@LesIckaBod --when we are documenting calories as a "no" that means we went over correct?
Saw my orthopedic surgeon. He has set me up for physical therapy. I plan on trying to walk today and stay close to home in case my pain flares up. I have at least been able to maintain during the challenge this past week but I have got to start seeing a loss.1 -

Not surprised that I am up 0.5 pounds
since it is exactly 1 week since my Dad had a serious health episode
as well as I had 3 Thanksgiving meals on the long weekend (Saturday dinner at my aunt's church, Sunday dinner at my mother-in-law's house, Monday lunch at my godmother's house).
I was just thankful that I didn't have to cook a Thanksgiving meal and that I had 3 meals that other people cooked for me after spending 7 and a half hours at the ER on Wednesday for my dad and 6 hours at the hospital on Friday for more tests for my dad.
As much as I hate being up, I am only up a total of 0.8 pounds from my lowest weight in this challenge which was on September 26th
and I am still down 25.2 pounds total over the course of the last couple of years from my highest weight.
I will continue to try my best under the current circumstances
but I know October will be more of a challenge for me with my dad's ongoing health concern that may be serious but won't know until the next test is done as well as trying to figure out what to do about the 75th birthday party I have been planning for him for 7 months which will be 4 days after the test which will determine whether or not I have to cancel the big party.

@eevang Rough news, indeed. But, maybe this means you've unlocked a new level? We all know weight loss and exercise makes us better able to deal with illness and whatever stresses life throws at us. You've done incredibly at making yourself more healthy and fit, and so it's only fitting that you have a sickness challenge to have to work through. (I'm trying to find a way to look on the bright side here - did I succeed, or is this analogy hopelessly botched?)
Take care! I know that even if you lose some muscle tone while you wait out Boss Mono, you'll be back to kick A and take names!1 -

Haha I like the analogy. I might've double checked with my primary care doctor (the specialist said no elliptical for a month), and he said he will review the specialist notes and get back to me about the elliptical. I think it's gonna be a "no" but if begging shortens the time frame or something...I had to try. Asking Dad cause Mom said "no", you know the drill.
This will force me to cut back on sugar. I love dessert and allow myself to eat back some exercise calories. This will be a good challenge to eat even healthier than I have been...like at the beginning of this journey. I think I'm just a bit bummed that this might feel like "work" again. Having that extra 300 calories burned per day gave me some wiggle room with my diet and made it seem fairly effortless.1 -

Well today I chose to have a quiet house day instead of going out. I had no TV on yesterday at all and none today and the children are being so active and playing well together. I want to set good habits for them. Just about to do Leslie sansone walking YouTube, I need to find something a little more challenging now as it is too easy for me. Any ideas?1

So, it doesn't have to be weight loss related at all, but What are you grateful for today? Bonus points if you post a picture to share with us! (Use the little picture icon to add the pic)
Been down these past few days. Haven't really ate anything due to being down (i tried to complete diary at 981 calories and got yelled at by MFP). Just not hungry.
Been down about a guy.. started off strong.. but now it's just the one word responses.. the ones you know where the interest has died off... I always have to make the effort to talk to him etc.... sigh. I'm 31.. I'm not getting any younger.
However, I am thankful because I moved to my current city/state strictly for the purpose of nursing school and then moving back home to my home state 1500 miles away.. He would have never moved... so I'm grateful that no matter what or how much it sucks now, it would have sucked a lot more later. Also, I no longer have the distraction from my school. I'm also about bettering myself... and he was happy living at home with parents (at 32) with an $11/HR paying job when he could apply himself and become a paramedic instead of a EMT. Maybe that's petty... but oh well.
I am also grateful for my new job at the hospital dispatching medical helicopters. I have been a 911 dispatcher for the past 10 years. It was something I never wanted to do, however the money was a lot better. I'm grateful for my strength that has pushed me to stop being unhappy and go back to school and go to nursing school so one day I can be a flight nurse instead of just dispatching them. My hospital also pays up to $4,000 a year for school.
I'm also grateful that the "diet" I have chosen has been working consistently without fail ever since I started July 18th. There hasn't been a week I didn't lose. Some I lost a lot more lbs then others but it's always been a loss. This past week I needed a little bit of cheer in my life and I had a great weigh in.
Sorry it was such a long post!2 -

@12Sarah2015
Thanks for praying. I appreciate your prayers for myself and my dad.
I also have done some Leslie Sansone workouts.
When I was looking for something different or more or less challenging I just typed what I was looking for (e.g., HIIT Workout for beginners) into google and then clicked on videos and many workout videos came up and I watched some and chose some to do.2 -

@Lolmamawoz That's right -- "calories no" means that you didn't meet your calorie goal for the day. I hope the physical therapy helps you get to feeling better. It's the calorie deficit that really matters for weight loss, so exercise isn't mandatory for that, but it definitely helps a person feel better physically, and those exercise endorphins help, too! I hope you're able to get back to your walking and exercise goals soon!0 -

@inshapeCK You've maintained through a difficult time, and that's something to be proud of. You've got a good foundation here. You can keep it solid, and keep building on it. And if your dad is anything like mine, seeing you taking care of yourself and losing weight, getting healthier, will make him feel better, too.
Best wishes to you and your family.1 -

@edising Yourself is the most important person to be honest with! Is there anything going on that's making it more difficult to meet those daily goals? (I ask, of course knowing that I'm in a rut right now myself with tracking and calories - grrr)0 -

@Rocknut53 I saw this article recently, and your post made me think about it: https://nytimes.com/2018/09/03/well/live/preventing-muscle-loss-among-the-elderly.html
Key point I took away: even if you're an active person who's using muscles a lot for things like hiking, walking, swimming, you still need to have strength training as part of the routine.
I'm trying to think of exercise and losing weight as part of working on my retirement plan. Investing in me, and all that.1 -

Oh, @wishfulthinning18 - sending you a big hug through MFP!!
You're driven, and you're working on your goals, and you're making progress on them. You're worthy and deserving of the good things that come from working on these goals.
I'm sorry this guy has you feeling down. I understand the feelings. It sounds like you're processing them ok, finding the positive rational side of moving on/ breaking up, but I can see the emotional side is still there.
I am so glad for you that you're still working on your goals, and taking care of yourself, in your career and your education and your weight loss. You can feel grateful, and proud, of what you're accomplishing.
Keep moving - you got it!
