Need to come back and change today's 3 yeses to a Pass Day. I gave in to a trigger that I've successfully fought off for 8 days but got the best of me when I was idle last night. So the positive is that overall 'm learning how to handle stress better. I also have learned to measure success by how quickly I turn this around. So onwards and upwards today. Gotta get that dopamine going to replace the comfort binge eating used to give me!6 -
@Jana_2020 - your post is 200% correct. 1 - exercise improves our mood and helps deal with stress, and 2 - energy begets energy. This is an issue I go around and around about with my husband and I will never convince him. It breaks my heart, makes me mad, and causes me anguish all at the same time because his quality of life suffers and his mobility gets worse and worse. I love him dearly and am balancing being respectful of his wishes while also doing the tough love thing which honestly gets me nowhere. We’ve gotten to the point where I’ll be taking some vacations without him which feels selfish but he understands, or at least says he does.
We live on the east side of Lake Michigan, which is like living on the ocean and is beautiful, but which also means winter is nothing but grey day after grey day. I don’t mind the snow, it’s the constant grey that gets depressing. When I’m outside I focus on the feel of the fresh air on my face and how good that feels. And @WhatMeRunning is right in that it’s all about wearing the right clothing. It’s no fun being cold and it takes a while to figure out temps and wind chill and how many layers to wear and still feel good. I intend to bike through the winter and am already working on the right combination of layers.6 -
Pass day 1/3. Not that it was a bad day, but I have 4 grandkids for the weekend and we ordered pizza for dinner. I know I ate too many slices.5

@Katiecan2021 – some days you just need to unwind!
@vero2468 – family time is a good reason for a pass day
@Jana_2020 – it’s good that you are working on those aspects that are difficult
2 -
@biketheworld – family time with little ones is an great reason for a pass.
I find that my hands and feet get especially cold on a bike, I believe you can get overshoes that help to protect your toes?

Thanks for bringing that up. I was thinking of wearing heavy socks but shoe covers make a lot more sense. Already googling it!2 -

Can’t stay away from community too long. And not enough to write down food, might need to take pictures and/or actually log along the way. Seeing it in real time is awesome.
