Today's swim was short - 20 minutes - but I did some sprints. Also swam on Monday, 35 minutes.

I need to get back into doing more than just going back and forth. Need to be more intentional with the workout.

1000m today - less shoulder work

medley of breaststroke, glide work, back stroke and leg kick.

AM definitely getting faster on leg kick, and gliding, I can get down one length (25m) with 8 arm pulls front crawl and keep good position during kicking/gliding/breathing. Felt good! :D

then went and sat in the jacuzzi for 20 mins to help my shoulder hehe

1000m - am totally shattered today, BodyPump has a lot to answer for!

    250m front crawl
    250m breathing drills to 13
    150m legs only
    100m arms only

    250m underwater drills
I swan 25m underwater, then swam the 25m back to top recovering breath. 5 breathes at top and then back down underwater....repeat. Felt good - but I think I may have weirded other pool users out a bit :D

I conquered the swim stage of a half Ironman length Aquabike this weekend - 1.2 miles in 50 minutes! Aquabike went out first, and so every few minutes a new wave of triathlon swimmers would overtake me. Only had to stop to hack up water a handful of times and didn’t panic getting swum over. Wore my full sleeve wetsuit which I think helped me go faster (yay floating butt) but it also was quite uncomfortable for the first 500 yards or so. If/when I lose weight I’m going to check out other brands and see if I can’t find something that doesn’t induce panic.

Now that I know I can make the swim cut off (70 minutes) I’ll be signing up for the whole Ironman 70.3 shebang next year. Weeeee!

I’m also contemplating taking a total immersion swim clinic - need to do something drastic to break down and rebuild my form.

    Hallelujah, yes!!!

Finally, after wonky work schedules, travel, mysterious pool closings (involving two different pools in different parts of town) and waiting 30 minutes in the dressing room for a thunderstorm warning, I was back in the water for the first time in 8 months today!!

50 laps (4 short of 1.5 miles) in 70 minutes. And I'm determined to go back tomorrow!

    1600m

a bitty and slow medley of different things with a lot of breaks.
Was not feeling it this morning, but I was only going to do 1km, so doing the extra bit to the mile felt good :)

Forgot to post my last two swims. Not that they were anything amazing of special, but I did it :-P

Sunday I did a mile in 50 minutes. Not a nonstop mile, but still. I was happy.
Tuesday I did 35 minutes, working on more endurance, so swimming more lengths before a break.

I am doing something odd with my breathing. When I breathe on my right, my body roll is great and my head just goes with it. But when I breathe on my left, it's like my head is detached. I roll my body, but then I end up turning and almost picking up my head. It's weird. So I'm spending a lot of time trying to straighten that out. Lots and lots of lengths with the pull buoy.

    Back in the water tomorrow!

Have not been neglecting much -- except getting in the tank. My local (private) pool gets all crowded with children swim lessons and diving lessons and I have learned that I just hate it so much that I can't get in. Now that swim team and most of the lessons are done, I'm looking forward to getting back in. I really miss it. I am biking to work (12 plus miles each way) pretty much every day but I have learned (not being in the pool since May, and not in the water since ... May) I will be paying the price very soon. And looking forward to it.

    1600m

    750m front crawl
    250 breathing drills to 13
    200m legs only
    50m arms only
    350m relaxed

this time I forced myself to stop at a mile and not push to 2km due to shoulder niggle. Less happy lol

Summer lessons really muck up lap swimming... But-this year, my youngest is an instructor and making money from it, so yay for that!!

Shorter swims lately. Mike and a half today. My longest swim in weeks. I have bumped up my attendance at the water x class, so there’s no slacking off here. Two weeks from Sunday is out Mt St Helens ascent. Hoping we can summit. I’ve been upping my training for it since January.

Did I know you're a fellow west coaster? Regardless, have an amazing time on the ascent.
