HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
We also track those small, steady losses with the Green Week count. If you lose, however small an amount, it counts for 1 week in the green. At the end of the month we celebrate everyone who lost every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Username
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you need a week off, a break, a change of weigh-in day - just ask your Captains here on your team chat page. If you take a break, you are moved to the Support Team. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions and weigh in if you want to, but your weigh-ins will not be counted on the weekly tally. If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to ask if you are travelling, sick, or just needing some time off.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You need support to maintain, and you can help your teammates join you. You continue to weigh in every week, and if you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

Welcome to May!
This is our home for the month, where all of our triumphs and challenges take place. Please (re)introduce yourselves and set some goals and daily actions for the month. Focus on the small every day choices, and you will get where you want to go!
I am Liselyn, co-captain along with @micki48. I live in rural Québec, about 85 miles east of Montreal, and I'm a retired university professor of music. My weight loss story? After being somewhat overweight for most of my life, I really packed it on while in an admin job that involved a lot of sitting, meetings, travel, and meals. I tried many times to lose, but it was not until I was 58 that I got really serious with both food and exercise, and lost 40 pounds. I have been in a good zone for almost 9 years now, always refining and figuring out the things that work best, and making sure I don't have to do it all over again. Yes, it is possible to lose weight and get in shape during and after menopause!
I know there are people on this team who have a lot to lose, others who have lost a lot and are closing in on their goals, and some who might be working on losses that are stubbornly resisting. There is much wisdom here, and the most important lesson we learn from each other time and time again is that it is not a straight shot, there will be trials and errors, and sticking with it when it feels like you have fallen off yet again is the best thing you can do for yourself. Plateaus can be good, but going back the way you came is not!
Some helpful information/tools:
Posting your daily updates
We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...
Weighing in
Please try to weigh in on time! When you post, put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, please request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can request to move to the "Support Team" where you can still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.
The F2F Habit Tracker
If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try. You can see how your teammates are doing too The link is under "Announcements" on the main F2F page or go directly to:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1csppgqduVDCP95RPzgDNdUoEQBJAbFDFpy-HBP1vFsc/edit?usp=sharing
So everyone, tell us a bit about you. It's fun to know your name and where you live, if you're willing to share that, and what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. Let the introductions roll!0 -
Happy May every one, and welcome to the new team mates.
I'm Katie, 33 from near Nottingham, UK. I live with my husband and our cats, work in software consultancy and DIY seems to be a theme in my posts. I gained weight mostly in my early 20s, losing some/most and gaining it all back several times. I've been doing this since January and am ~8kg down at this point so it's going really well.
For May I'm not planning any changes from my April routine apart from I have my new workout to keep up with. I have a full version and a condensed version, the latter being for days when I'm running or we have a long (over 5 miles) walk.
Restrictions will hopefully ease again this month and we may have house guests, so the emphasis will be on finishing some DIY (namely the bathroom) and general cleaning/tidying. I've ordered a Kadai for the garden and am looking forward to learning a new style of cooking; I imagine us doing curries and stews on it as well as more typical bbq grills. I bought some wider shelves for the garage so I can organise everything better and hopefully give myself more workout room; I have a home gym in there. Can't wait for it to be tidy again!6 -
Hi everyone, Ashley here.. I am 34 years old, live in Airdrie, Alberta (just outside Calgary), and I'm married with one dog and two cats. I work in a managerial position for an oil and gas company. During the summers, we spend a lot of time at Pine Lake at our seasonal RV park.
I was an extremely active child... played competitive softball, hockey, and every sport under the sun. A move across the country in junior high completely jarred my routine and my confidence and I stopped playing sports at the same frequency. I grew up in a home where food was often convenient, prepackaged or take out, and it was used for comfort... so I started to pack on the pounds without the high level of activity to burn it off.
All of my adult life, I've either been gaining, trying to lose, or ignoring my weight completely. The typical yo yo situation. I reached my higher weight ever this January after COVID and a long period of not monitoring myself at all. Woke up one morning with an unusually strong desire for change, and I've been going strong ever since. Down almost 40 pounds in just over 3 months with another 80+ to go.
This is my second month for the group and I love the support of a daily check-in. Welcome new members and thanks to old for making my first month a positive one.
After 16 weeks of straight deficit, I will be starting a two week diet break (aka eating at maintenance) on May 20. I will continue to weigh in.
Let's do this team!5 -
Hey everyone. I am Lori. I went off track a bit this week but am getting back this month. I am doing keto for type 2 diabetes. My glucose has been at a good level. My goals are to stick with my eating plan, walk at least 3x /week and lose weight. I have 15 lb to my initial weight goal and then I will evaluate my ultimate goal. I also would like to sleep at least 7 hr. I don’t always sleep well. Nice to be here.4
-
I’m Gary and I live in Florida. I’m down 40+ pounds since the end of December and this is my 2nd month in the group. I’ve been taking 4-6 Pilates classes per week, walking when I can, and following a keto diet. After 19 years home with the kids my youngest is driving now and I’m using my new found time to take care of myself! Good luck to all!7
-
After four great months on plan the wheels came off the bus today! I’m not sure why. I’ve stayed keto but there’s a good chance I’ll triple my normal calorie allowance. I should probably go to bed right now so I stop eating!!3

