Met mom early in the morning for a walk at the lake. Dad is travelling for work so hasn't been able to join us. I got my kids registered for fall swim lessons and just double checking we are good to go with kindergarten registration for my son. His open house is next week and then they both start school the week of the 16th. Gonna be so different having them both gone at school during the middle of the day.
Wow, that will be a big change. Will you have enough time for your walks or the elliptical while they are in school? Nice walk with your Mom!mthomas0228 wrote: »lindamtuck2018 wrote: »mthomas0228 wrote: »Daily Check-In For 8/3:
Calories: Within Allotted Range (On Higher End of Range)
Water: 90+ oz.
IF 16/8: Yes, 19 hours fasting
AF: Yes (Day 9 no-alcohol) **I'm not AF all the time, but trying to cut back to only drinking at social events or special occasions. The nightly wine is no good for my calorie count!**
Exercise: Ran 2 miles + Mobility/Yoga Stretching
Great day! A 19 hour fast. Wow! I try to do 16/8 but sometimes I feel my blood sugars drop and I have to cut it short sometimes. How long have you been doing IF?
I've been doing IF for a couple of years now on and off. I've found that it is one of the best tools I have to control that "crazy hungry" feeling that I used to get all the time. A week or two into a solid IF routine and I feel much more in control of my body knowing when it really needs food. I don't skip any meals either, just stagger them out into my available eating window. On a usual day, I start my day around 9 a.m. (up a little bit earlier to oversee my teen daughter going to camp/school etc + get myself ready) and my fasting is over at 11 a.m. So it is really only 2 hours until I can eat. I find that very manageable and then sometimes go an hour or two longer depending on how busy I am.
Maybe start with a 14/10 fast until your body gets acclimated - I find it takes about 2 weeks for me to get into the groove when I restart.
That sounds like a great idea. I will try 14/10 for now. When I do stick to a fasting routine I find my weight loss is better. I like that you don’t skip meals. Do you ever stop doing IF say for a vacation and then ramp up when you get home. I have two trips coming up. Everything will be different. We stay with family members and you have to stick to their meal schedules.1 -

Good morning everyone. Happy chocolate chip cookie day. Please remember to limit it to one handful. Using king kong's hand is ok if you can get him to share.
Check in for 8/3:
Steps - 14787. Good number for me.
Calories - 1700. Had grilled catfish and shared my sides to leave room for kettle corn.
Exercise - 5.78 mile walk in 1:53. It looks like I picked up a passenger since I have found 2 large bug bites since then.
I feel like being lazy today so reading all of your posts is helping me get out there.
Have a wonderful hump day.
P.s. friday is water balloon day, so plan a nice fight with your little monsters or unsuspecting friends and neighbors.
I tried catfish once but I didn’t care for it. I wonder if I would like it grilled. Awesome walk! Maybe I should throw water balloons from the balcony. Good way to get evicted.2 -

I guess I will answer first. By far my best tool is my kitchen scale. I would be lost without it.3 -

My brain... The more effort you put into the lifestyle, the more connections you build across your neurons that eventually sustain said lifestyle. You are the sum of your actions, but first you must decide what your actions will be.5 -

Good morning team! Back on track for a whole day yay! Let’s hope I can keep this up lol. I’ve been working out with a friend of mine and I’m loving it so much. She takes her workouts as seriously as I do and we help each other and give each other tips etc. I enjoy doing it on my own but I also love spending this time with her. We are so likeminded and love to push each other and always promise to go all the way to the end. No quitting.
I’ve also been enjoying making my own bagels here at home with a skinnytaste recipe. So easy to make and my whole family loves them. I’ll post a photo and link here if you are interested.
Those bagels look so good!!!!3 -

No increase this week...woohoo!! I returned to working in the office on monday...short lived as we were sent back home within a couple of hours. But I had already preplanned & made our lunches & dinner as I figured the first week back would be exhausting. So it's been great to just grab stuff & warm it up this week. I might have to keep this going. Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!5 -

Monday got my strength workout in and a short walk. Steps yesterday were from taking the kids to a water park. It wasn’t a super sunny day so it wasn’t any busy which was nice.

