I’m not sure what your goal is? If your goal is to is to lose weight and gain/maintain muscle you should expect slow results as muscle is way heavier than fat. If you don’t want to lose muscle your protein target is important but there are other things to consider.
Of course, we are all experiments of one, and what works for me might not work for you. I’ve lost close to 40 pounds in 15 weeks and only lost 1.4 pounds of muscle mass. I’ve done that by staying pretty close to all of my macros and not trying to tweak any of them to tailor my results. I’ve also found that two meals a day in a 6-8 eating window works for me.
I’ve done OMADs on occasion but the 23 hour fasting is too extreme for me. Heck I get out of control even eating twice a day (last week I gained 2 pounds). I do exercise daily and I think that helps me maintain muscle. On the other hand, it makes me hungry and I know I couldn’t sustain eating only once daily and fasting that long.
I also want keto to become a lifestyle instead of just a process to reach a goal. Eating once a day seems extreme to me and I am certain I couldn’t do it for long. For me it is going to be slow and steady. Hopefully, for the rest of my life because I eating fat.

@eggfooyamyam I prefer the "HOLY COW!" part. Can you really be a party pooper when you can liberally eat chicken wings, cheese and bacon?2

Last night it just accured to me that I might be focusing on the wrong thing....
When you tract your macros, do you just focus on the % between carbs/fat/protein, or do you actually try to reach the suggested grams per c/f/p? Technically if you are hitting the grams on all of them then you are hitting the % too, but I usually just typically focus on the % over all of them, not going over 15g in carbs, and getting close to my target of about 1200 calories. But that doesn't always mean I am hitting the suggested grams target in fat and protein, although I do try not to go over the suggested amount, but I rarely get to that point because my calorie target kind of keeps that from getting too high.
I've done it both ways and am able to track grams better than percentages. Not sure I've lost more weight this way but for my sanity, it was easier for me Protein= goal, Fat = lever, Carb = limit!3 -

I was actually shocked the number wasn't higher today. We went out for date night and I had a big dinner, so I thought I would wait a little late today to step on the scale, but then I ended up eating breakfast and a high calorie lunch. Also yesterday I did a total of 36g of carbs. I don't think that's too bad since I tried to keep my lunch yesterday as low as possible knowing we were going out to eat. But I'm ok with that, and especially because it was high because of sweet potatoes, at least it wasn't from other things.
My wins though mean more than my number. I did weigh 129.8 yesterday which I knew I wouldn't see for the weigh in today but it was good to see it say the 20's again. I also had one of those mirror moments, before even stepping on the scale, where I was getting ready and I looked at myself in the full mirror and felt like I could see my results. I felt like I could see my stomach had flattened down some, and I know it did because it gave me the confidence to try on my skinny jeans, one of the ones that I have saved even though I had done lapped over the top. Well I didn't lap over them and I felt so good in them that I wore them on my date night. That has made me do the happy dance.4 -

Mr Nikki is still doing well. He told me yesterday he struggles with not eating a huge plate of carby food. We grew up eating a plate of rice & beans, and lots of root veggies at almost every meal. He doesn't love veggies so it's hard to replace the carbs he's used to eating.

Well I seem to have hit a wall this week. I haven't been able to get much exercise lately. Hopefully now that the weather is gong to be warmer here i can get outside and walk. I've been cooped up too long. Gained back pretty much everything I had worked so hard to lose this month. Drat! It's got to be just water because I'm always deficit on calories every day. (Sigh)

Thumbs up Miss @NikkiJRM. Your progress to me exemplifies the most important traits one must have to succeed in weight loss: patience, perseverance. And when after a long while if neither of those are providing success and one has been totally honest with themselves about their intake (as I perceive you have been)...tweak it. Kudos to you!3

