    6 miles this evening. Didn't feel like battling 30mph wind, and I needed to do an easy recovery pace. So opted for the treadmill to control the speed.

    @polskagirl01 yes, there's definitely overlap in naming, and probably a spectrum of spikiness where a microspike becomes a crampon. I'm certainly no expert, I just read facebook hiking group posts ;)

    Date :::: Miles :::: Cumulative
    02/01/22 :::: 0.0 :::: 0.0

    02/15/22 :::: 3.0 :::: 31.5

    I actually made it to the gym early enough this morning to get my run in before yoga. But as soon as I walked in I ran into a friend who I hadn't seen in a while and we talked for at least 15 minutes. So foiled again! But I did 1.5 miles before yoga and then 1.5 after to get to a more respectable total for the day.

    @polskagirl01 Oh no. I hope a day of rest is all your back needs. Did you put ice on it? If you strained it, that's probably better than heat.

    February Goal: 30 Miles

    2/6: 2.26 miles
    2/8: 3.32 miles
    2/9: 3.20 miles
    2/10: 3.20 miles
    2/13: 6.35 miles
    2/15: 4.51 miles
    2/16: 5.15 miles

    27.99/30 miles completed for February

    I ran 5 miles this morning. I guess I am back to normal now. It was a good run. It was too windy for me at 20+ mph, but it was right at 60°F so I ran in shorts and a t-shirt. It was a little difficult at the beginning because I was running into the wind, but overall it was great. I felt good. I was still a little slow, but that could be the wind as much as anything.

    @Aine8046 What a beautiful place to run!

    @polskagirl01 I hope the back feels better quickly.

    @quilteryoyo A good cry every now and then usually helps. That and maybe one chocolate. 😄

    Today is also the day referred to in the Old Farmer's Almanac as the day "winter's back breaks." Couldn't happen to a nicer season.
    My back decided to take winter's place I guess. Remind me to avoid bowling. Hopefully this just needs a rest day and I'll be fine.

    @katharmonic after all of that hiking you've done, you're the closest to being an expert out of anyone here! I also learned today (podcast) that there are snowshoes designed especially for running and racing, so maybe @shanaber is on to something there, too. I'm ready for Spring, though!

    I went out for a very "meh" 7-ish kilometer run. Planned a longer route but just wasn't feeling up to it. I don't know. I tried to just keep running, even at a slow pace, and my body was just like "nope, we're gonna walk right now". Afterwards, we took the kids bowling and I did something to my back. Hopefully no big deal, but I won't run tomorrow and see how it feels.
    That's why I had to give up bowling years ago...

    2/1 – 7.04 miles
    2/2 – 3.11 miles
    2/5 – 3.15 miles + 9.2 miles
    2/7 – 5.18 miles
    2/9 – 5.12 miles
    2/10 – 3.21 miles + 3.19 miles
    2/11 – 5.14 miles
    2/15 – 5.31
    2/16 – 5.16
    Total – 55.13 miles

    Add me to the struggle bus also. I think when the weather starts to warm up it will be easier for me to get outside, especially in the mornings before work. Like @polskagirl01, being signed up for a race is what got me out the door on Tuesday morning in the dark, by myself, in 19F. I like your exercise philosophy @tramboman. I have been doing other exercises in lieu of running so I don’t know why the running guilt has gotten me.

    @emmamcgarity – It’s great to have you back with us and glad you are finding some time for yourself to get back into running. Sorry about your mom’s health. I hope the radiation kills all the cancer cells and she rebounds quickly.

    @quilteryoyo – It’s probably just the angle of the camera that has me looking slimmer!

    @Tramboman – All “crackerdog?” Please do explain!

    What a beautiful place @Aine8046!

    @Aine8046 Beautiful picture. Is that on your running route?

    Thank you, it is :)

    Thanks for the explanation @rheddmobile! Sounds like a neat little series.

    Glad you had a good run yesterday.

    I read all the Creatures books when I was young and like your mom Rhedd I am watching the new series on PBS as well and enjoying the scenery a lot! Crackerdog is funny. Seems like old ladies with character always come up with the best phrases. As in the Dowager in Downton A. Today I am not extremely motivated to run this morning but my facebook memory of storm URI from last year reminds me that I should take advantage of the 60 deg weather.
