@Katmary71 We have a small, free gym in the building. Even with the work discount, YMCA can be pricey. I hope to win or be in the top 5.

@Cornanda, Lisa :) I lived in Florida for 15 years. I’m going down there at the end of the month to move my 77-year-old mother in with me. So, my empty nest is getting filled again. Just in a much different way. Fortunately, I didn’t have any Super Bowl food to tempt me! If it is tempting, you then just throw it away! I’m so glad you are here and working on your health. <3
So, I opened that bag of cookies, smelled their deliciousness and then sprayed furniture polish into the bag and tossed them into the garbage. How many times have I been determined to stay on plan only to be confronted with temptation and giving in to it? NOT today!! I was so proud of myself that I called hubby and told him, who was also so proud of me. o:)

Wow- that will be a big change for you- Mom moving in. Will pray for you both.

    Loooooovvvvee the furniture polish!

@Cornanda and @mrmcgrath one of the best things about getting to empty nest is when you discover your 'kids' are really neat adults. We have been enjoying the kids wanting to spend time with us by dropping over or visiting on a plan, discussing world events - just getting to know these people. And, wonder of wonders, we think they have liked discovering that their parents are pretty neat, too! We, hubby and I, love walking and biking, kayaking, visiting friends and family - spontaneous date night at the jazz club. All things we couldn't do when they were young or in sports or had band competitions. It's different and can be better in so many ways. From Maria's Empty Nest, thought you might like a glimpse into the future. =>

@mrmcgrath I was so intimidated by the stair treadmill but noticed the people doing it had awesome legs! I finally got mad that I was scared of it and my first time I did a slow 4 minutes too, my goal was to stay on for one song. It's now my favorite gym cardio, I was able to increase time and speed pretty fast. Now I'm fighting the urge to beat my flights of stairs until Saturday as I'm already soaked and need two water bottles when done!

    @Cornanda great steps!

    @Jactop nice loss!

@wwood008 and @nbbaby you got this!

    @Cornanda , @TeraBbreakingFree - Zowie! You had a great steps days yesterday! 👣 👍🏽

@TeresaW1020 - Wow! Like @Cornanda , I think that spraying the tempting cookies with furniture polish was brilliant! 🤣

@mrmcgrath - A huge HURRAY for not being stopped by how you looked on the stair climber! Is this the super challenging version that has actual steps that rotate? I have not tried that in a while, but last time I did, only got to 3 or 4 minutes, just like you!

@Wwood008 - 👐 Sending you a hug. Sorry the number is more than what you expected, but super glad to see you checking in rather than getting stopped! That says to me that you are still in the game, and that you'll be looking for how to make this week a little better than last week! Hang in there! 👐

@nbbaby - No worries about the hour! We are just glad to see you checking in. Hang in there, and keep up all the work you have been doing! The scale may tick up some weeks, but with your steady efforts, we know you'll get there! 👍🏽

    @Jactop - 🎈 Great weigh-in! Congratulations!

@Katmary71 - 👐 Big hugs on the off eating day while watching your nephew. Knowing you, I bet you are back on plan today!
Oh, and I am looking forward to hearing what you do with cassava! All I know is that you are supposed to eat it cooked but NOT raw.
I'll let you know if the new battery works. 🤞🏽 Crossing my fingers, as I don't feel like phone shopping, but do feel stuck and irritated at not being reachable in the usual ways!

@prowell57 - What @raleighgirl09 said! 👣 Every day is a baby step. Keep making small improvements, and you WILL get there. You are tackling some huge changes.
I hope your meal planning is continuing to go well -- that's definitely a great strategy!

🎈 Hurray to the Slimpossibles team for being down 1.61% as a group last week! Awesome work!
    🎉 Hurray for the Slimpossibles team mebbers on yesterday's leaderboard -- @MaegyS , @kayla7303 , @Motiv8tedMom ! Great work everyone!

Hello everyone! <3 Just a quick check-in. Today has been full of errands and helping hubby hang several pictures in our house that needed hung. Three of them went on the same wall and several times I had to nicely explain to my husband that close enough was NOT going to work and that they all had to be hung exactly the same. He is very good to me so yes there are several holes behind those pictures but they are now perfect. ;) Tonight is ladies Bible study so I am posting now because I won't be back on. Take care of yourself and remember to post your steps if you are doing the challenge. :)

    Track Every Bite
-I sure did and I’m under my calorie goal for the day.
NO gain on the scale-the scale was the same this morning.
Workout or 7500 steps-I did 60 minutes of 80 Day Obsession, Total Body Core. Steps for 2/3-8780
    IF (17+ hrs)- 17 hrs. 42 min.
Thoughts for the day-I had a good day and I'm pleased that I was able to do a couple of exercises this morning that I couldn’t do a couple of weeks ago. I am getting stronger and fitter, but boy does my body hurt and tomorrow is booty day, which I’m already dreading! Food was on point today as well.

