@richmondwriter you are automatically rolled over for the challenge, it's only if you are removed from the challenge when you would have to register for the challenge again
I will post an intro later on1 -
Hello new and returning members of The Big Butt Theory! I am Christine, your captain of the team! Your co-captains are Coral, @Coral333 and Brandi, @brandi_84. Feel free to add us as a friend, reach out to us if you have a question, whatever you need!
As I said, my name is Christine and I live in Connecticut, USA, and have been a member of TBBT since February this year. I Began my WLJ in November of 2018, and have lost over 50 pounds, about 40 or more since joining TBBT. I am 27 years old and have two furry children-a 10 year old golden doodle and a 7 month old "mutt" that's growing quickly! I am a big time football fan, and love watching all the games going on. The Patriots are my team (sorry Patriots-haters!)
I enjoy outdoor activities with my pups(long walks, hiking around the doggy park, lake visits, etc). I do like the occasional alone walk, but being without my babies can get a little lonely! I try to remain as active as I can, but I can honestly say my activity has dropped a bit since I switched jobs at the end of August... I have been falling victim to the laziness of the weekends, for a change!
I am constantly learning new meals to cook for my boyfriend and myself that are healthier, so I am always up for recommendations!
I will post about our step/water/exercise challenge once I have the spreadsheet worked out!
I want to wish all of the members of TBBT a happy and healthy New Year!
What is one major(or minor) goal you are setting for yourself in the new year?6 -
Hi! This is my first time and have been assigned to The Big Butt Theory
I'm 39, from UK and have a BMI of 32.5 so need to do something about it. I love a challenge so looking forward to it!2 -

@losingbecks welcome to TBBT! I started with a BMI of 44, and am happy to be hanging around with a 34.6 BMI. Everyone is very supportive in the group, and had a lot to do with helping me achieve my goals *last* year! I am hoping we bring you the same encouragement and success!4 -

@gboles79 Gina, I am glad you are still with us again for January! I think that December was a harder month for all of us to focus with so many celebrations and events happening all month long! I'm jealous you have a treadmill on the way! I have been contemplating on either a treadmill or elliptical for a while now because my stationary bike isn't enough! I am hoping for a very successful January for you!!!1 -

@mhassan160 Maha, I am glad you are staying on with us this month! You were extremely consistent in the end of December, and I am looking forward to your consistency/dedication this month! With so much on your plate, I am inspired by your dedication to the challenges in the group!1 -
Information on our Step/Water/Food/Exercise Challenge! This month these challenges will run Sunday(Starting January 5) to Saturday,(January 11) to remain in line with the Mini Ultimate Accountabilty Challenge, and our weigh ins!
Food Challenge
Pre-plan your food for four days, stay on that plan for at least 3 days. Must account for all snacks, drinks, meals to consider yourself on plan for that day!
* This challenge may change weekly as it is a new month, and different food challenges may be more beneficial!
Exercise Challenge
Exercise for 30 minutes 3x each week. Must be continuous 30 minutes workout. Includes intentional cardio(running, walking, biking, rowing, etc), strength, yoga/flexibility. Does not include things like house cleaning or yardwork. These minutes count towards your Mini Challenge!
Weekly Step Challenge
This is pretty simple if you track your steps at all(via phone, fitness tracker, pedometer, anything really). Our step challenge is still a new thing for our group! You select your own step goal each week and try to reach it. We have two categories for "winners" for the week- Percentage of goal completed, and highest total steps!
The Water Challenge
This is a challenge to get you to reach 8 cups of water each day! The team all has the same goal. Aim for 8 glasses(64oz) of water per day, or 448oz or week! The winners in this category are determined by the highest percentage of water you drink!
There is currently no link to the spreadsheet, as I am making a new one. It will be available to view by Friday, January, 3!

