Amazing progress! Congratulations on being almost halfway to goal. I have been gone from this site a bit ... did you ever get an answer to the reason for your dizziness and lightheadedness? Are you starting to feel better yet?2 -
@mari_moulin Ah... Thank you. I'm feeling a little stronger each week.mthomas0228 wrote: Β»

Trigger foods... I'd have to imagine any refined sugar or carb load would get the ole insulin spikes and hunger a callling. We haven't missed a beat in 6 months, so no sense tempting ourselves now right? But I would love some pistachios too... Unfortunately that's a higher carb nut that I don't partake in. :P2

I have decided to up the weight on my home gym to 20lbs... I had been on 10lbs since using it ....I think I will stay at 20lbs for about 3 weeks then go to 30lbs...I just have to remember to listen to my body and not over do it ... I am prone to hurting myself which I do not want to be taken out of commission again ...I will be careful4

I have allowed myself to have one serving of most of my trigger foods there fore taking away the trigger because I can have it. I know that sounds crazy but it worked for me.

Feeling on top of the world this week even though I did tweek my elbow but actually doing a headstand push up un assisted was awesome!!! Also breaking my personal best on legs has me in a INVINCIBLE state of mind. Hopefullu the doms won't have me tomorrow in just die mode. Crossfit in the morning. I did take a rest day yesterday instead of barre due to my elbow. Today I just can't turn a door knob. So I should be able to Crossfit tomorrow.
@lindamtuck2018 Aerial is fun and a great relaxing stretch but it builds core and really works the abs. We enjoyed it so much that when covid struck my hubby took the spare room and turned it into an aerial studio. One of the ways I kept my sanity. We have a 18 ft high swing set outside for my daughter to practice on, but I love the indoor studio he built.5 -

Wasn't sure what I was gonna do for exercise while I went about my day, but my parents took care of it haha. Dad got back from travelling early evening and wanted to walk so I met them out at the lake after dinner.
Right now I'm drinking coffee and then I'm heading out to a consignment sale that's close by that I go to every year. I really need to find clothes for my son for when the weather turns cold again, as well as a winter coat.
Nice to have your parents as walking partners. Great day! A consignment sale sounds like fun. Plus you will get exercise walking around looking.Steps

Got to the gym yesterday and struggled through the workout. But I did it. And my instructor mentioned I looked like I was getting fitter. Which was super nice! Pretty exhausted after bad sleep last night. I've hit my 3x gym classes for the week. Trying to decide if I am going to go again on Saturday or just use that morning for a long walk. I've been meaning to check out the wildflowers in the trails in my neighborhood...
Anyway, love reading everyone's updates! Happy Friday!
That is awesome the instructor noticed. I love looking at flowers when walking. My friend that walks with me is very knowledgeable about different plants so it is nice to know the names.Good morning.

It is what it is ... I am not too upset about the gain since I am just getting back to my exercise routine ...
@lindamtuck2018 ... I am still a newbie when it comes to weights ... my machine is a total body workout ...right now I am finding it boring but that is only because I am not use to it and I am one of those that likes to be on the move ... I am sure it will grow on me as I get more familiar with it ...Today is one of those days that I will get more familiar with it
You have the right attitude! I am still pouting about my gain. Maybe it could have been from the increase in exercise for me too. I know without a doubt you will be an expert in the machine very quick. You are determined and I donβt think there isnβt much that you canβt do.UN: azkunk

Sorry for the gain this week. I am not surprised but it did bump a little higher, so I am glad that it settled back down a bit. This week went OK. Since Sunday, I missed tracking only one day and hit my step goal 4 of the past 7 days.
Goals for next week:
Nutrition: stay under calories and focus on protein
Hydration: 80 oz/day
Exercise: 5000 steps/ day and row 2 times
Never apologize for a gain. Love the way you are building on your goals.I have allowed myself to have one serving of most of my trigger foods there fore taking away the trigger because I can have it. I know that sounds crazy but it worked for me.