So last week was just not feeling well still and extremely exhausted. So no real steps or logging meals and a slight weight gain. Just finally feeling normal today.🙌 So here are my stats.

CW: 113.3
Met all goals today. Steps today 13793.4 -

One thing I did not include above that might be of interest -
You can view the F2F spreadsheet any time. This is a great source of information about yourself and everyone else in the group. Everyone's weekly weigh-ins are there. Their cumulative totals. The number of weeks each person hits "green" and loses even a little bit. Steps. People's names if they have shared them. Their total loss from their highest weight ever. It is all there.
It can be useful to look at the stats for all the teams. You'll see how often a large loss one week is followed by a bounce back up, and then you might not feel so worried when that happens to you. It's pretty normal. You'll see how a small weekly loss adds up to over the month and be amazed at how much some people lose in spite of a slow pace or a bunch of setbacks. In any case, if that sounds like something you'd like to look at from time to time, here is the link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1csppgqduVDCP95RPzgDNdUoEQBJAbFDFpy-HBP1vFsc/edit?usp=sharing
Each team has a tab at the bottom - find WaistAways and there we are. Be sure to scroll all the way right (to see the green weeks and where people live), and all the way down (to see the step/exercise team, the goal zone for those maintaining, the support team for people taking a break from weight loss but still on the team, and the list of people who drop either by choice or by non-participation.

You're the first of the new month! Show everyone how it is done
New here? Be sure to read the top posts on this thread where everything is explained. If anything is unclear just ask! It can be a bit tricky navigating around all the different places in F2F, but everyone will help out and you'll be feeling at home soon.1 -
Sunday weigh in:
Yinxfed
PW - 188.7
CW - 188.7
I would have preferred a loss - no matter how tiny - but I am happy to just stand right here.
It's just gorgeous outside at the moment, so I'm off for my walk now. I'll be back to report on my stats later.4 -
Your MAY HABIT TRACKER is up and ready for you to fill out and start tracking the habits that will help you get closer to your goals!3 -
Good Morning! My name is Kelly. I am a wife, mother of 4, and Kindergarten teacher. I joined the group Jan 2020. In 2020, I gained muscle, dropped a pant size, but had minimal scale movement. 2021 will hopefully bring me to my go weight. I am 5 pounds away from my first goal weight, prebaby 3 weight. I track my calories and macros. I can usually hit my protein goal, but my fat/carbs are usually off. I workout with a variety of Beachbody workouts, but I don't sale it or drink the shakes. I just like the workouts.5

