I'll take it, especially because I had a bigger loss last week, I didn't expect a huge one again this week. I'm just glad the scale is going down again.7 -
I’ve been struggling to find my motivation but today we’ve started planning a summer trip - those tend to give me some motivation. There will be a lot of hiking so I’ll need to prepare!
@gak71 I love that you're planning ahead. Cash in tomorrow's motivation today. What a great idea!

1/18 exercise:
12,112 steps + 1 hour Orangetheory (25 minutes treadmill and 35 minutes weightlifting, rowing, and stretching. Fitbit gave me 4653 steps for this).
@jugar that's a good question. I find February one of the most difficult months to get through, thankfully it's short. For me, I'm signing up for an 8 week transformation challenge at my gym that starts on January 31st with a gym friend (who is now a friend!). I'm hoping we can help keep each other motivated. While I want to keep losing weight, I think I'm going to try to focus on lifting heavier weights to feel stronger. I know I feel the best about myself when I'm feeling strong, especially if I can see the biceps growing!4 -
KellyBgetsfit wrote: »@jugar I had a perfect day yesterday. I do not want to mess that up by hopping on the scale today. For this week only, I am going to weigh in Friday. Thank you.
I had a rough January so I am definitely looking forward to crushing my goals in February.
absolutely no problem! I am glad you nabbed that perfect day. I'm on one today to recover a bit of a celebration yesterday that involved apple crisp and ice milk. I'll think of you today any time temptation hits - we've got this

I love this! I'm going through a "back to the weights" time and even though it is hard sometimes, the results of feeling strong are a real boost. Let's keep it going through February!4 -

Super tired from shoveling all the snow that came down this past weekend but feeling pretty good 😁5 -
Hello everyone,
Sorry for the missed weight in..covid decided to pay my household an unwelcome visit!! You would think not being able to taste anything I would not have messed up my diet but I did..royally!!! All I have been doing is sleeping and eating the past week. At this time I think I am going to pull out from the group as I know I won’t be able to get back on track until everyone is better. Good luck to everyone ❤️5 -

I'm sorry to hear that! If you like, I can put you on the Support Team. This way, you can keep posting and dropping by, but you do not need to weigh in. When you are ready, it is simple to go back onto the regular team. Would that be of interest?2 -

1/18 exercise:
5185 steps, 46 minutes Peloton
All day today I kept thinking it felt like Thursday! Even tonight I kept thinking.. "yay, Friday tomorrow". Oops
Brad and I are having a simple week. Get up, work, walk when it's not too cold, ride the Peloton, cook, TV, bed. I don't have much energy for much else! Sometimes making the right choices takes a lot of energy. But mostly I have gotten myself into enough of a groove that I just don't think it about it much... just doing what I know I need to.
Back in the morning for weigh-in on the REAL Thursday6 -

@ashleycarole86 Me too! In fact, this week felt like a month and it’s only half over. But we found a rental house. It’s very nice. We will actually be living with my daughter, SIL, and granddaughter. We practically live together anyway. It was a much better deal to get a big house together rather than two small apts. I haven’t rented in 31 years. What an ordeal! Wew!! Glad that’s done. They weren’t so sure about allowing our cats, but they liked us so they are letting us rent anyway. We are very familiar with the area too from when we used to live there. And my old friends are nearby. Now, I’ll get LOTS of exercise as we secure the movers and get packing!!! Oh God help us. 🙏🏼
@kdblpn Glad you are feeling better!!
Needed to get my Pilates in this morning. It felt so good to do it. It had been a few days. My logging has been sporadic with all that’s going on.
Off to bed. My eyes keep closing.6 -
Hi! I have been very good with my calories this week but every time I get on the scale...nothing. I'm really hopeful that my Friday weigh in will be ok. Work is kind of a disaster zone with covid. We are missing a ton of staff and only a third of our afternoon students came to school today. One of our teachers has had enough and retired today! So crazy! Not sure what the next few weeks will look like so one day at a time. My plan for February is to just keep at it slow and steady. I heard a funny saying the other day that I liked! "It's a lot easier to fall off the wagon if its going 100 mph" I am keeping my wagon under control and maybe around 30 mph. Taking a bump at a slower speed isn't too bad. Taking a bump at 100 mph can be catastrophic. Another question 🤔 Do you view yourself as passively riding on the metaphorical wagon or driving the wagon?4
-
@kdblpn that sounds really positive, I bet you can't wait to hit the gym again.
@micki48 I think moving in together makes sense, plus you can trial it before you buy then I agree with you about this week dragging!
@conleywoods I'm sorry your work is so messy atm. It must be really challenging for staff, students and parents. I've always considered myself to be riding the wagon, occasionally (more often than I would like in the last 6 months) smashing it up and setting it on fire. I suspect the 'correct' answer is that we ought to be driving the wagon, and I like that saying as well.
I took it easier last night. We went for an hours walk, and it's always super quick due to OH's long legs - I told him my mind was dragging my body around this one but was glad we'd done it. I did some admin on the PC but nothing else physical and was asleep by 10.30. I've had weird dreams the past few nights; think my subconscious is dealing with my stress but how these events fit into it is beyond me!
The decorators are applying colour now, and it's looking great. They are expecting to finish on Sunday, but may run in to Monday, and the flooring is booked for Tuesday. The end is in sight and I can't wait. The house is very echo-y without any flooring down, and I miss my evenings cross stitching in front of the TV. I'm also really looking forward to those upholstery projects which can be started once the furniture is back where it belongs.
I over ate a bit yesterday too, but back on track today. I've pre-entered my main meals and will stay within the calorie goal. I need to retain that focus in February and I think it'll be fine as long as I don't tire myself out quite so much as I have this week.4 -

I took a rest day yesterday but paced around my house to get more steps. I'm trying to remind myself that rest days are important and it's okay if I don't meet my step goal on them. But my "all or nothing" brain makes that difficult.
The winter months are tough! My husband and I keep talking about that. He thinks the worst months are February and March, whereas I think the worst are January and February. Here's hoping my energy levels will start to pick up as February rolls around 😅5 -
Happy Thursday!Hey everyone! Back up and running. I finish cardiac rehab in a few weeks and will be able to go back to the gym. I can hardly wait. My diet is doing better. I am not 100% back to following it but getting close. @jugar I will be ready to join the team again.
This is great news - let me know your starting weight and weigh-in day (confirmation if you are not changing it from Mondays) when you are ready to start. Take your time, take some deep breaths, and off you go!
@micki48 another decision done! You are doing great, and I'm glad you'll all be living together and in a neighbourhood with friends. Renting gives you a lot more flexibility and breathing room - and you get to relive your footloose youth in one way When you're ready, I think @DD265 should captain your reno team. She's top of my list to drag across the pond and work on my house! Keep up the Pilates. As you know, it always feels great. I missed yesterday and will be glad to get back on the mat today.
@kellie_erin You make me sad having to pick what part of winter is the worst! Every part is the best In February the days are getting noticeably longer, the sunshine is amazing even if it gets really cold, the snow is beautiful. Sometimes people who live in warmer places are really annoying talking about their gardens and stuff, but that keeps the blood pressure going so you stay warm, right? I know it is hard putting on all the warm clothes day in and day out, and the driving challenges can be ridiculous, but I'll just keep sharing my winter joy in hopes that it is at least a wee bit contagious.

Great question! I think the wagon is being pulled by a rather skittish but strong and energetic horse. I'm definitely driving the thing, but sometimes the horse gets spooked and freezes at a stop, or takes off wildly. Sometimes I get it right back under control and set off at a stylish trot, impressing everyone who sees us. Sometimes, there is no way, the bumps and turns happen, off I fly. A little while later, I find the horse contentedly munching some rich green grass in a field, having gotten over the whole thing, and I get back up on the wagon and get us back on the road, hopefully with not too much harm done. Repairs are sometimes needed...
But maybe we have a team wagon and sometimes someone else takes over driving for a bit, preventing the wild ride with just the right word to the horse, and we all stay on. I like that idea.6 -
1/19 exercise:
5595 steps, 46 minutes Peloton, 10 minutes strength
Ah the walking in the house @kellie_erin ... I know it well
Your gym program with your friend sounds like it'll be coming at a great time for you to get you some extra joy through the rest of winter.
@jugar you are truly the official ambassador for winter 😂
@micki48 sounds like the rental choice will simplify some things. It's coming together. That packing will be tiring for sure...
Welcome back @kdblpn
@conleywoods I'm not driving the wagon I don't think. But I'm definitely on the wagon Sounds like you're easing yourself back in, looking at things mindfully and that you'll adjust as required.. a great strategy and especially when your work situation is so hectic right now.
It's actual Thursday today! WOO HOO. Today is my 52nd week of solid tracking on MFP... one year anniversary from the start of my journey is on the 28th. Best year of my life- I took it back again!
Brad and I are riding one more day today and then we rest tomorrow in advance of a weekend event called "Pelo Fondo" where you set a distance challenge for yourself and meet it on the weekend. I've picked 100KM and Brad has picked 160KM. Looking forward to it!5 -

@kdblpn Glad to hear that you're back at it!
@conleywoods I would say that I view myself as driving the wagon; I am more of a leader in life rather than a passenger.
@DD265 Pre-logging meals is a great idea. That helps me stay motivated and focused, too.
@ashleycarole86 Great loss this week! Wow!
@evangsimmons170 I like your attitude! Do not give up!
Going out with some friends tonight, as I usually do on Thursday night. I am looking forward to it; I have my food logged and ready to go.

@PlaneMonkey I'm so sorry to read about your dad. I think you've got your head and your heart in the right place...remembering all the great things and being grateful. still...hugs.1

We are heli-hiking around the Bobbie Burns Lodge and the Bugaboos near Banff. I’m not familiar with either of those areas but from what I have read it should be an epic trip. I may need to reach out to Brad and Sam for some pointers, they both seem to have mastered this weight loss thing!4 -
@gak71 Banff and the Bugaboos - lucky you!! I'm sure @ashleycarole86 and the other Albertans can give you lots of thoughts about that area. Heli-hiking sounds amazing!
Snowshoeing was fabulous today - I was a happy camper the whole time I was out there! Huffing and puffing sometimes, but what a beautiful day.

It's finally Friday! I hope everyone is OK
Had another busy evening yesterday; went for a walk, primed the woodwork in the airing cupboard and decided I'm going to top coat it all so that's more work. Future me will be grateful when it's done, though. I've been for a run before work which was hard going - I think because it's so cold and I'm tired - so plenty of walking involved. This was the recovery run, mostly because of how I was feeling, but the pace when we were running was pretty good. It's my half day today, and in the afternoon I'm going to give the decorators a hand (if they'll let me) to hopefully push things along a bit.
Food wise, I stayed comfortably within calorie goal yesterday and am on track to do the same today. I've had a yoghurt and sausage roll for breakfast, have a nice wrap for lunch, then we've a lamb rogan josh for dinner - it's the sides with this last meal that are quite high in calories, but I wasn't a huge fan of cauliflower rice and will settle for either skipping rice or halving the naan portion if I want more snacking calories this evening.3
