Non Scale Victories

I hold a lot of my weight in my lower abdomen, so far I've lost everywhere else except there. This morning I was sitting down and there is a definite depression in the middle of my pooch. I know it's nothing concrete but I can't stop touching it. lol.4

I just said in another thread that I had wanted to be below 260 lbs by my birthday (and that could mean even being at 259, as long as it was under 260), but didn't think I was going to make it. Then I step on the scale this morning, and instead of an increase as I was expecting since TOM should be here in under 24 hours from the signs I'm getting from my body, instead of that increase, I had a decrease from yesterday to 259.3 lbs!
I know that's a daily, all time low reading, and it will pop back up from there, and since I'm using the HappyScale trend now for recorded weight instead of Thursdays actual weight, it still might not be under 260 on Thursday when I record, but at least I know I'm going in the right direction, especially since I've been having a time with unwanted temporary weight the last few weeks-you guys have had the patience of saints putting up with my whining3 -
Congratulations!...hold your head up high because you are amazing!0

Kind of a weird one to describe. My computer area is set up at a recliner, and I use a lapdesk for my keyboard/mouse. For as long as I've used this setup (since we moved here Nov 2017), I've had to use a u-shaped "Boppy" pillow under my lapdesk because I didn't have enough of a lap for the desk.
As of the last week or so, my stomach has receded to the point where I don't need that pillow anymore.5 -
I have 2 today as I've not had any in ages!
I went on my 2nd cycle ride of the week and also in 4yrs since I got the bike.
BUT, my stomach has reduced so much now that it doesn't overhang or stick out, therefore as I peddle my thighs don't nudge it up and down and everything stays in the same place (if you get what I'm trying to say).
This is a really big confidence boost for me5 -
As of yesterday I am technically no longer obese. I know this is somewhat scale related but I am losing the obese label that I have had for most of my life.
I am not sure if the end comes with losing the 'overweight' label or not. I will see when I get closer.

congrats to merph518, Jackie9003, and NovusDies ! Those are great victories!
@merph518 My cat appreciates that I now have a lap he can lay on lol
@Jackie9003 That reminds me of when I finally was able to fit into a booth with a little room between me and the table, or my car and have room between me and the steering wheel.
@NovusDies My ultimate goal for this year is to get to the stage 1 obese category; I just left stage 3. I have 63 lbs to go before the overweight category. My big dream is to make it solidly back below 200 lbs, so I do want to go at least middle range overweight. I don't know if I have the fortitude to tough it out to normal range, even the uper end.2 -

My advice is not to worry about the end. I am getting closer and I am still not worried about it. There is no reason why I have to decide what my future self must do. Let him evaluate what is happening then and decide.0 -
yeah, I think about what end goal might be, but its so far away, that its more speculation than anything else. I just focus on the closer milestones, like getting down to 250, then 240, etc.1

That's fantastic, well done!1 -
I got on my bike today for the first time since last summer. The helmet I bought when I bought the bike has the strap out as far as it will go, and when I wore it last year, I felt like I was being choked because it was still tight around my neck.
Today, however, while it was still stretched out the full length, it wasn't so tight under my chin that I had that choking sensation - it fit like it should. That's a nice NSV to have!4 -

I need to find my helmet, my husband told me off for not wearing it
I realised mapmywalk also does cycling so I'm using that to track and log my rides as it integrates with this app. Love my stats!1 -

My dad and mom thought I was silly for buying the helmet, let alone wearing it. I never used a helmet when riding my bike as a kid in the late 80's/early 90's. But when I bought the bike about 3 years ago now, I bought the helmet because 1) its the law 2) safety is important and 3) I hadn't been on a bike in over 20 years - I was wobbly and uncertain during the first two rides, feeling alot like the bike was in control and not me. I wanted the helmet because the chances of wrecking were pretty even and I ain't as young as I used to be! lol3 -
I have to say, helmets work. I was riding my bike on a path and had to go around these walkers who, even though I said "on the left" would not move and I wound up falling off the bike and hitting my head. The first thing I thought was "Dang! I barely felt that, these helmets work!" LOL.3

My measurements are all down today!
And while its related to scale victories, too, I've noticed that the water weight issues I seemed to fight constantly have gone away since I upped my activity. Besides trying to strengthen my cardiovascular system, the cardio activity I'm doing is also helping my system get the water out! Course, it makes sense when I think about, I suppose: getting my heart rate up gets my heart to pumping, which gets the blood circulating better, and that helps the body push that water out5 -
Just something that has been slowly registering on me lately; my torso feels smaller. You know, when I put my hands on my waist, it just feels different, smaller. And I noticed this weekend that my wrists are looking a lot smaller to me, too! And I can nearly touch my middle finger to my thumb when I circle my hand around one wrist - there's maybe a 1/2" gap. It just all feels strange! Nice, but strange4

I took the extenders out of all of my bras this morning!....I almost binged last night but I didn’t!...I went to sleep instead and stayed out of the kitchen....was very proud of myself this morning and the urge to binge had passed!4

Today I took out some old clothes that would be too tight, now they fit just fine! (-26 pounds in 52 days)
56th day today, will see the scale on friday but with the coronavirus and all the workouts i'm putting in, whatever the scale says, it doesn't matter. The mirrors speaks more
Keep grinding everyone.2 -
When I started this weight loss journey, my wedding and engagement rings were so tight I couldn't take them off. 102 pounds later, I noticed that when I went running yesterday by rings were riding up my finger as I ran. I was worried they might fly off. I'll need to get them resized when the jewelry stores reopen again.4
-
@speyerj perhaps you might want to put them on a chain around your neck until you can get them resized! Good problem to have, though!2

I got two separate comments this week about how my face looks a lot thinner.5

Mine is both a win and a loss. I took some time off this weekend. We live in the Natural State so there are so many different places to hike and beautiful nature. So we picked a trail that I had never been on and did a 4 mile hike. It was beautiful. Big waterfall. It was a hard hike but I was able to keep up with my sister and climbed up all the rocks and boulders. I was super proud of myself.
Why is that also a loss? Cause I completely overdid it and now I can barely walk. I strained my knee and it is now swollen. Oh well it was a great hike.5 -

I am envious and sympathetic. I am just waiting for the trails to open around here. I won't be doing any of them without my knee supports though.
Feel better soon. If you thought to take a picture that you feel comfortable sharing please do!1 -
@NovusDies I did take some wonderful pictures. However I have no idea how to get them into MFP. I am on an iPhone and apparently it doesn't work right!1

Don't ask me. I only post from a computer. Someone will know though.1 -
I don't get to post a lot in this thread anymore which I guess is a victory in of itself. However, I am realizing I need a weight for my riding lawnmower to help deal with the hill in my backyard. How about that for a funny twist? When I started I could not physically fit on a riding lawnmower and now I am too light for it.7