And this will be my last post for the morning!
My goals for 2020:
1. Walk more with my three "boys", the two dogs and my boyfriend.
2. Strength train 1x a week, and increase over time. I had a terrible year with minimal strength training!
3. Continue exploring new healthy recipes, and trying them! Also, get back to religiously using the food scale!
4. 20lb loss by October 1. Goal: 174lb. If I get there sooner, that's great!
5. Remain active with the group even when things get chaotic!
6. Post mini-Challenge daily for Accountability, instead of posting days at a time!
I probably have more goals, but that's enough for now!6 -

@zaraizzy56 It is wonderful you have joined us here in TBBT, Karla! I don't know what your starting weight is, but I truly hope you can reach your goals while you are a part of this group!1 -
Good Morning BBT’s. Happy 2020.
My name is Karen. In new to this challenge but I’ve been on MFP for years gaining and losing the same pounds.
So my goal for this year is to lose the weight and then keep maintain it instead of bouncing back up.
@cmhubbard92
Step Goal/interested
60,000 per week
I work out 5-6 days per week, but a lot of my exercise doesn’t count as steps (Spinning/swimming), so this will force me into walking more
Water Challenge/interested
Does sparkling water (no sugar) count?
Food Challenge/interested
This will be my toughest one. I have a bad snacking habit 😢
Exercise Challenge/interested
This will easy for me. Is there extra credit?😄

@simbersea Hi Karen! Welcome to TBBT! For the water challenge, that definitely counts! I drink plain ice water, but I know that some people just don't enjoy it that way.
As for the food challenge, you can have snacks, you just have to stick to the planned snacks. It makes it easier to stick to if you allow yourself those treats, within reason!0 -

Hello team TBBT. The January Challenge doesn't officially start until Sunday, January 5th, but I thought I'd give you some more information so that you can be ready to jump in with both feet! Within the main weight loss challenge we have another optional, but highly recommended, challenge. It is called the Mini Ultimate Accountability Challenge, or the Mini Challenge. It is based on another MFP challenge group by the same name, or UAC.
The way it works is simple:
1. Log everything you eat that has calories in MFP.
2. Stay inside your allotted daily calorie budget.
3. Do at least 20 minutes of activity daily. This could be anything that gets you off the couch and being active: run, walk, cycle, swim, gardening, housework, yoga, gym, etc.
4. Report each day on this thread (something to the effect of logged food: yes, under calories: yes, exercise: yes, and a brief description is nice)
****When you post your accountability, please put the date, or the day of the week to which you are referring. We are all in different time zones, and some people post in the evening for that day, and others post the next morning, so it gets confusing trying to decipher without a day or date. Thanks!!!*****
You get one free pass day a week (went over calories, could not log food, rest day, etc.) At the end of the week, if you have managed to be "accountable" (three yes's) for at least 6 of 7 days, you will be recognized on this thread as being in the Winner's Circle!
This strategy works for weight loss because it is based on CI<CO. When calories in are less than calories out, you stay inside your allotted daily calorie budget, and you will lose weight! And exercise is just good for you, plus it will burn calories and help with the calories out portion of the equation!
What's great about this challenge is that it works for everyone, as long as you are honest with yourself. There are no dietary restrictions, so you can eat whatever you like, and follow whatever plan you like. Your own daily calorie budget is set by you and MFP and you choose your own exercise and intensity of exercise! Plus it is a practice that can be carried beyond weight loss into maintenance! If you are having a bad week, a new week and a fresh start is just around the corner!
Consistency and new habits have been shown to be the keys to long term successful weight loss. Why not make the Mini Ultimate Accountability Challenge your new habit, that you do consistently!!
Week #1 for the Mini Challenge starts Sunday, January 5th!!

Hi everyone! I'm Brandi. I am one of the TBBT co-captains. I'm 35. I'm a stay-at-home/ homeschool mom. I have been trying to get back to healthier weight for quite some time now. But I seem to keep going from one end of the 180s to the other. I am determined to keep trying.
I look forward to getting to know all of our new TBBT members and the continued support and inspiration from those that are continuing their journey here.2 -

I am 41 mother of one teen, working full time and living in Dublin Ireland. Last few years kicked my butt and unfortunately I regained weight. I have always had to keep an eye on my weight but never been overweight before and that's hard to face up to be honest. The generation before me - my parents side of the family all struggled/struggle with obesity and I knew it's going to be a challenge for me. This makes it even harder to accept that I still let it slip.
However, I am really positive about the year ahead. My goal is to go back to healthy BMI by end of March.
I am going to try to think about goals next few days and post them here but sustainability is a key for me.
Looking forward chatting to you all
