I'm 47 and about 5'8" and currently I'm aiming for 175 lbs. I'm coming from a much higher starting point. I was about 425lbs when I started this process.

When I get to 175, I'll re-evaluate. I am certain there'll be some amount of loose flappy skin I'll have to have removed. Maybe at that point I'll want to aim for 150.

FWIW I picked 175 because it's a round number. I haven't weighed that since I was in high school. In my 20s I went up to the high 200's then down to 185, before climbing back up, and up, and up.

Same here 450+ now down to almost 190, I know I'll have to get skin removed OR just learn to love it :) You can see from my progress pics I've posted that I have quite a bit of loose skin, it upsets me now only because I know if it was gone I'd look so much slimmer but it also motivates me and reminds me of where I've come from!

GW- ? Im also a 5'8" female, a bit older 52. On MFP I set my GW at 165, but I'm waiting to decide when I get closer. See how that weight looks and feels on me. I'm exercising regularly so I am more ten than I've been in years.

I dropped half a pound this week, definitely slowing down with weight loss, but it's only been a month, trying to stay patient and positive.

@PaulaJSchiller sounds like a good goal, I think I'll aim for 160 though that sounds like a fantasy lol. Hang in there & keep at it! Don't fret about the pounds, I bet you are shrinking anyway because of exercise.

    GW ???

lol I have no idea how much I'm supposed to weigh. I've always been overweight! I was probably 260 at my heaviest in 2003 before I started Atkins & lost 60 lbs. I lost another 20 a few years ago & got down to 180 but then it crept back up and here I am. I'm determined this time is it. I have a slender frame. Websites say I should weigh between 147-165. We'll see, I guess!

What are you other 5' 8" Gen X ladies aiming for?

Well, I'm 5'7.3". ;) My goal range (now in maintenance) is 128-133. (I spent most of my adult life yoyoing from 139 to 161.) However, I have a small bone structure and not much muscle so I look better at lower weights. Body fat percent is still around 27-28% even now at goal range (I'm planning to start a recomp--eat at maintenance while strength training--after my race on May 13 to try to gradually lose a bit more fat and gain a bit more muscle).

147-165 sounds like a reasonable range based on your stats. If I were you, I'd maybe aim for 165-170 and then re-evaluate. I had worked to get back to 139 and then re-evaluated and still had more body fat (especially in the belly) than I wanted so I decided to go lower.

I'm now at my lowest weight since I graduated college 19 years ago! I have noticed that I stall about every 3-4 weeks then bounce 2-3 pounds for 3 weeks. I just finished a 3 week stall at 247 and whooshed 3.5lbs off this week.

    update 5/3: 242.2lbs
