W6d3 take 3 today.
I'll be honest-I'm still waiting for that magical feeling of being hooked on running. Right now it's just my best way to avoid my sister and dad's t2 diabetes and my mom's peripheral artery disease. And a whole lot of "should" feelings because I really want my kids to learn better habits than I did at their age. I know that I need to learn to enjoy it in order to stick with it.
Me too! Cycling is my first love, but running is weight-bearing so I'm switching back and forth between the two, and hoping I'll get to that zen state when I'm running like I do on a long ride I wish I had been as conscious of setting a good activity example for my kids when they were younger - you go!2 -
Completed week 1 yesterday. I don't really like running and don't think I'll ever be a real runner but I think that once I get to the end I'll be ok doing the 30 mins 3 times a week. I'd be very happy and satisfied to be able to do that.2

I get it Mooma- this is my third round of C25K and it hasn't clicked yet.
I like the confidence boost I get from running, but it's not something that comes naturally!
I just did Week 4 Day2. Felt good physically, but went outside of where I usually jog. Got a bit anxious, but tried to keep my head up.
Anyone else get intimidated by serious runners when you meet on the road?!?0 -
@mmecraine & @Mooma29 i started enjoying running after i finished c25k and i stopped feeling so exhausted every time i ran.In the beginning it was kind of a chore, cause i was struggling throughout. Now, i enjoy it most of the times- though not always. Never in my life did i think i could be a runner.
In the beginning i felt very self conscious and i thought that everyone was looking at me,silently judging me. Not just other runners,but people in general. I just kept telling myself that i'm at least trying to do it,which is more than what some other people do..Eventually i got over it.Now when i meet other runners and we nod to each other, i'm thinking "i'm one of you".And when i see someone that might be on the heavier side, with a red face and all, i'm thinking "good for you!" .We're all serious runners, we spend precious time from our life running when we could be doing other things (like sleeping-oh how i miss lazy mornings).5 -
@jennypapage Did day one of week one again yesterday decided to do it twice as I'm not ready to move on. I do it as part of a 3 mile walk I do every day. So on c25k days I walk the first half a mile. Do the programme then walk the rest of my route, which is about another mile. I guess as I progress the remainder of my walk will shorten if you see what I mean? I don't mind doing it, just can't ever see myself getting fired up about it though2

@Mooma29 well you might feel differently about it, or you might not.It's still a bit early if you ask me,give it some time.
There are days when i wake up and think to myself "i don't want to do this today".But i get dressed and go out and do it, and then i come home and think "that was fun!". It's so funny how my mentality has changed since i started c25k. It wasn't that long ago that i was going out the door dreading those 5' runs ,then came home telling my boyfriend how hard it was and how i couldn't imagine that people did this for fun.
And now, i come home telling him how i run 16.5kms, and it was fun and that i will just increase my distance to 20kms and then stop. (i also said that after i reached the 5k,10k and 15k distance. I'll definitely stop at 20 though!)4 -

I woke up this morning knowing that I wouldn't be going out to jog, but a tiny part of me still wanted to!

@jennypapage Noo - you can't stop at 20, HM = 21.1km you are there, go get it.2 -

W2D1 Still on the treadmill but thinking I might try outdoors next time - I'm in the self-conscious group too. @jennypapage I agree with you on the judging - I'm giving a mental thumbs up to anyone who's out there making an effort, so why wouldn't other people be doing the same for me?

Yeah, I get it. However, it is so important (especially in the early stages of running) to take a day off for your body to recover. When I did the program last year, I stuck with the schedule for the 1st 4 weeks, then I started running every other day instead of 3 days a week. Now I'm running 5 days a week and feel good... it just takes some time for your body to adjust to the regimen.2 -
Starting at W1D1 all over again. Feeling good. No more pain!3

I completed C25K, ran a couple of times, and then my parents came for a visit. Now, I haven't ran in two weeks! I'm really kicking myself for it because my 5K Glow Run is tonight.0

That only posted half of my post! Grrrr...
My goal for the race is to just run the whole thing, and hopefully come in around 35 minutes. I'll probably be okay with under 40 at this point because I'm doing it with my son, and his endurance isn't where it should be. He did the last C25K with me, but had a hard time with it. I think it was because he was home alone and sneaking food during school. Now it's summer break and we are BOTH back on our diets where I can monitor him.
We are going to start the C25K over again to work on my speed and his endurance, either Sunday or Monday.2 -
Completion of Week 1 today. I've been so scattered this week with exercise and everything else. I'm using the Zombies, Run! 5K app. Looking forward to eventually completing the program and running a full 5K at some point in the future. My target is Illuminating the Darkness run later this year to support suicide prevention2

We did it! Completed our 5K in UNDER 35 minutes!! Ran the entire time! Kinda feel like Wonder Woman at the moment. Lol
Definitely gonna start running more. Now we BOTH know that we can do it.6 -
I re-re-re-did w6d3 Tuesday (with my 5 year old because I woke up late) and did w7d1 today. My husband is doing Zombies, run! but we haven't run together yet, lol.
I'm finding it weird to be one of the "old timers" on this thread. I feel like I should try to be inspiring or something.3 -

Just starting C25K today. Feel pretty good about it. I have never been the type to even THINK about running, so to take this step is huge for me!! I have been walking about 6 miles a day for a few months and wanted to push myself. I did a challenge on Memorial Day with some friends. 100k for the day. I tapped out at 56k, which was almost the length of a marathon (23 miles) which I didn't realize at the time. Figured if I could do that it was time to step it up, so here I am!5

W2d2 done yesterday. It was ok!! I moved a bit further along my 3mile route before I started to a more level section which (obviously) made it a bit easier3

W7d3 today! I listened to a podcast instead of music and found it easier to zone out.1

W1D2 completed and other than the burn in my calves I thought it went well. Though I'm sure some amount of burn is expected.4

W2d3 done this morning. I did week 1 twice. It worked well for me. Not sure whether to repeat this one. Or move on. Ahh well sure I will have decided by Monday runday3

I'm starting week 8 this morning. The big question-make the 11 year old to come with me, or not? There will be fewer stops to find pill bugs but more complaining than when the 5 year old comes with me.1
