@emmab0902 Like I said on the News Feed ???? Being Too Slow and they DQ. Seems wrong.
Your Gold to your MFP friends Miss E.
Silver in the 400 free - most excellent.

I could understand a DQ for rolling to early and taking to many front crawl stroke's before flipping or dolphin to far off the wall. Not for gliding too long.

I have never HEARD of that! It definitely slows you down so doesn't make much sense. Did you maybe roll too much while you were gliding?

Excellent job on the 400 Free! Don't let this DQ get you down for your next races. Just put it behind you and focus on tomorrow.

@aliciamariaq it was gliding into the wall. No rolling no extra strokes or kicking. Gutted.

75 minutes at my usual pace, so I'm guestimating the distance at 1.5 miles or so

    Impressive time drops, Emma. Wow!
Yesterday was the first time I've combined bike commuting (10 miles each way) with an evening swim. Felt great but definitely slower in the water.

@emmab0902 Impressive list of PB's. Loved the Feast after the competition.

Last night of Adult Swim Club last night.
10 minute sessions. Different drill sets in each session.
This was planned so each person got 10 minutes of one-on-one time with the instructor/coach.
My 10 minutes was spent working on my front crawl - 3 stroke breathing. My left side my roll is chopped/more like a snap turn than a roll causing breathing cycle issues after a while. The coach also put me in the Finis Forearm Swim Fulcrum aid1zwrlz9expg4.jpg
as I still drop my left wrist just before hand entry which acts like a parking brake and causes a huge storm of bubbles on that side.
Mixed drills for the rest of the session.
10 minute swim - Choice stroke. Managed 450m
10 minute Kick Drill set, choice of kicks. Front 3 x 50m, Back 3 x 50m. Mixed the back between the 50 front sets.
10 minute Drill set. Finger drag, Pull Buoy Breathing - 4 stroke all left (weak) side, One arm Back, Back Lane Rope Pull.
10 minutes of flip turn practise with dolphin out from the wall.

Got my mile in before class (do I ever write anything else??). I'm working on more kicks. When I started swimming, part of my exhaustion was just due to bad form/technique. I was kicking as if I was being chased by a shark. I reduced my kick to a 2-beat kick which helped immensely. However, I have a weak kick... So I've tried to up it to a 6-beat kick which is starting to feel better. I'll have to see if I'm any faster though. Switching things up and focusing on something new always makes the laps pass by quicker, which is good :)

No, I did not swim. I walked 5+ miles in a homeward direction as an alternate activity. The pool is closed for maintenance until next Sunday. So I hit the bricks (actually a very nice trail) with a brisk stroll and a favorite podcast. Very much looking forward to getting back in the tank next week!

Looking at the results for the open water swimming. The man who won the 2.5km swim only took 55.36.....in the 85-89 year ago group!!!!

And the winner of the 75-79 age group only took 46 minutes. That is beyond exceptional. Amazing!!!!! :astonished:
