Hopefully the downward trend will continue before the next hormonally-motivated stall (🤣😝), I've been stuck for a couple weeks. It's nice to see the numbers finally dropping again!4 -

I had my first week with a weight gain since I started back on my "get healthy" journey this year. I knew it would come eventually. I've been at the same weight plus or minus a pound for almost 3-weeks now. I have increased my water intake significantly so that may have something to do with it. I've been sticking to my calorie goals and exercising at least 5 days a week. I think I'm going to start paying more attention to my other macros and sodium intake and see if perhaps that will kick my metabolism back in gear.
In the meantime, I am not going to be discouraged! I've been here before and have given up when I was working hard and not seeing the scale move. I'm not going to do that this time. I know it is a process and a marathon.. not a sprint. This too shall pass. I just have to find the right combination of food and exercise to get me where I need to be. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Age 40? You may best be served by comparing to the same point in your previous cycle as hormonal weight changes can easily amount to anywhere from nothing to 7+lbs with 3-5lbs probably being more common...
Weightgrapher.com which I didn't like as much as trendweight due to "advice" given, used to have a feature to visually compare to an arbitrary number of days before.

Thanks, @PAV8888 I just checked out weightgrapher.com and according to the trend chart I was on a slightly downward trend until Feb 4th and it has been a straight line ever since. I didn't see any noticeable upward gains around the same point in my previous cycle, but then again I was just starting over on eating healthy/exercising and I was losing like 2+ pounds a week at that point. I will also check out trendweight. Thank you for the suggestions.2 -
Don't know if you did it but weightgrapher should allow you to superimpose the graph from 28 days ago over your current graph so that you can compare the same points of the cycle to each other 28 days apart
All trend apps will more or less end up showing regularly occurring inflection points I guess!
Trendweight is convenient for me because of Fitbit, but could be less suitable than for example Libra for Android which allows people to adjust how many days are taken into account.
In the end of course we just keep going and adjusting! And no we don't stop trying! 👍3 -

Love how low key and consistent you are ABD. Everyweek. Lower "CW" ! Good for you!3

So.... the "bad" news is that if I were looking at this stock... I would be pegging it as likely to keep increasing steadily, if un-spectacularly.
The good news is... well, it ain't a total *kitten*show. But it hasn't been ideal since the initial lock-down "rock bottom" lows in the summer of 2020.
There IS a bit of a complication in that the numbers come from two different scales at two different locations.
But, essentially finding myself at 2016 levels--where I was when I was finishing initial weight loss--is NOT my idea of ideal...
Looks as if I should maybe give it a bit of a go to try to settle at slightly lower numbers.... hmm.... lack of sleep and stress end up with me, yeah... we know where that ends up. And yes, the seesaw has to change a bit to longer downs and shorter ups!
And does anyone else see the classic yo-yo at the end of the summer of 2020 when I combined a recent loss with additional "issues". Everything "lost" + a bit, on the controlling hamster failure!2 -
But still, PAV - wow - that is a remarkably stable graph and look how it is coming down now!2
-
Tippy bottom 149.8 to tippy top 160.8 is actually like 11 SCALE lbs--all in the past 20 months.
Before that I think the max was in the 6lb range for swings
NOT complaining TOO hard.
But... not quite auto-pilot city.2 -

PAV - I read your words, but as someone who can fluctuate 11 pounds in 3 days, I'm was simply in awe of the small range between your tippy bottom and tippy top! But just because I am in awe doesn't mean you don't know best about your hamster harnessing.
Great work, @MelissaAY1017 ! Look how close you are to the next BMI class.4 -
Wow Pav, I'm with Laurie - to keep your swings within 11lbs for 5 years is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
I know that's what maintainers are SUPPOSED to do, but not many actually achieve it.
And while I hear you loud and clear that a 6lb tippy top to tippy bottom is better, 11lbs is still pretty darn admirable.
I'm PLANNING to set a 2kg maintenance weight range (4.4lbs), as my weight over the past 48 weeks and 3 days has been remarkably stable (never fluctuating upwards by more than 0.4kg from one day to the next, and never remaining up for more than 2 consecutive days before dropping back down)...also never dropping by more than 0.4kg overnight either...
So a 2kg range would THEORETICALLY seem a way bigger range than I'll run in reality. Alarm bells ought to start clanging and drive corrective action when I'm 0.5kg (1.1lbs) up...
But as we all know, there's a big ole gap between theory and reality.4 -
For Laurie: obviously 11lbs in 3 days has little to do with the underlying fat level. Over 20 months and using trends... it's a different story! Yes, it's not a disaster. But it is also a bit of a trend right now. I also, obviously, have to deal with very limited water retention. While 1-2lbs is normal for me in terms of water retention. 3+ is very unusual for me. That's just luck of the draw and it does simplify things.
For Bella: 5lbs is a pretty normal range to consider FOR WEIGHT TREND. For scale weight you are being somewhat restrictive. Maybe in the beginning... but you want to cautiously change things down the road.
I suspect that you are seeing less fluctuations because, as far as I can tell from your general discussions, you have generally maintained a deficit even when "letting loose" when coming closer to maintenance. And most certainly you haven't done the *AT* or slightly above bit for more than a very few days in a row. I know you've taken a few "diet breaks" but they were very cautious and with your exercise I suspect calibrated on the low side.1 -
This week's stats
SW (17/3/21): 96.0kg/211.2 lbs (BMI 40 - category 3 obese)
LW: Scale weight: 64.6 kg/142.1 lbs (BMI 26.9); Trend weight: 65.0 kg/143.3 lbs (BMI 27.1)
CW: Scale weight: 64.6 kg/142.1 lbs (BMI 26.9); Trend weight: 64.9kg/142.5 lbs (BMI 27.1)
Down 0.8 lbs for trend weight despite not losing a single scale ounce this week. 7 days straight of stepping on the scales and seeing 64.6kg. First time I've weighed exactly the same for 7 consecutive days since I started daily weighing last March.
Either I'm due a whoosh or I need to adjust my BMR:TDEE factor downwards from 1.72, because intake vs estimated TDEE for the week was a deficit of 3590 which should have resulted in a 1lb scale loss.
I'll monitor to see if the same thing happens over the next two weeks, and if it does I'll lower my TDEE factor so that I don't set my scale loss expectations too high.3 -
Following, Bella! I love how exact your science is.
I've given up a bit on careful (as in understanding the numbers) weight tracking - my water weight shifts can be so extreme that it left me feeling kind of at a complete loss.
But you are inspiring me.2 -
Bella: maybe time for a battery pull, scale recalibration.
Also *consider* a refeed day eating closer to maintenance and prioritising for the extra calories relatively filling carbs (e.g. boiled potatoes), while minimizing (or at least not increasing) fats for that day
Remind me when you get a chance what BMI you're aiming for.1
