@AustinRuadhain Thank you so much! I have done a better job of making sure I log into MFP every day but getting used to checking the groups still takes some getting used to. LOL

@Katmary71 I think having a weekly goal to get me to the monthly might really help me. Getting back on my game is the hardest part. I know making everything the habit takes a couple of weeks. I'll get there. Eventually. One day at a time.

Good morning everyone! After a nice chat with a running friend of mine yesterday, where he reminded me that the worst part about skipping workouts/runs is the regret afterwards, I made myself go for a walk yesterday even though I had just about talked myself out of it. I wanted to go to the gym but my daughter was on the phone with her best friend and hadn't talked to her in days and didn't want to get off the phone. It was raining outside but it had let up, so...we improvised...I made her get off of the computer and let her talk to her best friend while we walked for almost a mile and a half in the rain. It was only sprinkling at this point. At least I get Day 2 of my streak in. This morning I worked on my spreadsheet and filling in all of my charts so I could see where I stood with my goals.

    July Update:

    Steps:
    Goal - 7,500/day
    232,500/July
    Current - 154,070
Remaining - 8,715/day for 9 days to hit goal

    Miles:
    Goal - 1.00/day
    31.00/July
    Current - 19.58 (yes, that's really a number)
Remaining - 1.27/day for 9 days to hit goal

I think it's doable as long as I keep my head in the game and make myself put the work in...even on the weekend...which is really the most difficult time for me (and a lot of other people).

    Have a great day y'all!!! <3

@Katmary71 – I’ve read Tommyknockers twice. Love it! I have never seen The Entity…but now I’ll have to find a copy to watch. I love horror – my physical media collection is about 1,450 DVDs & BluRays. I’m always on the lookout to add to it. P.S. I love Candy Cane Lane tea, too! It’s like we’re twinsies!

@trooworld – I am looking forward to reading it. You definitely need to read Tommyknockers…and then let us know if you have any nightmares!

    22 ½ hours to go!

I finally caught up on reading all the posts while riding my stationary bike so it took me a while to catch up. We have such a great group. Lots of inspiration here. All of you who push through pain, injuries and other obstacles inspire me to suck it up and get moving.

@GretchenReine thanks for the reminder about making smaller goals to achieve a bigger one. I always have an all or nothing attitude but get better results when I work on taking baby steps

Thanks for all the book recommends so I know what NOT to read lol. I'm the biggest chicken. I used to see ghosts when I was a kid and was a teenager before I was brave enough to venture down our dark hallway without dragging one of my sisters along

Hello- Today is vegetable Thurs. I'm grocery shopping tomorrow, so I'm trying to eat all the veggies snippets up that are left. Also hoping this helps my weigh in tomorrow.

    @raleigh_girl - thinking of you......
    @vegan4lyfe2012- congrats on the engagement!
@Katmary71- I'm with you- so grateful for this group!

@vegan4lyfe2012 and @trooworld I absolutely loved Tommy Knockers! My nightmares came from Pet Semetary! OMG I loved that book so much!!! I couldn't put it down...and then...I couldn't sleep!

@Jactop I'm the exact same way. My bestie does weekly ones and suggested it. I think it's worth a shot. I tend to get down on myself when I can't hit every goal every time. This month I'm doing better than I have in the past.

@GretchenReine Good for you for getting in a great walk and not letting the rain slow you down! I love a good spreadsheet.

@trooworld I hope you enjoy Comic-Con. Years ago we had some friends who talked us into going to Dragon-Con in Atlanta. I didn’t know anything about it at the time but let me tell you that I saw some VERY interesting people!! ;)

@MommaGemz Water retention is annoying but you know that it will all wash out. Drink a few more glasses of water and stay the course. :)

@vegan4lyfe2012 I can’t do horror anymore. When I was a teenager, I loved it but now it makes me very anxious. I have hard enough time with a really violent show. I hope all goes well with you getting the cast off. :)

@Jactop I’m a big chicken too! It wasn’t until I was a grown up that I would sleep with my hand or foot of the edge of the bed. I knew there weren’t monsters, but I also knew I wasn’t taking any chances. :D

@gwamajtw91 The scale is a fickle device. The other day I did amazing and was sure I would be down the next morning, but I was up almost a pound. Last night I drank two glass of wine and ate more than usual and was down a half pound. This is why I did a weekly average now. You will lose big next week! :)

@Cornanda I grocery shop on Mondays and often will make a sheet pan dinner on Sunday so I can roast up all the leftover veggies. Maybe we should start the Happy, Sappy Book Club for all us horror wimps. :D

Hi everyone! Sorry I missed posting yesterday. I honestly can’t even remember why. Today, I went into work for a while and cleaned the offices. I realized that I hadn’t cleaned it since last March when we shut down for Covid. Our poor bookkeeper made a comment that the place was really looking bad. Ooops! :D Fasting is going well although I have been slacking a little on the duration of my fast and need to step up my game. I was going to fast longer today but I had two glasses of wine last evening and I’m always so hungry the next day. Guess I might need to lay off the wine for a few weeks. :'(:p

I thought I was the only one lol. I'm still not comfortable letting body parts hang over the side of the bed and if I haven't outgrown that fear yet I'm guessing it's not going to happen.

