Insane back to school season. I have been getting 15,000 steps a day and eating less. I am sure it will even out in a week or two.
Fall is my favorite season. I love seeing the leaves change, cold mornings, fall decorations, green chile, and hot air balloons. And I love teaching about apples and pumpkins.💕
@eggfreak I love zucchini and it my favorite for the kids. I chop it up and add it to soups and muffins. BUT I couldn't keep up with the squash bugs this year so I only got a few.5 -
I went a little overboard this weekend and my activity has gone down a little I think...not getting discouraged though! I just have to be more mindful

@DD265 your pork dish sounds AMAZING! I need to bust out my slow cooker this fall when we're back in the office... will be nice to come home to a warm meal
Great loss @KellyBgetsfit and good observations @AshenMoon Still great progress for this month overall so glad you're not getting discouraged.. you got this!1 -
Hi!
I have had some really rough PMS and my scale is up 5 lbs. So 😥 sad. I have had a few days of migraines, not sleeping well and feeling so tired. I think my hormones are starting to change. Feeling better today so I am making an effort to have a good food and exercise day. Yesterday was good for calories and exercise but dinner felt overindulgent. One of the kids has been begging for waffles for dinner. We had waffles, bacon, whipped cream, blueberries and cherries.
@Kali225 I hear you on the keeping busy thing. I had pretty much given up my indoor sitting hobbies to increase my exercise. Now when we get stuck inside there is nothing to do. I might need to start sewing again!4 -

Together, the five of us walked 409,139 steps or 193.7 miles.
@YinxFed has her amazing 25K (🥰) London Bridges Trek coming up... which if our step team were a relay it would have taken on average three of us to complete based on our team's daily average (which puts into perspective how great of a walk that's going to be for her!!)
Great job as always team, we had injuries and vacations and back to work and other personal challenges mixed in, so pat yourselves on the back for a great start to August! Every step counts!

This is a tough one - I love to sew, but sitting for the hours it takes feels wrong now! It is another one of those "find the balance" issues. Dang, there are a lot of those...
I made my first polenta pie of the season for dinner tonight. I make a very thin cornmeal crust and fill it with a blend of swiss chard and any other vegetables that come in for the day, herbs, and chickpeas, then top with a bit of cheese and bake it. I love this dish and freeze squares of it to have for lunches or quick meals all through the year. This was a particularly good one. Happy tummies in the house
Once again, the time is flying by - here are the reminders for tonight - everyone due up through Thursday:

Did the step report and then felt inspired to get out for an evening walk! Gotta love that3 -
Greetings Friends!
Is anyone else having problems with MFP's home page feed?
All I can see are ads and MFP blogs!
Maybe it will behave on my desktop.
I'll check in later.0 -

That sounds yummy - what does a cornmeal crust include - an egg to hold it together?

@YinxFed I don't really use the home page at all, so I haven't noticed I'm afraid. I do hate how slow the ads make the app/site though it hasn't been enough to get me paying for premium.
@ashleycarole86 it was quite nice. Maybe not my favourite flavours (I like honey and chilli or BBQ best!) but we'll definitely make it again. It was quite a high calorie dish at ~500 calories plus noodles, but it felt like a nicely balanced meal.
We didn't run this morning, as my friend has had a couple of bad nights sleep. I did wake up but opted to stay in bed as we went upstairs late last night; the perils of cross stitch! I may run this evening, or we might walk as I have a long run planned tomorrow afternoon. Our weekend plans have expanded a bit; as well as breakfast and dinner out on Saturday (plus whatever we do for lunch...), we're going out for dinner tomorrow too. We have loyalty points to use up, so we're having a date night and going to the cinema afterwards. I'm not sure yet when we'll fit the supermarket in, but I will meal plan after work tonight just in case. We also want to head over to the outlet (~30 minute walk/5 min drive) to see if we can't get FIL more creme eggs, so there's quite a lot to squeeze in.
Between time constraints and all the meals out, I'm not sure how my weigh in on Monday is going to be. If I can keep moving, and drink a lot, hopefully I can push things in the right direction. I'll try to keep calorie intake a little lower today and Sunday to compensate.1 -