Looks like a lot of you have found ways to deal with your trigger foods.
I have a lot of trigger foods but potato chips by far are the most troublesome. I find if I have a small serving at night it prevents binges. I weigh and bag them into individual servings. My hubby puts them on a shelf I canβt reach and gets one for me each night. Good thing I am a shorty. π€·ββοΈ2 -

Thanks Linda ....we are doing the right thing for our bodies by exercising ...You are doing awesome ....You aren't bingeing much anymore.... Hubby and I are going on a walk tonight after he gets off work...the heat has increased so it's very early morning or late evening walks for me!!
Thanks for all the support β€...I can't believe the steps I'm getting in this week!!!3 -
Being back in this group has already inspired me to exercise. You guys are killing it! So, I dusted off the rower and did my first rowing workout since 6/1. I also rowed longer and further than any previous row. That was mostly due to a challenge with the video but I hung in there.
Itβs good to be back. Thank you for the inspiration π7 -
@azkunk they think it's orthostatic hypotension. I am hopefully getting compression socks, told to eat more salt and wiggle my feet when standing. If it doesn't help then they will look at meds.
@Megan_smartiepants1970 pistachios are a danger for me. I was eating one while reading your post. I will grab 1 for me when I give the rats 1. I know a serving is 50 nuts so I won't log one.
I am still looking at getting a shirt made but it will be about 25 bucks to do the lettering. Maybe I will get the crafting gal paint and hand make it.2 -
What are my trigger foods? Like many here, chips and nuts. When I started I couldn't have them in the house. I started having cravings as my daughter would bring them in for herself. I started breaking them down into single servings as soon as they came in. Then I would put them in the bottom of the pantry and forget about them. Having memory problems helps a lot. Now I am comfortable with them here. I have some in the pantry now that have survived 3 months. At my worst they wouldn't see 3 hours.2
-
My trigger is anything sweet. I need to avoid them so that my body doesnβt crave them. I am in the process of cutting back the sugar by substituting iced tea sweetened with Splenda when I get my afternoon craving.3

Almost back on track now - doing C210K (week 2), personal training is going really well (once a week) and I'm back to swimming. Trying to incorporate vegan days, anyone else a HUGE fan of fake meat? Like Impossible burger etc? So nice! My steps are also coming in nicely. Fingers crossed

Baked items are a big trigger for me! I like to bake but if I make a cake or pie or cookies.... I can't help but finish them off. So I'm trying to only bake when I can bring it in to work. I also really like to bake with fruit in the summer so I convince myself that a nice ricotta cake slice with a whole peach is a legit breakfast.
Also. I love wine + cheese plate! And nuts can be dangerous.
I don't struggle too much with chips. But crackers and boxes of cookies should not be in my house because I'll plow right through.2 -
Man 17 posts since my last visit... I'll have to try and catch up later I got me some sleep to get. But @tahm42 Super impressive workout... And congrats on the PR that is huge considering we aren't quite spring chickens anymore. So YEAH!!! Fantastic! And thanks for the compliment. hehe
I have a rough plan in my head that when I get down to about 350LB I'm either going to flip the hex bar around and pull from the standard height (meaning my *kitten* will need to go down lower)... And or start adding squats back in. My early adventures in squats a few months back showed me I'm just a little too front heavy. And as a result I couldn't really do any weight at all. But someday I will be squating again.
FYI.. About 15 maybe 16 years ago now... I was bench 380 pound 1 rep max... Squating 450+ pounds for 3 or 4 reps, and 700LB+ Dead lifts with a regular straight bar for reps. I don't suspect I'll ever get back there, but That's okay too.
The day in review.... π€
Alright so I might have been feeling a little guilty sometime just before noon for doing only a half a session of cardio this morning. That or I felt bad Lynn was on fire this morning, a verifiable take no *kitten*, amazon woman, kicking *kitten* and taking names (Major props to you babeπ)... While I was skimming by doing the very minimum. lol
So, I went for a little walk at work... Nothing much, just down to the lake attached to our business property, then back to the shop and around the yard, and back. But it was enough of a bump me back up to 550-600 exercises calories on the day. Not to bad... No viking warrior but hey. π
LEG DAY!!!
As always going into leg day freaks me out. I actually ended up choking a little bit immediately before I start a Set of Dead lifts. I get phlegm caught in my throat and want to gag all caused by some weird anxiety regarding what's about to happen. Lynn thinks I might of started smoking again, and I'm like no I'm just freaked out. Wierd? I don't know maybe. ππ
So, I made a rookie mistake tonight... π« And I was a bit upset about it at the time because I knew it hurt my chances for a good round of Dead Lifts. 3 reps into my first working set of Deadlifts, I realized something was wrong and on the 4th one I realized what it was. I complete forgot to wrap my knee's. This took away from my confidence as I could feel discomfort in my left knee, I didn't want to be as explosive and well it just meant I wasn't focusing 100% on the lift while worrying way to much about my knees.
Thankfully with the wraps on the second and third set were both much better than the week before... And I think I could of hit 9 on that final set if I didn't chicken out. Seems I was having hard time holding the bar and I might loose grip on the bar if I pushed for that 9th rep... Oddly enough I also forgot both my rings on my hand tonight, didn't realize till the work out was done. Probably didn't help. lol π€¦ββοΈππ€π
All in all, a very successful workout. ππ
You can skip the to the end if you don't really care about the numbers. π
Hex Bar Dead Lifts (3 x 6 - 10)
Warm up 160LB x 15 reps
260LB x 6 reps (Knee wraps... Knee Wraps... Knee Wraps)
260LB x 9 reps ππ More then I managed in any set last week.
260LB x 8 reps (2 more in my final set then last week)
Going up to 265 next week just because I think I did good enough to move up, but not good enough to move up 10lb. If I have grip issues next week with my rings off, then I'll consider using straps or hooks the week after. π€π
Leg Extensions (3 x 8 - 12)
160lb x 12
160lb x 12
160lb x 12
I did great and I'm improving, but I'm going to stay here for a bit, after about the 8th rep I find I'm using too much English and probably leveraging my lower back to get the weight up almost lifting my *kitten* off the bench. Instead of using just my quads like I should be. I'll try to slow things, see how it goes.
Leg Curls (3 x 8 - 12)
100LB x 12 - Did great... Surprised myself. Granted I had a few small pauses.
100LB x 11
100LB x 10 - Good to about 8... When the power goes on these you die quick. Blah. π
I'll stay here another week, but I surely improved.
Hex Bar Shrugs (2 x 15)
230LB x 15
230LB x 15
Going 240lb next time - Although it doesn't seem like I'm getting much movement on those last 2 or 3 reps. π
Calf Raises (2 x 15) Super Set with Shrugs
BW+arm push x 15
BW+arm push x 15
One day far in the future... I'd like to figure a way to do this without the arm push and using more known weights. Maybe bands wrapped around one of the big safety bars and looped around the hex bar while I stand on the Safety bar? But for now I'm happy with this.
I know all in all it doesn't seem like a huge workout.... But taking out the Trap bar, loading it, unloading it... While setting up Lynn's Bar for squats, then setting up the bench with the leg curl machine, and swapping plates between every set etc. It's a pretty long workout, and the swapping of plates and setup burns Calories. lol
Conclusion... Now I can finally say the weekend is here, and I can relax. lol
Also, my "Spot Grips" I ordered 4 weeks ago are finally shipping tomorrow (A Saturday of all days?) this thing is pretty cool. But I'll do pictures and explain why it's so cool when they get here. But it's all about safety and attempting to ensure I don't hurt myself using Dumbbells in the future. (Let's hope anyway).
Alrighty, I'm good... Have a fabulous night Everyone. It's almost my bed time. lol (Good night)π€π€π€

