Wow - 1 pound to go to reach a lower BMI class. You go, ABD!

Hi, Bella! You go girl - you are so close to that "normal/healthy" BMI. Though I don't 100% buy that whole system, it still feels good to get to the next level.

I hear you, Connie. Feeling how much harder it is to get out of bed 30 pounds up (without using my arm to push off with) has been a real eye opener. How in the world did I carry all those extra pounds! More so than hot momma looks, I want to drop these 50 pounds for my poor hips/knees/feet and back (so far they aren't complaining, but they will eventually!)

@psychod787, I have to call you Psycho for short - can't resist that (unless that would not sit well with you). Wow. What a journey you have been on! Glad you are here with us - I could use some of the wisdom/knowledge/systems you must have gained along the way.

Day 5 of my countdown :) Yesterday was a tough one. I think the hamsters are on to me!

    20220104 - 33
    20220105 - 30
    20220106 - 28
    20220107 - 26
    20220108 - 26

Ma'am, you can call me anything you like, except late for dinner. Real name is Dalon. I am glad to be here as well. My...errrr... adventure has been a downhill, then an uphill battle. I would be happy to share anything I have learned.

@psychod787 are you trying to stay up, come down a bit, or are you relatively indifferent?

How are you doing with the cinder blocks in the driveway, or are you now back to "normal" gym equipment, or have you cut down a bit?

Just looking for that "sweet" spot, no pun untended. Yep Alec, I've been back with "real" equipment for about 18 months. I live in Florida, and we un-shutdown pretty quick. I also have completed a modest home gym. Lots of hand me downs and sales I found. Cinder blocks were effective, but killer when I dropped them!

Back from a month long hiatus..and things could have been a lot worse weight wise. Well they were...but mostly in my head it seems. The scale seems to be happier.

    Age: 41
    Height: 166cm - 5'5''
    SW: 177.8 kg - 392 lb - 64.5 ΒΜΙ (May 2020)
    GW: 68.7 kg - 151.5 lb - 24.9 ΒΜΙ

    LW: 88.2 kg - 194.4 lb - 32.0 ΒΜΙ (18 Dec '21)
    CW: 86.7 kg - 191.1 lb - 31.5 ΒΜΙ
    Variance: -1.5 kg / -3.3 lb / -1.70% TBW (28 days)

    OL: 91.1 kg - 200.8 lb - 33.1 BMI - 51.2% TBW in 638 days

    Weight class projections:
    Obese class II: Reached - 21.05.2021 - 401 days.
    Obese class I: Reached - 25.09.2021 - 526 days.
    Overweight: 4.2 kg - 9.3 lb - 29 days.
    Normal: 18.0 kg - 39.6 lb - 126 days.

A curious milestone passed, 200lb overall loss. We don't use pounds here so it doesn't seem like one...on the other hand though I'll take anything I can get lol. :)

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays, and wishing a happy new year to all. Onwards!

@psychod787 I can only say that dropping a cinderblock on one's foot would be counterproductive!

    That's amazing!!! :open_mouth:

Ah thanks..well the thing is..I overate during Christmas and New Years, so then I was feeling pretty guilty and proceeded to...not really have a diet break. :D

Didn't log but upped my physical exercise considerably (I had vacation time these days). Before I weighed today, I thought I had actually gained, but fortunately that was not the case.

In May 2019 at my highest weight I was in Obese Class 3 which they called morbid obesity at that time. As of today, I am in Obese Class 1 which they label as low-risk obesity now. I am amazed at how far I have come. I have lost 40 pounds since then and am so much closer to my goals. When I lose about 34 more pounds, then I can say I am just overweight. LOL

    Good work, Bella!

I was up again today for the second day in a row. No reason - food has been under sedentary maintenance, and I have been walking 2x day - not long walks but hitting 10,000 steps. Not going to sweat it - but it doesnot give the same glow as a drop or even staying the same.

Blah. It always sucks when "you do the right things" and the scale doesn't reflect it.

But, and that's a big but, to avoid a substantially bigger butt 🙀, you don't just do the right things for scale rewards and you (hopefully) build trust in the process that IF you ARE, indeed, doing "the right things the overwhelming majority of the time", the scale levels will eventually reflect t that.

In your case Laurie 33 to 25 in 10 days is not minor and a good portion would HAVE to be water weight unless you're managing 2500 Cal a day deficits, which would be ... a bit intense I think.

In any case: sharp drop, apparent stall, then dropping weight at closer to expected rate given size of deficit seems to be a common pattern!

Get rid of things that rhyme with Ovid and all will be good! 😹😘

Glad to seen you, Joone! You did so well over the holidays - that is a major accomplishment that many of us wish we had managed :)
199 is just around the corner in the context of your journey. Where are you going in February?

Thank you for the pep talk, PAV. I'm not really too disturbed - the "disappointment" faded in just a few minutes. That big C is just about gone I think. This is a lovely little version of the virus. Hope it has left me OMNIPOTENT :)

Lauriekallas, sorry to hear you are struggling with the virus, not fun. I’m impressed you are still keeping active and on plan.

I’m heading out to Dominican Republic (taking all safety precautions and insured out of my ying yang)with my middle son (age 12) as it’s our mom/son trip that was unfortunately canceled last year (due to covid and my cancer diagnosis and treatment). Was okay with going last fall when I booked it until the new strain took front so now I worry more but if I learned anything this past year..it’s that time is precious with my kids so I’m no longer willing to put things on hold as I may not be here next year! (This includes sticking with getting healthy and working to a good weight🙂)

Good job ABD. How fast is your trend moving?

Laurie what kind of deficit are you targeting? 500?
  • lauriekallis
    lauriekallis Posts: 4,770 Member
PAV - I'm just trying to keep a deficit at this point. Any deficit. Loosely aiming at 1650 calories a day - but trying to stay cool about it all so I don't go all wingy. These past few days walking has been way down so 1650 calories a day will give me somewhere near 300-400 calorie deficit. More walking - higher deficit - and I might perhaps eat more? Trying not to be hungry - but to eat wisely.

Laurie your plan seems solid enough and workable! Especially the "wisely" part.

ABD @Americanbabydoll you're doing an excellent job so far, woohoo!

    And the first few months (I believe it is usually considered--as a general average--the first 5 or 6 months) people can often push a bit harder than they can push longer term without too many side effects;

Of course, with a lot of weight to lose, the game lasts years not months!

I don't know your previous history with diets and such. And what may have contributed to you discontinuing managing your weight in the past.

I did sort of notice your January numbers, and you confirmed it based on your trending app. And the quick spreadsheet I just did also confirms it.

So I am just letting you know that your numbers are saying that you're increasing your effective deficit as you're moving along. This may be something you're doing consciously, or something you're doing unconsciously.

If unconsciously, you may want to start considering the total size of your deficit as a percent of your TDEE and at what % levels you may want to manage that at moving forward.