Good morning, signed up for this last week and just now getting a chance to post. My heaviest weight was 330 back in August of 2020 and my current weight is 292.1 I started using MFP almost 10 years ago more and have been up and down like a yo-yo with my weight, mostly up though. So when I saw the scale hit 330 last August I knew it was time to make a change. Since August I have been using the app daily and trying to stay under my daily target. I lost around 25 pounds between August and January 1 and got down to around 305. I was hoping that the trend would continue for the first 4 months of this year but it's been a much slower process for a multitude of reasons. I'm looking forward to being in this group and watching the numbers drop like they did last year.5

Welcome! If you are comfortable to share them, please let us know your first name and where you live - it is nice to know if you're ok with that. If not, no worries! In any case, you have made a fantastic start, and we're hoping you'll find good support and encouragement here. There are a couple of other guys so you are not the only one, and they are often the leaders of the losing pack. Jump right in and run with it2 -

Morning all! The first weekend at our trailer is going well. There are more instances here of "less control", in that we have had foods a couple of times that I've had to estimate more than normal. This won't be the norm but it was my challenge right away and so far I've been happy with how I've handled myself.
So weird that I've been out here two nights already and still haven't had anything to drink... normally lake time spells beer, and it will.... but I haven't had the space for liquid calories this weekend, so I've passed.
Also had one neat thing happen... a trailer neighbor who hadn't seen me since the end of Sept noticed without me mentioning anything that I'd lost weight. I know this type of thing isn't always appreciated (especially depending on what the person says) but she was very supportive and super nice about it, and it was the first time someone noticed (who didn't know I was doing something) and it felt really good.
@YinxFed Hope your outdoor jaunt was a blast.
Welcome @ob1msu6 -
Happy Day!
We are #1 for both Week 5 and the whole month of April! The official announcements will be posted in a little while, but I just wanted to give us a chance to start feeling GREAT even earlier. Almost 100 pounds gone this month, team! That's almost a whole @sunny9847 ! Of course, we don't want to lose her, so we'll just through those 91.7 pounds out into the compost heap of the world, dig them under, and never see them again.7 -
My name is Matt and I live in Fort Wayne Indiana, @gak71 and I were in another group that started in January and was a 3-month challenge, the group has kind of died out & I saw him post about this group and decided to join. I am divorced and have an 18-year-old and soon-to-be 16-year old that stay with me every other week. Both very active in sports, this time of year is softball and baseball. So that means 5- 6 days of games every week right now. 4-5 days at night after school then Saturday morning early & early afternoon games. So meal planning becomes a challenge for me or if I am having a bad week hit the concession stands that always have healthy food choices.... not. Add to it, I have an hour commute to work each way. So now that I have my normal excuses/crutches out of the way; I am trying to stay physically active and when I have the time and energy on Sundays plan meals and prepare daily snacks for the week.5

Wow, great job in April team! Proud of you all.
I'm basically maintaining at 163 but I've been extremely slack about logging and have been eating at maintenance during weekends as a sort of break. I'm really struggling with burnout and depression lately.

Hello everyone!
My name is Yinka and I'm from Worcestershire, UK. I am married and we have an adult son who lives in Virginia, USA with his wife. We also have an aging, cantankerous little dog called Edie. I work from home teaching English to corporate teams.
I have been with MFP since 2014 and other than an initial surge of weight loss which saw me lose about a stone, nothing much has changed. And I have so much more to lose! I seem to have lost my mojo - I know what I should be doing, but somehow, I don't do it! I've been with Team Waistaways for about 18 months, and I can honestly say that this is a great team, full of supportive individuals.
I work out 5 or 6 times every week, and I am training for a 25 kilometre trek in September (over 19 of London's bridges), so I also go out on timed walks two or three times a week. At the moment I am doing Caroline Girvan's free Epic 1 programme on YouTube. I have also added in SELF's Spring Reset Challenge to throw in a little more low impact cardio.
I am optimistic that I will find a lightbulb moment to re-start my weight loss.
I am delighted to welcome our new team members.