I was stoked to see this tonight, especially after a couple weeks of losing very slowly!
That puts me at over 80lbs lost! I'm FINALLY starting to see/feel it. For a VERY long time I watched the scale go down, but couldn't really tell in the mirror or how I felt. Just recently I'm starting to feel better and recognize myself. What a relief! I still have issues and almost 30lbs to go, but I'm really happy to feel like I'm coming back.9 -

Also leg day.... So DOH! ππ€¦ββοΈ
Alright I'll be the first to admit it this morning.... Lynn actually woke up earlier than normal to unleash the beast on that exercise room. I *kitten* you not. She was a crazed exercise Lunatic on the loose. π€
Whereas I, pretty much planned to take it easy this morning, although I didn't tell anyone. Lol. It's Leg day, I worked hard the previous 4 days, thus I basically did a half session. But I did do it hard, in fact my legs were going so fast at one point, I feared I would lose them. π Taking it a bit easy today makes it way more likely I'll throw in a 6th cardio session this weekend, so I'll see what I can do. π And with any luck, I'll have a great leg workout later. π
Anyways, I was quite aware of how well Lynn was pushing through her cycle. She didn't miss a beat, and marched directly from one station to the other and didn't stop the entire time (Her cycle in the photo below, Trampoline, Steps, and Ab Booster Plus). And that is saying something, cause that Ab Booster thing isn't easy, and when she first got it, she was lucky to work for 1 minute on it before being completely done.... Wow, what progress she has made. She has every right to be super proud of herself this morning. Jill's morning message "Don't stop until your extremely proud of yourself", really rang true and her ears. π I'm proud of her too, she kicked my *kitten* this morning. π
Ok time to Flex Friday.... Now bear in mind, I'm still a little shy, and I'm not ready to unveil my Thighs, Calves, Back, and god no on my stomach probably ever. lol. So, you're going to get tired of seeing my biceps.... But here it is, and for added measure, I got some triceps poking out from under there too. πππ₯³ππ€π
Have an amazing day folks... I'll catch up with all you amazing people at work shortly. ππ€π€π€
wow i want your gym in my house! and look at those guns ...you inspire me in this journey!1
