Hey ladies! This is my first time posting, and I'm feeling a bit discouraged, so I thought joining this group might help! Growing up, I was always pretty big and then when I moved out during college, I started to cook for myself and joined a gym and have since worked really hard to maintain my 80# weight loss. Pregnancy has been a struggle, dealing with how my body feels and looks different and for the very first time in my life, being told that I need to gain weight.

    Height: 5'4''
    Age: 30
    First Pregnancy
    Starting Weight: 150
    Goal to Gain: 15#

    Week 8: 150.9 (+0.9)
    Week 9: 149.4 (-0.6)
    Week 10: 151.0 (+1.0)
    Week 11: 149.3 (-0.7)
    Week 12: 150.5 (+0.5)
    Week 13: 151.8 (+1.8)
    Week 14: 151.0 (+1.0)
    Week 15: 150.6 (+0.6)
    Week 16: 153.1 (+3.1)
    Week 17: 153.9 (+3.9)
    Week 18: 154.3 (+4.3)

Did your doctor tell you to gain 15 or is your personal goal 15? We are the same height and about the same starting weight. 15 just seems low for our height and weight for a whole baby!

You're doing awesome! I'm 28 weeks along too and up 13 pounds. Like you, I'm really struggling with the mental aspect of gaining weight (the weight itself seems to be piling on despite my best efforts!). Remember that we're doing it so we can have healthy, happy, chubby babies and that it's temporary. Besides, having lost weight before, we both will know how to do it again if need be!

I started out about 8# overweight for my height and about 10 pounds heavier than I like to be, so I believe the "recommended" weight gain is 15-25#; however, I really wanted to keep it to the lower end of the range.

Gotcha! I have a large frame so my doctor specifically told me 25-30 to ensure I eat enough. I brought up that technically I am overweight and she said anything less is too little for me personally.

    Week 19: 119.5 (+4.5)
    Week 20: 120 (+5)
    Week 21: 121 ( +6)
    Week 22: 123.5 (+8.5)
    Week 23: 124.5 (+9.5)
    Week 24: 124.5 (+9.5)
    Week 25: 125.5 (+10.5)
    Week 26: 126.5 (+11.5)
    Week 27: 126.5 (+11.5)
    Week 28: 128 (+13)
    Week 29: 128.5(+13.5, cumulative)

Nothing much to report. Husband and I have secured a two-bedroom apartment that we will move into in mid-July, so I'll be able to begin nesting then.

Feeling super puffy the past few days. Rings not fitting well. :( Average calories/day was 1665 so I didn't go crazy eating!
Drinking at least a gallon of water per day, so I'm not sure there's much I can do. Will check BP at a pharmacy later today just in case!

I have a feeling baby will be here soon. My other 2 came during the 36th and 37th weeks, respectively.

It seems like alot of women puff up when they get close, I wonder what the science is behind that, probably hormones changing or something.

Almost there!!! Hang in there <3

I think it's the oxytocin (?), which is the hormone that causes contractions. It also causes water retention.

Thanks, ladies. I've definitely been having some contractions! Irregular, but still. Told OB last week and she didn't seem concerned. Have to go once a week now for baby to be monitored because of my age.

Really hoping this baby stays put for a bit longer! Don't feel mentally ready... This is my 3rd though so I know the drill.

Scale was back down 1.5 lbs this morning, despite pizza yesterday. Lol. Very random.

Katie - how are you doing? Any signs of labor?

Not too many signs... the baby has dropped, but apparently that happens earlier with first pregnancies. Yesterday on my walk, I had a little tailbone pain which was new. And is a sign of... relaxin? lol. A few Braxton Hicks here and there but not everyday. I think it'll still be a week or two... if not longer.

    Height: 5'4
    Age: 31, first pregnancy
    Goal to Gain: 25-30
    SW: 153.8

    Week 14: 152.2 (-1.6)

    Week 18: 158.4 (2/4.6)
    Week 19: 158.0 (-.4/4.2)

I'm okay with some evening out especially since my appetite seems to have regulated. This week seems to be the same, so I'll go with the ebbs and flows in hunger (and weight gain)! Just need to keep making as good food choices as I can!

I have a quick question when did your pants get tighter during your first pregnancy? Some days I have bloat and it becomes tighter but 5 out of 7 days my pants are still loose on me and I'm 20 weeks.

@wantoldme I think around 16 weeks. It was extremely sudden. In the morning I was fine, and by the afternoon I was calling my mom to bring me bigger pants! And I never went back to being able to close my pants... My sister said ~25 weeks for herself. Very different from me.

@VeryKatie thanks. I'm being paranoid because of previous miscarriage. Plus my mother in law is saying I'm not showing but my mom keeps reminding me that it's my first baby and girls in our family don't start showing until later on. Once I get my ultrasound then I'll be relieved.