Just cornmeal, water, and a bit of salt. Then some olive oil in the pan and lightly on top of the mush - baked at 375 for about 40 minutes before adding the filling and baking it some more. It gets very crispy and tastes amazing.2 -
Happy Thursday!
I hope you are all having a perfectly planned, excellently executed, delightful day. I'm just working on having at least one thing to check off on my habit tracker today - this hot muggy weather is doing me in!2 -

I repeat: 179.6. Yay! My weight'll dance across the line again, I suspect, just knowing how liquids fluxuate, etc., but I'm feeling more encouraged by this little drop into the next lower "decade". I've been struggling to get ample exercise during this horrendous humidity blast. It's really awful! I sure hope it's cooler in 2 weeks during recuperation from surgery. I want to be able to take walks...slowly, perhaps, but getting outside will be good for my digestion if nothing else. I used to work with my surgeon (as a secretary in the Ortho-dept) and he didn't recognize my name (changed it when I re-married) but fortunately, he remembered me! I guess I was a big enough pain in the butt to be on *that* list.
My aging "laptop" has become a "desktop" model because it konks out when I unplug it. It's even started to konk out when it's "asleep". Hmmmm. It's too expensive to have the battery replaced (it was refurbished in 2009 when I bought it from Small Dog Electronics). I love my mac, though. With any luck, Em will be able to make a good recommendation that I can afford (or not).
I'll try to get on here during the weekend. I'll go to a birthday party for a short while to touch base with a newly returned friend who had been in California for the past 8+ years. If we need to stay inside, I'll probably not go, since surgery is coming up soon, etc.

I'm back! Or so I hope!
Sorry I know I'm not very active here. Been a rough few months. But the thought of going back face-to-face with my training and seeing clients (mental health) has spurred me into coming back. + I have recruited my sister to weight loss. She's 13 years younger than me so I feel I need to set a good example.
I hope I don't fall back into old habits of giving up at the first hurdle.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.5 -

Hi everyone! I'm back home. I hear you all on the heat. Well, more precisely the wet bulb temp. We have had very high readings in the 70 and that puts our heat index consistently over 100 degrees. ugh. I jokingly said yesterday, now I know how we all die. Sad not funny really, but this is incredible heat.
Eating was weird while away. Cooking at someone else's house is a challenge. I did ok but there was some fast food because we still are not eating in restaurants. I had delicious fresh caught scallops twice!!!! That was my treat. So easy to make and calories are great. Truth be told after a crazy hot walk in a Carnivous Garden, we stopped at Dairy Queen and I had a Blizzard, which I haven't had in years.
My weight is definitely up. Man, I HATE seeing that 2 at the beginning of my weight again. Now, I need to get serious and take care of that.
@ashleycarole86 It's funny that you asked the question about summer/winter. I have historically done worse with my weight in the summer. I guess we eat too many snacks and drinks. Although I don't drink very often. Ice cream. It's ice cream too. Anyway, I have always been more successful at weight loss leading into fall and through the winter. I'm weird I know because many others find that harder. So, here I am just over 200 again. Time to rein in the calories and get that going down again.
@jugar The Polenta Pie sounds fabulous. Must try. My garden is a bust between animals and this high heat, nothing is surviving.
@KellyBgetsfit (and @conleywoods ) hugs to you both as you start another school year. I know how tired THAT start of the school year is.
Did almost 14 minutes of Pilates with a roller this am. Also did some while I was away, but oh those kittens I was watching tore my mat up!!! Will try to get a walk in sometime today when it's not ridiculously hot out.
Here's a photo of the garden. Venus Fly Traps only grow naturally in a 100 mile radius of Wilmington, NC where I was staying. Very cool.

@jugar My weigh in day is falling at a terrible time of the month for me. I am up 5lbs at the moment and it will level out in a few days. Can I skip my weigh in this week? It will look like I dropped a ton of weight next week if I don't. I have had several months in a row when I have dodged the big water weight day but it finally caught me this month. I still really hate seeing the scale jump like that. So hard.2

Happy Friday all!
The heat has returned to Alberta today after a few cooler ones... we still haven't really had any rain but the breeze was nice.
Stay safe in the heat all, nothing to mess around with.. especially the mention of wet bulb, yikes!
Busy day here, managed to pop out for my first 20 minute walk at lunch so I got some steps behind me. I imagine Brad and I will go for a bike ride tonight, but if I miss it I'll do another walk instead.
@micki48 welcome back, scallops are my absolute fav.. sounds delish!!!2