I'll join the Happy Sappy Horror Wimp Book Club

    Friday check in
All week has been the same.

Exercise is good. Either weights or cardio. Steps most days have been at least 16k (trying to stay ahead of Mystery Mike)

    Water is good

Food is where I'm having the problem. I start out great then blow it at the end of the day. Today I'm going to try eating more calories earlier and see if that helps.

@trooworld So glad you reserved the audio book! I just stopped this morning and picked up The Heart Shaped Box. I read the Shining, too. Oh man, was it wicked! I really wish, instead of a 2 hour movie, they had made a series out of Needful Things. Have you read that one? There were so many intersecting characters in the book and there just wasn't enough time for a regular movie.

So Hello, everyone! It's a super happy day! I got my cast off (little disappointed that the scar is only 4 1/4" long cause I thought it was longer, but it's still pretty wicked)...got on the scale and I'm down 5.4 pounds from my surgery day (Yay!)...AND I GOT A CALL FROM MY SON! I KNOW WHEN HIS SHIP IS RETURNING AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM!!! HOOYAH!

    @katyjcrafts nice loss!

@TeresaW1020 Nice total loss, that's amazing!

@Jactop I don't know if it would help you but I've started drinking tea again after dinner. It worked for a long time but it's hot now so I'm waiting for it to cool off before drinking it.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Someone upstairs doesn't want me to answer you, I keep accidentally deleting everything! First, congratulations on the great loss! Second, congratulations on your son! Third, congratulations on losing the cast! Woot woot! I agree about Needful Things, each episode could be a different person's story. Sell the idea, I'd watch!

    Arm/ab strengthening- done
    Yoga- done
    Journaling- done
    Steps- 12,000

Well, back on track on my new diet and spent half the day reading labels at Sprouts and Trader Joe's, it's frustrating how much sugar, potato starch, dairy, and gluten is in EVERYTHING. Every fruit salsa has sugar which is stupid, why does pineapple habanero need sweetener? I put off my lunch salad because I couldn't decide what I wanted for dressing when I have 15 open dressings I can no longer eat. I ended up with apple cider vinegar and lemon juice with Penzey's Fox Point for dressing. I REALLY miss beans, that's what I miss the most so far. It seems so backwards to have organic sausage for dinner but beans aren't ok? I bought tahini and don't remember why I wanted it. I have absolutely NO idea where to find Nutritional Yeast at Sprouts, I went down every aisle without luck! I was irritated there anyway because a woman left her Husky in a closed car so I had her timed or I was calling the police or screaming at her in 10 minutes so between making sure her dog didn't die and dealing with labels I was on edge. Been a weird day, I'm worn out from doing a lot but have been doing a lot of thinking lately about what I really want out of life. I guess that's not uncommon during COVID, seems to bring a lot of reflection up for people.

    Previous weight:173.0
    Current weight: 171.9
    LTD MFP #2 63.1 lbs
    LTD overall 128.1 lbs

Hi gang, I'm hanging in....thanks @Cornanda for keeping me in your thoughts! I haven't ready any posts, really, just a few ahead of what I'm adding for my weigh in.

Been busy - had an outdoor small gathering today for one of the kiddos who got a job in one of the small museums in downtown Raleigh, different kiddo and museum from the one referenced below. Very proud of him and was glad we could gather a few folks outdoors for a socially distanced summer grilling fest complete with a fire in the pit when it got dark.

My mom is in rehab, not sure when she's going home. I haven't seen her but I call her daily - I'll be going to her house and prepping for her and my step-dad to return, I just am not sure when. I had a long dang interview yesterday (7 people, 45 min each, 11a-630p with 2 breaks) that went well but not perfect. We'll see how that goes. Babysat the sweet granddaughter last week 1 day and this week 2 days and then my son and his wife dropped a bomb shell that they thought it would be months or a year or a vaccine before I saw her again....needless to say this didn't go over very well. I'm worn out with the emotion of it, I finally realized that when I am feeling is grief. Literal - grief. They have backed off from that some, not a lot, and I'll get to see them tomorrow. Monday starts daycare and parents working in a museum and hospital - not gonna lie, I am struggling with their decision that seems completely irrational to me.

