Hi again everyone! Welcome to all of our newcomers. My name is Melinda and I am acting team captain right now. I have been active on mfp since mid-Jan of 2018 and this is my 12th round on the Biggest Loser Challenge. I started at a whopping 315lbs. after quitting an active job, having surgery, starting my own business, and being on very high doses of steroids. I am now down to 233lbs. which is almost where I spent the majority of my adult life. My diary is open for anyone's viewing pleasure and I am willing to help out in any way that I am able. As far as personal life/hobbies: I am married to my high school sweetie for 20 years, no kids, 2 cats. I own a carpet, tile, grout cleaning business which keeps me pretty active and I am nightshift 911. My husband and I build arcade cabinets and program emulators (think old-school Pac-Man), we like Cons, and pretty much anything fantasy or sci-fi. GO TEAM FLAB-U-LESS!!2

Hello. I have been on the app since 2011 but have struggled with ups and downs.
I am now at my heaviest and am hoping the motivation of teamwork will help jump start me and keep me on track.
I look forward to the completing the August challenge with the Flab-U-Less team

Hi Team Call me countycreek. I am a new member of the BLM challenge in August. I have been on and off My Fitness Pal for awhile. Looking for the accountability to make some much needed changes!6
-
Hi team. I am 34, been struggling with my weight all of my adult life. I am a homeschooling mom of 4, a Support Representative for a curriculum company, a director of a tutor service, and my husband and I own our own contracting business. Like everyone else, I am very busy, don’t get enough sleep, and neglect my health.
I really need to find a way to stay focused on my health goals WHILE life zooms around me.5 -
@Katchoi @countrycreek @Raven9145 Welcome all! This is the place for accountability and life changes! Just 4 more days until the August challenge starts!2

Thank you @mram3582!0

Good morning all! This is my ninth month doing the Biggest Loser Challenge - wow - has it really been THAT long?? I haven't done the daily posts in a few months, the warmer weather has me outside working in the yard, riding my bike, etc. but I really like the accountability of the weekly weigh-ins. That's key for me. Welcome to all of the newbies and hello again to those who are coming back for more.3

Mornin' everbody, I have been a long term user of MFP.. This will be my second month with the Flab U Less group. I am married and all my kids have 4 paws. I have struggled getting down to a healthy weight and reaching Onederland is the first step... Hoping to start August there... I am within seeing distance. Long Term Goal to be at 145 pounds but that is too far away right now to even think that number. 199.9 is the first thought and then 185.8 which would be bring me down to just being "overweight" Not "obese". I hope to be able to do a 5 K by the end of the year.

Hi! This will be my 3rd month in this challenge. I've been losing 5 lbs a month. I know it's not a huge number, but after several months those numbers will add up!! I do find myself exercising more and making better choices when it comes to portion control. Don't get me wrong, some days are more of a struggle than others, but posting daily helps me stay more aware of the choices I make. Being part of this group really has been a good thing for me. I hope everyone has a great month....Go team Flab U Less!!!5

