awesome! Congratulations!
I have a race next Saturday - looking forward to it. So far just do my 5k's3 -
I've run another 3 since then I'm going to carry on doing them 3 times a week for a little while, after that, not really sure! I'll probably start training for the 10k after that, and slowly work my way towards a marathon

Week 7 Day 1 done. Still working on my pace and not starting out too fast so that I can complete the run portion stronger.7
-
W6D2 in the books. I ran faster than usual and harder than prescribed by my app because I was running hurt and angry today. Funny how all life's difficulties seemed to have melted away by the time I was finished.7

I am just starting...again. This time, I'm bringing my 11 year old along for the ride, and my 5 year old will be doing it on his bike with us. Signed up for a 5K Glow Run on May 27 yesterday, and ran w1d1 today. Should be done with the program May 12, and have a week and a half to have a few practice runs before the race. I'm so excited!! This is going to be an active year. Can't wait.8

Week 7 Day 1 (sort of!)
I'm still sick... I feel weaker. I had worried about this a couple days ago during my last run. One of the reasons I decided to force myself to go run while not feeling 100%.
I did 10 minutes and decided to quit. I was just too weak. Right now I'm winded walking around let alone running!
I'll try again tomorrow. On the trail. It's more fun on the trail anyways!4 -
Jocko Willink talks about this, training even when he's not feeling it because he's tired and over-trained or he's not feeling well. He says he forces himself to go do it the first day just to make sure he's not just giving in, or allowing the voice in his head that wants to be lazy to alter his perception of his physical state, or just being undisciplined. But after that first day when he forces himself to train, if he still feels badly for his next session, THEN he'll skip it because he knows it's a legit reason.
Rest up, feel better, and then get after it when you've bounced back.3 -

I BEAT WEEK 4 DAY 1!
It sounds silly, but I had no idea this workout was going to be so hard. I don't read the workout summaries so I don't psych myself out beforehand, so 2 3 minute runs and 2 5 minute runs completely took me by surprise.6 -
Week 6 is over. Had a little sensation in my left knee this morning, went running hoping it wouldn't turn to pain; it hasn't. Maybe I slept funny or something. Should be starting week 7 on Wednesday and I'm pretty stoked to be just 2 weeks away from the finish line. I'm sure my pace is good to get it done, I'm only concerned about whether the lengthy periods of straight run will get to me.8
-
Missed my run yesterday because of a family emergency. Was awake for 36 hours straight until bed last night. I'm giving myself today to get back to normal (whatever that is) and will start my week 6 tomorrow.6

Week 6 Day 1 complete. I'm back on track.
(see what I did there?11 -
W1D2 last night. My ... I don't know ... Groin tendons? ... They were/are so sore! I still made it through my running intervals, but it would have been so much better if those weren't so sore. Hopefully they will be better for tomorrow's run. I am absolutely loving it. It's so hard, but I love that I can push by body through and not let a little leg soreness stop me. I know it's only sore because I'm not use to doing it and not because I've done any damage, so it's even better. It hurts so good. Lol8

New to this thread, but I finished week six last night and should be starting week seven tomorrow or Saturday (might wait till Saturday because we are travelling out of town and think it would be fun to explore our new surroundings and run there instead)! I ran my first 5k at a very slow pace during week 5 of the program (right under 40 minutes), and am signed up for a four mile race at the end of April! I hope to work on my pace after I finish the program!4
-
Week 7 underway as of this morning. Also had an appointment with my orthopedist about a hyperextended elbow and I'm cleared to lift weights. Think I'll be waiting 2 more weeks until C25K is done before I start trying to run and squat.
Brans, have you been pretty sedentary? If so, did you begin with a week or two of walking before you started your program? Regardless of your answers, good job. You can *kitten* do this.
Wanda, I DO see what you did there.3 -
Week 7 is done! I am still not hitting the 2.5 miles while I run, but I am running more and going further with each run. When I started this my mile was 18 mins, I hit 13:50 for my 2nd mile today! I will be working on stamina after the 2nd mile because I struggle for the last few minutes begging my headset to say begin cool down. Next week will be challenging!4
-
Week 2, day 1 in the books. This is my 4th time doing c25k, but more challenging this time around. Didn't help that my gps clunked out. I was injured in a car accident last June. Didn't run at all until last week. I guess you have to restart somewhere4

You are doing GREAT, people! Keep pushing on and when you graduate I hope we see more of you over on the Bridge to 10K board. It is kind of lonely over there!2

Groundhog Day here... repeated Week 3 Day 3 for the 11th time.
Scare-red of the 5 minute jaunt on Week 4 Day 1...

@Just_Eric
Yes, I had been walking for a few weeks, and riding my bike with the kids. I really made sure I was ready before I started so I didn't hurt myself. And my legs are much better now! I'm using a different C25K program than most; I use RunKeeper, which syncs all my activities on here automatically. Today was my 3rd run and it was 1.5 miles walk/run, just as much as I could without pushing too hard. I was able to "run" for the first mile (after my 5 minute warm up), then walked for a little over 1/10th of a mile, then "ran" another 1/4 mile. It is always so much harder to start running again after I walk a bit! I feel accomplished though, so that's good. Fixin to go with my mini for a little bike ride now around the park, then play for a while.2 -
I was a little slower this morning. Ugh. But I made it without calling 911.
(something funny is going on with my voice - I sound like Minnie Mouse. And I've a small cough .)

Just do it. Slow down and do it. You will be surprised. Keep telling yourself you can do it and you will.

Week 7 Day 1!
My sickness really knocked me down some. But I'm back now!
AND I have a new running partner! I adopted a dog! A year old German Shepherd who I named Sheriff!

7.2 just finished. That mild discomfort inside my left knee cap was back right at the end when I ramped upped the pace a bit. Perhaps going a little faster results in some sort of breakdown in my mechanics. I'll need to be mindful of it this last few workouts so as not to find myself on the bench.3
