*sigh*
I have been baking Christmas cookies for the past two days. Just the ones I'm not that crazy about - gingerbread, anything with peanuts or peanut butter, anything with molasses, jello cookies... but eventually I'm going to have to bake the ones I do like. Chocolate pixies, raspberry linzers, almond crescents, cut outs... I'd be willing to skip baking them but you know - family.
I am a bowl scraper and beater licker, I can control that by running everything under water as quickly as possible. I don't know how I am going to survive cookies.5 -
I just checked the spreadsheet, we are having a great Month so far. Great job everyone4

Thank you to everyone that shared their height and goal weights... it really helps me to see if my goals are in the somewhat normal range, looks like they are.
I am trying not to focus on the end game, just 1 (or 1/2) pound at a time. I have about 15 more to go to hit my original goal, this may take me another 6 months or so... I am a slow loser. Not worried about how long it takes, just that I am moving in the right direction. I will re-think my ultimate goal, after I hit 150.
You all are the best, I am so happy to be included in this group!2 -
@looneycatblue, sounds like a great plan! I lose slowly as well. It gets frustrating at times, but like you, I try to keep my eye on the end game.
@Colleen790, nice loss! Congrats!
@GLouis4, wonderful loss!

@shewhoismany. Some suggestions on how to "survive" baking the cookies you love:- Schedule the rest of the meals/snacks for that day to be on the low side of your planned calorie intake.
- Plan to do some extra activity on baking days (if not exercise, then house decorating, cleaning, shopping, etc..)
- Allow yourself to taste, lick, scrape as you usually do and do not regret or feel guilty doing it (as it's part of the fun/experience of cooking).
- Think of how much the family enjoys your efforts of your baking. This time of year, in particular, is about family and doing things for others. (This has the added bonus of lowering stress).
We get enough guilt from outside influences without generating our own. Guilt raises stress which raises cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that, among other things, assists with the creation and storage of fat (primarily around the face and abdomen). No need to give yourself two problems for the price of one.
Even while losing weight, you need to have plans in place to allow you to live a normal, happy, healthy life. The best way to maintain weight is to set habits in place, while reducing, that you can continue effortlessly. This way, the eventual transition from reduction into maintenance is seamless and you are far less likely to bounce back in weight.5 -

Exercised?: Yes (5 km in 39 mins - hills)
Calories?: Yes

Cooler temperatures again today. Managed to just beat 39 mins again today for the 5km. Walked after dinner again.
Personally an off and on day for me. Yet again productive, but at quite a personal push.2 -

PW: 137.4 pounds
CW: 137.7 pounds
Gained 0.3 pounds.
No biggie.
Plus my weight was higher than this in between last week's weigh in and this weigh in but I got it off before my "official" weigh in day. Phew! Too many brownies and Advent calendar chocolates (Reese) and pizza and party snack mix and lack of exercise.2 -
I cannot wait to get home for dinner tonight! I put together a minestrone soup this morning... just cooking away in the slow cooker. I hope it turns out as yummy as my imagine says it will!
What are you dinner plans?2 -
@inshapeCK, you're right. Not a big deal. But step away from those Advent chocolates. LOL! 🍫
@looneycatblue, I love the slower cooker! I'm sure it will be delicious!1 -

What are you dinner plans?
Minestrone soup sounds good. Slow cooker a great low-hassle type meal preparation.
Last nights dinner was roast chicken breast and corned beef. The corned beef was a mistake because of a mislabelling of the packaging.
Wife had gone to an afternoon's doctors appointment. Had to wait 90 minutes to see the doctor, then pick up medication, so was going to be late home. My wife usually cooks dinner.
Instead of cooking picked up a hot roast chicken and bag of what was supposed to contain a hot roast lamb (roast lamb with mint sauce is one of my favourites). Unfortunately the bag was mislabelled and only discovered it had roast corned beef instead of lamb (no where near as nice to my tastes, but too late to get anything else).
Why did I not prepare dinner? I work odd and long hours, mostly online from home. That night I was working right up to 15 minutes before my wife got home. I am also not skilled at cooking, just through lack of experience (also narrow taste preference range, also a highly sensitive palette, especially to texture). I am fortunate that my wife is VERY skilled in cooking (I like her cooking and tell her so at every opportunity). Also I earn enough that my wife does not need to work.
Tonight is planned to be steak.
The weekend has two social events planned round meals (due to festive season). My high protein, low gluten diet severely narrows the choices of catered food, but I can usually find something. Means I can participate in social events, feel good about what I eat, but not blow the calorie budget.1 -

Nice loss, @shewhoismany!
Today is our Gotcha Day for Ollie. I volunteer with Schnauzer Love Rescue to foster Miniature Schnauzers who have been surrendered until they find their forever home. Ollie came to us from a lady who had lost her husband and had to move here to live with her son and his family. Their home was not large enough for her and her four dogs and one cat so she gave him up so he could have a better home. The day we got him he was a little mop of a guy and seriously needed grooming and dental care.
We had him groomed right away, made plans for dental work (had to have many teeth removed), and began to help him adjust to a calmer home life. In a couple of weeks, a lady expressed interest in him and we met her at a park to see if he might be a good fit for their home. They decided they wanted to adopt him and took him home. I was sad but didn't cry for I believed they would be good for him. Well, within 24 hours they called back and let us know that he wouldn't work out for them. To be honest, I wasn't sad she brought him back. LOL!
We then scheduled his dental work and I nursed him back to health and helped him adjust to having fewer teeth in his mouth. During this time I began to really bond with him and my husband and I began to talk about adopting him ourselves. Well, we made it final and he became a permanent part of our family. We've had some great adventures this past year and look forward to many more years with this little pumpkin head. We love him dearly and are so thankful he came into our lives.

@BonnieHosk85 Mini Schnauzers are da bomb! My brother has one (Raven is actually my sinister-in-law's baby girl but my brother thinks she is his) and we had one (Mandy) and then litters as kids. Mandy was the smartest dog I have ever known. Still miss her after all these years.1

@flourchild225, thank you for staying!! This is a tough month to lose. It's hard. We're here for you!!
@MMMonk, I'm so glad you posted! We didn't have a week 1 for you and you would have been rolled off the challenge if you didn't weigh in this week.
@shewhoismany, Ollie's our third Schnauzer. Love the breed! To be honest, I hope we're called to foster a second one soon. We had two while the boys were growing up and I loved it!
@Keepingtrack1234, nice loss! Have a great weekend!

I'm so late posting. I was so embarrassed by my weight gain and then community wasn't working for me and I almost didn't post it but I am here. It's been a rough go this month. Hopefully I can get back on track!3 -
@crystalbarton31, please don't ever be embarrassed or not post because of a gain. We are all in this together and will have our good days to celebrate or our valleys. Also, if you ever cannot post on the thread, please feel free to pm me with your post. Stay with us, girl!!1