Hi again everyone! So....Sunday, July 28th., officially kicks off our Aug. Challenge! This challenge runs from July 28th to Aug. 31st. So the 1st weigh ins will be those people that chose Sunday as their weigh day. Sorry for the confusion, it keeps things equal.
We are also going to be running (Optional) Mini-challenges again this month: Question of the Week and Daily Posts
First and foremost is that participation in these challenges is optional. It's up to you as to whether you want to try this. If you don't want to participate in these challenges, you don't have to, the choice is yours, but I would like to encourage you to participate as it seems to help keep us on track and thinking about our goals on a daily basis and it's encouraging to see other's successes and struggles so that we realize that we are not alone!!
The Daily Posts Challenge is based on another challenge on MFP called UAC (Ultimate Accountability Challenge). The way UAC works is that the aim is to follow 5 basic rules.
#1. Track EVERYTHING you eat that has calories.
#2. Stay inside your allocated daily budget.
#3. Try to do at least 20 minutes of activity a day (anything: walk, run, cycle, swim, gardening, housework, yoga, gym, etc.. As long as it gets you active and off the couch)
#4. 1 pass day permitted per week (went over calories, could not track, not enough exercise, intentional pass)
#5. Check in daily (tracking yes/no, calories yes/no, exercise yes/no).
****End of the week. those who have managed to keep to plan for 6 out of 7 days are recognized in the thread as being part of the weekly "Winners Circle".
A side note as there has been a bit of confusion for new members in the past, this is not the same as the official results, which are weight based, this is just another tool to help you reach your weight loss goals.
**REMEMBER**
You set your own daily budget.
You choose you own exercise and intensity (no step limit, no exercises you cannot or should not do, 20 mins of gardening counts as much as a 10 mile run, activity is activity, anything that gets you up and moving!).
Is not weight based (as weight fluctuates day by day).
Can continue beyond weight loss.
Daily check in keeps you in touch with those doing similar. Longer term weight management is hard to do on your own.
It also has frequent resets (as in a circle each week).
It works on an honor system. Being honest with yourself and others is a key to making things work. Remember, this is a judgement free zone, everyone has good days and bad days, but the way to get to the finish line is by being honest and when we have a bad day, picking ourselves up and carrying on the next day!
Consistency and new habits have been shown the only long term successful way to change weight. We all want the progress made here to last a lifetime.
Your posts should look like this:
Daily Post (Sunday/Date)
Track: Yes/no
Calories: Yes/no (were you under)
Exercise: Yes/no (what type and how long)
Goals/Day/Comments: (Tell us a brief description about your how your day went or your goals for the day)
The Question of the Week Challenge is a fun participation booster and we will be using it sometimes just as fun and sometimes it can help to foster new ideas for others as we all are different and have different experiences so sharing ideas can help someone else with motivation of freshening up their routine even!! Keep on the lookout for these questions.[/color]
Please post your weight on your scheduled weigh in day, as if you miss weigh-ins, you may be eliminated from the challenge and we don't want to see that happen!!
Your posts should look like this:
Username:
Week: November Week 1
PW =(previous weight)
CW=(current weight)
Just type PW & CW if you'd like (or if it's easier, you could keep a note on your PC desktop to make it easier to copy and paste from week to week.)
Please, please setup your posts in that format as it really makes it much easier for me to track your progress for the challenges and the weight loss!!
I'd like to help us be as successful as possible and if I can help in any way, please let me know. Also, if you have any suggestions for the team or fun ideas to spice things up a bit, please feel free to share them, I look for new ways to help engagement and keep people motivated!!
I am committed to this group and to help where I can, and please let me know if I can help in any way!!

Welcome to all newcomers! My name is Mary and I may be the oldest member of the Flab-U-Less team at 75! This is my 9th month in the Biggest Loser Monthly Challenge. My weight loss has been VERY s-l-o-w, but I weigh 7 lbs less than I did last December thanks to this challenge. I lost 120 lbs after gastric bypass surgery 14 years ago and have maintained that loss - a huge accomplishment, I know, but I'm still considered 'obese' and I'd like to get down to 160 to be at a healthy weight for me. I've been on a 3-week plateau, but I've lost 2 inches overall from my swimming this summer. Yay for that! I wish all of our team success this August! Go team Flab-u-Less!1

Hi all and welcome to the newcomers. This is a great group to belong to and can be very motivating and encouraging. I've been a member of the Flab-u-less team for several months now. I'm 59 (soon to be 60 in August), 5'2" and have two adult children. I'm taking meds for a myriad of things but my doctor said, with a reduction in my weight, I may be able to come off of all pills. That's my goal. Let's do this!2

Weigh in day Sunday2 -
Hello All!
I am Lena. I am very excited to be here doing this Challenge with group Flab-U-Less!
3 years ago is when I first gained weight that made me ‘fat.’ I managed to lose this weight (50 pounds) by eating low carb and exercising daily in 6 months. As I have relaxed this regimen the weight has crept back up.
I get it! I need to exercise and eat low carb. Better get used to it.
Last time I did it with the help of an online weight loss group. I think this is very important .......not only for my own success, but for others to feel supported and engaged.
My weakness is not the ‘low carb foods and exercising’ it is staying focus.
Thank you so much for offering this Accountability group. Go Team Flab-U-Less!!!!2 -

@MamboRumba Congratulations on getting ready for the week! I still have a bit more cooking to do before I'm prepared lol And yes, daily posts are a daily thing. It's not a big deal if you forget, but each week they'll post who has posted each day ^_^ I like to think of it as an extra incentive to get on MFP and stay accountable.2

@MamboRumba Really nice choices in that cart-it's gonna make one tasty meal tonight!! The daily post challenge is optional-it just keeps people thinking about weight loss, their goals, and for idea sharing. The only thing that is mandatory it a weekly weigh in. You can actually skip a week if needed or weigh on a different day sometimes. You're only booted from the challenge if you miss 2 consecutive weigh in's without telling Ashley or myself. There are really no prizes other than a kudos and the way you feel after losing weight.
@LenGray @Starshine15 @Katchoi Perfect day you guys! Keep that going!

Welcome to all the new participants! This will be my 8th month with the team.
I've lost 36lbs since I joined. I've been a bit slack (food wise) the last couple of months so my single goal in August is to stick to my calories.
Having said that my focus has been more on exercise and improving my fitness and I've noticed huge changes there.
Good luck all!1