Good Evening my friends... 😋
Chest, Triceps and Shoulders.... 💪
The rehab plan seems to be working, I'm able to do more work successfully at generally lower weight but I'm hitting higher reps counts hopefully still building strength and endurance. And with some luck giving whatever busted in my shoulder/arm a chance to fix itself.
Oh and no more 1 arm workout business... Two hands on deck for everything starting today.
And as long as the pain stays away, I'm just going to keep going up 5 pounds a week on bench till I get back to where I was, and just go to failure hitting as many reps as I can.... And a similar story with fly's but only going up by 2.5 per week...
I also found what does hurt today... I decided to add Ez Bar Skull Crushers back to the roster today, but lucky for me I decided add a warmup set at just 40 pounds... And thank goodness I did because that turned out to be uncomfortable, so I decided to stay at 40 and do 2 more work sets. (It did feel better with each set though). 👍
Overall, I feel like I'm still progressing and growing stronger. So, Yahoo.... lol
The workout...
DB Flat Bench Press (Till I can't do anymore)
37.5LB x 25 (Warm up Set)
45LB x 20
45LB x 20
45LB x 19 (Going up to 50LB next week) 👍
No pain... Great!
Seated Overhead DB Shoulder Press (3 x 8-12)
37.5LB x 11
37.5LB x 12
37.5LB x 11 (Going up to 40lb next week) 👍
The shoulder press is the at full weight, no slacking off here as it just feels almost normal. 🙂
Incline DB Fly's (Till I can't do anymore)
25LB x 20
25LB x 22
25LB x 20 (Going up to 27.5LB next week)
Not much discomfort... Good!
Flat Bench EZ Bar Skull Crushers
40LB x 15 (This was very uncomfortable)
40LB x 20 (More comfortable)
40LB x 20 (Even more comfortable) (Going up to 45lb Next week)
Seems the first set loosened me up a lot and I was much more comfortable after that... Great burn on the triceps too. But I do need to be mindful of moving up to quickly as it does hurt a bit. Still a good way away from 57.5LB where I was. 😛
Standing Ez Bar Overhead Extensions
37.5LB x 20
37.5LB x 22 (40 next week)
DB Lateral Raises - Front, side and Back
15lb x 15 front
15lb x 15 side
15lb x 15 back
Honestly, I'm not sure I like this lateral front / side / back business..... Any expert advice? erg.
And that is that.... Another 2000 Calorie Exercise burn day in the books.
We hung the Heavy Bag at the end of the session, and I'll be hitting the bag in the morning. (That's the highest spike in heart rate of the entire session... Just take a peak for yourself. lol)
Unfortunately, I don't know if my Fitbit has enough batterie power to capture the event... I guess we will find out. But I should have a new charger in my hands by tomorrow afternoon, so not to bad. 😄
Kay I better get going it's already 8:45 and I got dishes to do yet... Sheesh!
Good night everyone! 🤗🤗🤗

Checking in...
Good day yesterday. I took the kids to see Jungle Cruise, and was a little worried about the popcorn. I’ve found if I don’t let myself have treats then I tend to binge. We got the smallest size popcorn and shared it. Good weigh in this morning—whew!
8/3 steps: 11,285.
Do I need to do anything to join the step challenge?4 -

Just back from a week long vacation. Did a lot of hikes and ate some junk. We had long, active days. Went white water rafting, hiking, swimming in freezing cold swimming holes, saw waterfalls, went horseback riding, kids went zip lining, etc. We also saw six bears including a baby bear on a hiking trail at dusk. It was a great trip.
Now, back at home, I'm feeling overwhelmed and stressed with lots to do. I'm exhausted. My mom did well taking care of herself while I was gone. Unfortunately, she had a fall last night and hurt her hip, knee and ankle. Covid numbers have surged here lately, so she is staying away from people as much as possible, so we'll see if she starts to feel better in the next few days. If not, I'll have to take her for x-rays.
It is scary to know that the scale goes up so easily. When I am home and things are fairly routine, I do so well. When I am super busy, out of town, taking care of others away from my house, etc. it is incredibly difficult. I will never give up though! That's the difference now. So, as always, thanks to all of you for being here and keep on keepin' on!6 -
Daily check in
8/3 steps 11,394 (will post 8/4 tomorrow)
Stayed in my calorie goal for today (8/4) which is a big success since I woke up in the middle of the night last night starving and ate two cookies. Luckily, no more cookies in the house now... I was going to go to the gym but had to take a call after work instead. Work is stressing me out. Any one else struggle with balancing ambition with work/life balance?
For dinner I made Migas -- my first time making it. Turned out amazing with lots of tomatoes, hot sauce, and some goat cheese on top with a side of black beans.
Tomorrow I am hoping to get to Body Pump class... Fingers crossed I can get to the gym in time after a doc appt.6