When I posted my weight yesterday I meant to talk about my results from the changes I made last week. So even though the scale said 130.8 @ 25.3% BF yesterday, Saturday and this morning it says 129.8 @ 25% BF(for a little reference, I'm 5'2" tall). I had a really big dinner Saturday, and I don't think my body had processed it all yet. And I kind of figured that when I weighed myself yesterday. Although Sunday's I think I always weigh more, from eating more on Saturday evenings and I always make a decent size breakfast Sunday mornings. I almost always weigh less Saturday and Monday mornings, oh well.
After the last weigh in last week I had decided to lower my carb total from 30g to 15g. I went to 18g a couple of days, but as long as I was under 20g I was happy, which I did stay under. I also cut down on cheese, I was eating so much cheese because I knew it was a way to get the fat up with low carbs, and I love cheese so I basically put it on everything and ate it a lot of the time as is as a snack or premeal app.
This week I did feel a lot better, I didn't feel as bloated, and as I said in my post yesterday I was able to wear some jeans I haven't been able to wear for awhile, even before I got pregnant, and didn't have the spare tire at the top after buttoning. So I'm going to keep this up for another week and see how it goes.
I know I'm not going to reach my goal of a total of 8lbs loss by next week, but I'm happy with my outcome this month regardless, I have learned a lot and have confidence I will reach my goal in no time if I keep it up.5 -
@NikkiJRM Your progress pics are so inspiring!! Your journey, knowledge, and natural leadership has been very important to me so far. Truly, Thank you!0

well I knew it would happen! Just gotten back home from Croatia which was great as we see our friends every year and they were astonished at the weight I had lost since they last saw me. That was wonderful I have to say HOWEVER I dropped my guard last day and ate amazing Croatian savoury pastries many many of them! Arrived home and I was wait for it: 6.6 pounds heavier! The good thing is I knew it was water weight and didn't jump out of a window! This morning I am 155.6 which is still up but I was saint like yesterday and mean to continue to be so until I get down again.
So also I see many happy people which is great, I think this group is amazing and can you believe we are heading to the end of April! Next Sunday is the last weigh in so lets all make a last push! Now when I say the last weigh in I just mean for April. I'm just about to post the May Challenge so there is no getting away from this group!
@NikkiJRM I have to add my 2 pence worth, amazing!!
All I personally need now is a group that helps me look 20 (30?) years younger than I am. Well to be honest, I couldn't be bothered, I'm happy to be retired, have grand children and the old face goes with that! Not that I think that I ever looked as very beautiful as you do!

Sunday 04/22 - 253.0 - down 2 lbs! Yay!

I tried IF last week, but I really don't think it's for me. Maybe it was working though, because all month long I've lost very little, then boom, 2 lbs in a week! So, I dunno. I'll try a 'regular' week and then switch back to IF and see if it really was the IF or not.1 -

Thank you so much!!
I'm not sure I've shared before about that before picture. Short version, what should have ended as an amazing day ended up as a wake up call. In the end it worked out though.
Does anyone else have a definite wake up call moment? How about some before and after pics???? We all love those! If you're not taking them regularly I encourage it. I'm grateful to those who urged me to take them. Measurements too!2 -

Left photo is my highest at 202. I knew I had gained a lot of weight, but I didn't realize how big I was. That was December 2015. It was a shock. I lost about 30 lbs in 4 months doing a commercial diet (not keto), but then yo-yo'd between 175 and 185 since then.
Right photo is I think 10 days keto, but I have lost another 5 lbs since then. Maybe at the end of May I'll do another for comparison. I'm only 21 lbs from my goal weight of 140 (that's flexible though, since I have never been 140 and might be too low). Anyway, I feel like I'm on the right track and make slow but steady progress.

@d_dc_lady You look great! I'd post a photo but I stay very firmly the other side of the camera!1

Does anyone else have a definite wake up call moment?
I’ve been fighting weight for 40 of the last 68 years of my life. If anyone were to look at my past dieting efforts, I’m sure I would be nominated for best yo-yo dieter for the last 4 decades. I’ve been as high as 210 lbs. and as low as 148 lbs. over that time-period. Also, I have never been on a weight-loss diet longer than 4 months.
Currently I’m on day 107 of my keto journey. That puts me 2 days into my 16th week (4 months). I feel confident that I will continue well past 4 months this time for 3 main reasons:
1. I’m not hungry
2. I the food I’m eating
3. I the support this group gives me
With all that going for me, I plan on making it this time one month at a time. In addition, I’m not just chasing a goal this time. I plan on eating this way forever and seeing where it naturally takes me.
Bring on May

Still have a long way to go but I took a pic the other day (in red) and compared it to a pic a couple months ago. Definitely gave me the will to push forward!

I have a couple of 'before' pics, but I still don't look any different
And I do my measurements on the last day of each month, so I'm going to wait to weigh myself til then too (it's a Monday) for our challenge.
Still, I'm pretty happy with how much I've learned and grown (or shrunk!) this month and look forward to another week left to push for that little bit more. May is definitely going to be better as far as activity goes for me. As long as I can get me some good walking shoes.
