A confession of falling off the wagon...
I received a call yesterday that my mom was hospitalized with covid. Being 7 hours away I began to panic, not that there is anything I can do if I had been with her. I immediately had thoughts of my 71 yr old, obese, HBP, diabetic mom with covid.
After a couple hours of phone calls with various people, I find out she was hospitalized for cellulitis in her foot, but did test positive for covid, but it appears to be a mild case at this point.
The emotional damage was done. I ate like crap. But, I didn’t drink. I am 290 days sober.
This is just a confession6 -

Question of the day:
How do you get your mindset back after a mishap?
I remind myself that letting one mishap turn into another and another and another is how I keep getting back to an unhealthy weight.
I want to be healthy so I feel good both physically and emotionally. I want to be able to keep up with my dogs. I want to be the old lady who can run circles around the whippersnappers. And yes, damnit I want people to be like “oh my god you look great” or “I never would have guessed that you’re 42”! And I can’t have those things if I let a mishap turn into a spiraling disaster of “f it let me just eat anything and everything”.
Of course I was assuming the question related to eating/tracking mishaps. But I currently approach everything in my life in generally the same manner currently where I kind of get a bit tough with myself. Not beat myself up for the mishap, but cut the poop out before it gets out of control. So it happened, can’t undo it, dwelling on it will only make it more likely to happen again.4 -

You are amazingly strong!! You are my hero I swear!! Your journey is real honest and beautiful!! I am thankful to know you!! Sending healing to your mom and a quick recovery!! Sending strength to you!! You got this!!1 -
Well I had several months of mishaps now I am slowly adjusting my habits. Now yesterday I sat down and ate a lil cause my emotions were outta control. As soon as I realized why I was eating I put it down and went and moved my *kitten* to make room for the mishap!! Today water water water!! Shrink the belly! Eat when I'm hungry stop when satisfied!! Listen to my body and find other ways to get emotions dealt with! Journaling helps me a lot!! Need to be more diligent with it!! Seems like each day right now I have a mishap. It's hard living this close to my mom. She has drank a gallon of whiskey a week my whole life. Her memory is failing because of it. We live with 2 different people. Drunk Darla by night. Kinda mom by day. She doesn't see how or why it affects us. She wants me to do it with her. Spiteful Darla gets mad and does crazy *kitten* that mom just can't believe happens.....the struggle is real y'all!! So there....guess that needed to come out haha1

F2F Survey Report (a bit long, but please read!)
A big thank you to all the people who responded to our survey! Sixty-four responses were submitted. There was a lot of love, and many great ideas. Here are the highlights and some insights into how you can get even more out of F2F:
First of all, over 96% of you find that being on one of the F2F teams has helped you lose weight and improve fitness, 41% consistently and 56% at least some of the time. This is great! Most people are active in the team chats, and enjoy them as the best part of F2F.
The full group challenges are used by about half of the respondents. There are a few people who are not aware of them, or just get frustrated with MFP navigation. I know that navigating around the different areas of F2F can be tricky, especially if you are using a phone or tablet, but if you all bookmark/mark as favorite the F2F “home” page, you can find everything from there more easily. Here it is:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/114605-fat-2-fit-weight-loss-challenge-and-support-group
Full group challenges are meant to be optional, so there is no problem if you don’t have time or they do not interest you. We try to vary them as much as possible. Some people would like more fitness-based challenges, especially if they include modifications for those who need them. We’ll keep this in mind! If you have other suggestions, they are always welcome in the Idea Lounge (get there from the main page link above).
Internal team challenges also get about a 50% thumbs up (step teams, etc.) and some people would like to see more of that, others find it just clutters up the chat thread. Keep reading for some ideas on how to improve your experience if you are not feeling like your team does it for you!
One of F2Fs strengths is the openness to different approaches, ways of supporting one another, ages, levels, and general styles. A few people who answered the survey were unhappy with what I would call the team style or “feel”. Too much chat, not enough chat, too many challenges, not enough, too strict, too open - you get the idea. If you are feeling any of those things, please take some time to read the other team chats. Just browse through a few days of each, and see if there is one that fits your own style better than where you are. A change of team is always possible, and sometimes gives renewed energy and feeling more “at home”. Never hesitate to ask for a change if you want to give that a try!
If you want to make your team even better, go ahead and suggest some ideas. See what your teammates think, get involved, and you will improve your own weight loss while helping others. Don’t just wait for the captains to do everything :-)
A couple other problems people encountered that can’t really be fixed easily:- Tracking difficult? Not sure what this means. Members do not need to track - only post weekly weigh-ins. If you have any problem, please ask on the team chat or by message. I’m sure it can be made clearer.
- Too many new people on the team at the beginning of each month. No one likes it when this happens. This is why it is super important to make new people feel welcome, have their posts answered, spend some time chatting with them so they do not feel like strangers and don’t just disappear. No team needs new members if no one leaves… it is in everyone’s interest to build a community where you only need a couple of new people from time to time. The first week each month is the key to keeping members, but sometimes it just isn't the right moment, or they signed up for too many things. It happens - so do your best to keep them, and don't sweat it too much if they decide to leave.
Some new ideas that might be fun:- Body measurements instead of just weight - maybe monthly?
- Full group thread on how to set goals, kind of a step-by-step
- Weekly milestones? Habit tracker record for the week, fitness goals accomplished, etc.
- Maintenance chat - there is one! Called “Goal Zone” - check it out! Link from main page.
- Full group discussion threads - check out the Idea Lounge (can be ANY kind of ideas), and the Recipe thread.
- Buddies - feel free to set this up with anyone on your team, or if you want to know who has which fitness tracker, there is a thread on the main page for that as well.