My food life is ok, have had more calories than I'd like the past few days and have logged them. I'll be backing them back down over the next few days - I don't feel any particular way about it, it just is or has been and I feel ok but being able to be back on track. Water is way down and I need to work on it. Sleep is down and I don't know how to fix it, exactly. One might say - go to bed earlier....one might be right. => Exercise has been good and partly to blame for sleep as I have been getting up earlier before my contract work or babysitting or insanely long interviews and taking an early walk. The walk is very helpful for not only starting the day but for thinking. Or listening to podcasts and purposefully not thinking. Both are helpful, in turn.

Looking forward to having some time tomorrow to read some posts... =>

@trooworld Our Sprouts here have the bins shut down or that would be perfect. I wonder if Winco has it? Congratulations on the bathroom news!

@raleighgirl09 I'm so sorry you're struggling right now. Hugs to you. Walking is a great idea, I know both being outside and the movement helps me mentally. Plus I listen to disco when I walk so I'm smiling the whole time!

    Saturday check-in
Exercise- belly dancing, stretching yoga, Kundalini Yoga, root chakra meditation, arm cardio, Fitness Marshall, hip hop, foam rolling, earth energy meditation, abs, the splits!
Water- awesome, I'm super thirsty so I'm drinking a lot

    Cardio 30 minutes- done
    Abs/arms- done
    Yoga- done
    Steps- 11,500
Journaling- I knew I forgot something tonight!

I'm watching The Resurrection of Jake the Snake on Amazon right now. One of my friends on here told me about DDP yoga and sent me a link. The show is about Jake going from overweight and barely being able to move, doing drugs and drinking himsef to death, to transforming his life. Of course I read the schedule and am all fired up but I just added belly dancing, the splits by my birthday, Kundalini yoga, and root chakra work into my routine, shoot! I can't workout ALL day! I'll try it tomorrow and see if I can physically handle it. I kinda talked my brother into trying it too when they finish Insanity so I'll have a "team" to do it with. I haven't had a good challenge since I was trying to beat weight-lifting amounts and flights of stairs on the stair treadmill. The splits will be tough but I know I'll do it. I may have to chop cardio a bit for more yoga. I swore I'd never be calm enough to do yoga too! They made the mistake of saying it's "guy" yoga. Yeah, time to pull out my lame pink weights and show them what's up!

Not much else is going on. My parents stopped by but because my allergies are acting up and I can't swear it's allergies we stayed apart from each other. I just feel a little worn down and have a cough which I normally don't have with allergies, I'll see how I feel tomorrow. Diet is going well, I think NOT eating sugar and carbs is helping me not overeat. I'm bloated, broken out, blood sugar is higher than my usual (still low though), and resting pulse rate is way up plus I'm up to 145 so I've gained over 20lbs the last few months pain bingeing. I feel good about being proactive even if I'm not thrilled about my diet. My Dad normally works out every day at his gym but with it closed has completely slacked. I'm the third generation on his side of the family to have back surgeries and he really needs to work out but couldn't get motivated at home. His gym just closed again but has equipment outside and he's making excuses about why it's impossible to exercise. Yeah, I'm flapping my arms in front of a desk and laying on the floor to lift weights right now because I can't do much else. I know I'm being a pain-in-the-butt but I've sent him videos, gave him resistance bands, suggested working out in the morning, etc and he's not biting. He's real worn down and tired too so I'm concerned about him. He complains a lot and doesn't like it when you offer suggestions so it's not uncommon, it's just always stressed me out because I'm trying to find ways to help him and especially with something like pain and movement I know how difficult it can be. He's got to really want it though, I can't do it for him.

    Weigh in Apple852hk
    Week 4 - July 2020 Sunday
    PW 142lbs (64.5kg)
    CW 143.7 (65.2kg)

Gained - I hit a plateau all this week. Yesterday I succumbed to eating 5 dough cookies. Followed by courgette soup. Felt belly hurt as eat too much. Have a light breakfast f yoghurt and fruit only.

Not sure how I'll lose more weight as didn't eat snacks anymore and hardly any chocolate.

Eating potatoes does make me gain weight though. I still have 6 potatoe plants to dig. That's like 60 potatoes to use up. Apart from spicy potatoe salad, not sure what else to make.

I went on a 10 mile , 3 hour hike on Friday but feeling tired since. Sleeping has not been great. I'll go to bed at 8pm but wouldn't fall asleep until 11pm. So now I'm trying to not go to bed until when I'll go to sleep straight away.

Still need to work on eating meals for over 1 mins.

I have been finding I don't want to eat as much but still fill my plate quite full. This week I'm going to try and put less food on my plate.

    GOALS
    1. Eat slower. At least 15 mins
    2. Prepare less food on the plate and go for seconds than cook too much.