    Tuesday Thinking
    Steps 03Feb2020 13,508

Had a great walk today listening to my podcast and thinking about things, the below are those -well, at least what I can recall. =>

Where I am now in the journey my mind feels like when I lost weight years ago, I'm much more consistent and successful and I have been at it for several months and feel really good about continuing my progress. It's been about 13 years since that feeling has been with me; I wasn't as committed to the long haul during those intermittent times, apparently, I think I was trying to ride the coattails of my past success rather than put in the hard work again. I maintained for a while and then began the climb and yo-yo cycle with the 50-60 pounds so I am super happy to be back with the needed mindset - occasional fails and all. I try really hard to remind myself daily now to not become complacent with food choices or skipping the walks, journaling and checking in here.

Exercise I have this odd thing happen to me that I don't know I've ever talked about - exercise induced anaphylaxis; allergic to exercise, true story. Well, it's actually a very mild allergy to wheat that can manifest into a dangerous event when triggered by exercise. I also get really strong endorphins from exercise and there are times I drive myself with very intense exercise which is what can create a problem with wheat in my system. Long story short (too late), I was super enjoying my walk today and really pushing at it as it was a really nice day but the prickly before-the-hives feeling reminded me to take it easy. I still got in a good walk but it's good to listen to the warning signs.

Body image TMI warning!! My butt cheek dimples (my mom used to have me run down the hall naked to show them off when I was a toddler!) are sagging in on themselves after nearly 50 pounds off of this 56 year old toushie - what are these??? Wrimples? Drinkles? I'll say this, it's probably not attractive and I'm not going to man the mirrors to try to confirm my suspicions. This was not an issue years back but I'll take it over puffed out dimples on a huger bum! Now this may be an odd thing to say but I've felt pretty a time or two, although sometimes when I look in mirror, I see something not quite as good as what was in my head - like some little bulges by my bra or arms kinda flappy (to match my wrimply dinkles) and I don't like that too much. This is not a body bash, I'm reporting my perception. I do remember that dropping to a size 10 before is where I stopped feeling completely fat and now that I am in a size 12 again (first time in years), I can feel this again, there really is a perceptible difference in how I see myself as I get smaller. It feels strange - and I remember that, too.

Scale thoughts: you don't own me, biyatch! Standing in solidarity with hubby and weighing once a week. He's having trouble enduring the swings and it's affecting his outlook so I made this suggestion to him and he agreed to weigh in on Thursdays, my weigh day in this group. Still comes with a a chance of one bad weigh-in due to sodium, over-indulging yesterday, whathaveyou, but at least he doesn't have to watch the daily thing. I don't mind as much but I've done it this way, too, and either is fine; I feel solid enough to not need the daily weigh.

NSV - So, I'm still stalled. The scale is staying within the same 4 lbs so no real gain. But my pants fit better and my waist is slimming down which also means, my tummy is slimming down at the sides now too. I'll take. I know I have to trust the process :)

I am just feeling so positive about this week! I have really dug my heels in and am refusing to be knocked off course. My daughter texted me just before I got off work today, tempting me to get takeout Chinese. I didn't even hesitate and wrote back that it's a trigger food for me (fried foods trigger me to want something sweet, which triggers me to want something salty). Instead, when I got home I asked if she wanted my home made peanut noodles instead. And she did. This may not seem like a big deal to others, but it's a huge accomplishment for me. Ended my calories today 4 under goal 💚

    Monday Check-in
Calories: under; all good, on-plan choices
    Water: on target
Exercise: resistance training (weights date with my husband!); martial arts class (80 min)
    Grateful for: my clean desk

Goals and Improvements for Tomorrow (Tuesday)
    - Breathing Exercises (daily 2+ min)
    - Meditation (daily 2+ min)
    - M.A. Forms Practice (daily 2+ min)
    - Exercise (6 x week/45+ min) - platform stepping
    - Food weighed/measured/on plan (daily)
    - Work on the To Do List, starting with replacing the battery in my nonfunctional phone (eek!)

@AustinRuadhain I am so impressed that you have a clean desk! You've had organizing and clearing clutter on the goals, it looks like it's paid off! Good luck with the phone - if it were up to me, I would likely be without a phone for a while as I struggled with it....

Well...went to gym yesterday and braved the stair climber. I managed 100 steps at a turtle pace. My goal is to increase steps each week. Normally, I avoid this particular machine because there are people there and I am embarrassed about the amount of time I can spend on it. Yesterday, I said screw it and did my 4 minutes!

@mrmcgrath that's so awesome, sometimes the gym can be quite intimidating - conquering those unknown machines one at a time is a wine! And I imagine stair climber to be quite the workout!

Exercise- don't know if this counts or not but it definitely was a workout. I carried loads and loads of split wood from our wood pile in back yard and stacked it all next to the front porch. We have a winter storm moving in around midnight tonight with snowfall expected around 4-8 inches and really cold temps. At least now we don't have to walk out in the snow for wood...just go out the front door and there it is lol.

Haven't been doing so good with my preplanned meals. My daughter came over and cooked dinner for us last night. Tonight we finished off the leftovers. I did good staying below my calories but went way over on carbs :( I think she's a carb-a-holic lol. Just about everything she cooks has lots of carbs.
This week hasn't been my best but I'm not giving in! Tomorrow is a new day and a new start!

quick last peek in on a Tuesday

Today has been a good day, choices were good and on plan, water was good, exercise was GREAT. Did my podcost and journaling of thoughts for the day. Ready to go to bed and try not to be all stuffed up - I think I may have an allergy to some early blooming thingy or other outside....? The currency for all of these lovely walks. =>

@rachelleahsmom this was a chucklemaker! This is totally a thing I would do with the getting the days and steps switched up, I love it! Glad to see ya stepping in the challenge! I also log my steps the following day so I don't miss even 1 (yes, I am that anal!!)!!!
@bethanie0825 what a wonderful NSV - so happy for you, and awesome steps!! =>
@vegan4lyfe2012 WAY TO GO - Chinese is quite the trigger for me as well, I just want to keep eating the yumminess. A copycat or similar recipe is the perfect answer - making dinner for your daughter...priceless. =>

Planned and Prelog 3 meals? all planned but didn't log ahead =<
    Times? B 10a, L 130p, D 7p
Non-planned eating and thoughts? nuts between lunch and dinner was not planned - I should have eaten an apple
Hunger? Normal hunger, not too much before any one meal but should have either eaten dinner sooner or
    Exercise? 2 walks in the hood, a 2.75 and a 1.65 miler
Sleep? 1030p - 7a [log the morning after]
Assessed the previous day / week / month?

@TeresaW1020 Sounds like you had a great day! It's exciting to experience physical changes, especially when doing challenging workouts like you are.

@raleighgirl09 that's frightening about anaphylaxis, thank goodness you know your body well enough that you knew to take it easy. I can relate to not seeing what you expect in the mirror! I feel better about myself when I look less often which isn't very healthy. I'm trying to get used to me now and appreciate the body I have but it's hard to not focus on the sags and bags.

@bethanie0825 great steps! Hang in there, the scale will catch up! Two days in the 15,000 steps, amazing!

@vegan4lyfe2012 So glad you're feeling good and recognize bad triggers, peanut noodles sound really good!

@prowell57 carrying firewood definitely counts as exercise! I've seen friend's exercise listed as carrying boxes and it's a good calorie burn. Good job staying under calories.

Good morning everyone. We woke up this morning to a winter wonderland, so pretty. Snow moved in around 3am, I got up at 6am and already about 2" and still coming down. Suppose to snow on and off all day. I made some homemade peanut butter suet for my feathered friends outside and put it out yesterday. I can't wait till it gets daylight and I can watch them eat ;)
@TeresaW1020 wow you're killing it with the exercise, great job👍🏼
@mrmcgrath good job at the gym. I've never done the stair climber but did get on the elliptical once. I lasted about 3 min lol.
@raleighgirl09 I just love your determination, so encouraging! Awesome job with your steps yesterday. I can relate to your body perception...same here. I always invisioned myself as looking fit when I lost weight but instead of fit I look more flappy...arms, stomach, neck. Omg yesterday when I was cleaning my face I noticed the turkey thing going on with my neck underneath my chin. I thought about what my mother-in-law used to say to exercise that area...say your vowels and exaggerate them as you say them, I actually caught myself doing just that. I'm sure my husband thought I was going crazy. I'm learning at my age my body isn't going to snap back into place as I get slimmer, kind of depressing but means I just need to work harder!
@vegan4lyfe2012 good for you to recognize your trigger foods👍🏼. Peanut noodles sound yummy.
@Katmary71 great job on your exercise. I've been slowly trying to declutter my house as well. My husband is a classic pack rat, he has his little piles everywhere, drives me crazy! Sometimes I catch him going through the trash to see if there's anything I've thrown out that he can recycle 🤨. He'll pull empty jars out of the trash, his excuse is he might can use them to keep nails, screws in but he's already got a shed full of jars and they're all still empty! I accuse him of being a hoarder lol.

My goals for today: walk 30 min on treadmill, drink my water, clean out and reorganize my pantry, get back on track with my eating.

Wrimples or Drinkles!! You are the BEST!!! :D:D:D It is interesting how we view ourselves as we get smaller. Yesterday, I was shopping for some P.J.'s to wear on a girl's weekend trip. I'm rooming with a woman who is legally blind but she can still see enough to know if I was to sleep naked as I do at home! :D So anyway, I stood there debating on if I should get the 2X or the XL top. I was sure that the XL would be too small but the 2X really did look big to me. The XL fit perfectly and was even a little big on me. It's motivating to be smaller and really makes me want to get the last 40+ lbs off and see how my body image changes. I do take lots of pictures of myself as I'm doing this journey and especially now that I've started working out. :)