It's exactly the same! I'm pretty happy with it cuz I did have some goodies, but didn't overdo it - and I guess it balanced out!2 -
Question of the day:
How do you get your mindset back after a mishap?
Let it go! Hop back on track and look forward, not behind. Perfection is unrealistic. We are winning this health journey if we forgive, permit and accept mishaps, and move forward with our goals
Much love to you and your mama! You've got this girl!3 -
@Beka3695 I'm praying for quick recovery for your Mom!
I've had my fair share of mishaps over the last few months. You've seen my struggle. What really works for me is really letting go on the day that I feel down. I don't log and don't feel guilty about it either. Then the next day I start out with my IF and the energy I feel from that combined with eating better and logging again is what works.
I also use the MFP personal blog space to get all of my feelings out and I created a vision board. One of the items on there is a list of my "why's" to remind myself why I'm doing this.
Take care lady! 🙏💗2 -
Hi guys!!! Mom is doing well. She is home and ok. My stress eating has lessened!
Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes!9 -

What is your latest non scale victory - NSV?
I’m about to move countries but I’ve stuck with my exercise routine right to the bitter end...usually (I move countries every few years) I tend to quit the last week or two with the rationale “oh my routine is about to be shot anyway”.
Eating habits not so positive but at least there has been exercise every day.
Glad your mum is recovering @Beka3695 .
I can’t believe it’s 1 week today until Christmas and 2 weeks until 2021. Hope you all have a good end to the year filled with love and maybe not TOO many edible treats :-)

I knew this was going to happen so I decided to join Planet Fitness to help boost my enthusiasm about fitness/weight loss. First session is tomorrow. Time to stop phoning it in. I commit to logging my food, staying within my calories, and going to PF three times a week.

I love the questions of the day! It's a great way to get some great conversation going. @imgwendolyn2015 I had seen the MFP personal blog, but never used it. I've been thinking the last few weeks that maybe some journaling would really help me in my slump, so maybe I'll try that!
@Beka3695 , I'm sorry your mom was ill, but so happy to hear she's recovering well, and that you're also feeling better.
Yesterday was my weigh in, but I forgot, so I weighed this morning. It. Was. Awful. I hope most of my gain is water retention cause I've been eating more restaurant food this week. But, that's only part of it. My sweet tooth also went off this week, and I've been having a lot of chocolate and other Christmas treats. I've not craved stuff like this in like 6 months, so I'm a little surprised about how much I'm craving the unhealthy food. Maybe it is true that when you indulge, it actually triggers that craving mechanism to have more? Anyhow, I'm a little lost. I know I'm struggling, I also know what I have to do, but I'm paralyzed.
On the plus side, I was sick last week, got tested, it wasn't Covid, but I was still sick after a week. I spoke with my doctor this past Monday and sent her some pics, and I have strep throat! It's been ages since I had strep. I started penicillin on Monday night, and I'm feeling way better. Because strep is super contagious, I've been isolating now for a week and a half, but I think I will venture out of my house today. I did shovel yesterday, so I got some fresh air which was nice.
Anyways, here goes the awfulness. I debated about asking for a week off so I wouldn't need to make this public, but I decided these gains are part of real life and the rollercoaster ride of losing weight. Deep breath!:
