Savvy strategy Alexandra! 👍3 -
The hubby is off! And my new swimsuit arrived from Amazon a day early. I was terrified to try it on, and I am being very self critical, because of loose wrinkly skin, but it's a 12 and it fits!

Good work there Jennifer! Lovely suit and lovely lady. ❣️4

It looks fantastic!! I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the Amazon swimwear I've purchased over the last year - we just won't talk about if I made it to the pool more than once over the combined three weeks! Not for lack of confidence in said suits - I simply don't "relax" well on vacation unless I'm on a cruise ship.4

@MelissaAY1017 I have a weekend chorus retreat starting on Thursday, and DEFINITELY am hoping to hit the pool and hot tub, so I needed something that wouldn't float right off me! I ordered it YESTERDAY and it arrived today! And only $31!6

Congratulations, Wisewoman. And loose skin is better the old full skin! You are going to be looking fine for your retreat.
Oh all the delicious, calorie dense, nutritious food that beckons us with its siren song.
This week is March Break - I have The Boy all week. Pray for me. I'm at my weakest with him, and have decided not to worry because it is only a day or two a week usually. But this week....YIKES.
Nah. I'm being overly dramatic. I can do this. Easy peasy lemon squeezy (as he would say).
(NOT)6 -
It’s only a week Laurie. Enjoy the time with Boy because it all goes by so fast. Just do the best you can and you’ll be fine. 💕4
-
Jennifer, you look really good! I'll definitely remember that about swimwear. Right now I have a problem because my chest is so large that I need a suit with plenty of built in support, and those are not always easy to find if you want to have some choices in style. I'm going to fix that sooner than later, though.5

@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Thanks so much! This particular bathing suit had stitched-in cups (no underwires, but still, not just stretchy material) so it was pretty good. I am a 36DDD and it had good coverage and support. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNCSLLQ/ref=twister_B08PNTX2NX?_encoding=UTF8&th=1&psc=12

You look good!.. l like the suit….I swim about 5 times a week in the warm weather so I have a bunch of swim suits…I get them at Walmart for about $20 ….the chlorine and chemicals wear them out pretty fast…I am not an Olympic swimmer but I try to paddle around about 45 minutes without stopping and then I do water aerobics and water jogging…I have gone from a 3X to a 1X….you look better in your suit than I do in mine!3
-
Mine floated off once! Childhood trauma is all I'm saying. 10m diving board. Err.... almost passed out but did make it to air.... WITH the trunks on!!!!😉👍5
-
I lost mine in a lake once, water skiing. "Learning" to water ski. I went down, but didn't let go of the rope. The fellows driving the boat kept going for awhile before they saw I was still hanging on for dear life - Err...to the rope, not my bathing suit, which was somewhere well behind me.3

I don't do things that require a bathing suit as I hate the way I look in them. Which sucks because I used to LIVE at the pool when I was younger and I still love being in the water. But I just can't get over my hate for the suit.
So after a busy and emotional weekend, I made the decision to stop the house hunting for the time being. I just can't be competitive in this market and I can't keep putting off a few expenses that have popped up. Like, I NEED a new mattress bad. I can feel the springs in mine and there are areas where it has sunk in. It is no wonder my back and hips hurt so much. So that will be purchase #1. So I emailed my realtor and my apartment complex this morning. Hopefully at the end of the year things will have calmed down a bit and I can try again.
And due to all those emotions I binged HARD yesterday. 2 slices of deep dish pizza, 5 pieces of thin crust pizza, 2 big pieces of cake, multiple sodas, cheese bread... it was bad. I am feeling it today. So bloated and fatigued. But back on plan today. I do have some cake left, but I sliced and portioned it out already and I know I can stick to one portion (6 points).6 -
Glad you're finding the best way forward!

No one notices our wrinkly, saggy, bulgey bits once we're in the water! And in my experience, strangers aren't half as critical towards our bodies as we are towards ourselves. If you feel inhibited until you're actually in the water, you could always wear a light wrap or towel and leave at the poolside.
Or wear a race/competition swimsuit like this one:
Or one of the modesty swimsuits worn by muslim women like this one:
That said, it's such a shame that you let body negativity prevent you from doing something that brings you genuine joy. Your body is your most precious asset, and deserves to be loved, not despised and hidden away from pleasure and fun.6 -
@Athijade I am sorry you avoid the water because of how you feel in a swimsuit, though I understand and have felt that way as well. But I love water too much to stay out--I feel so free in the water! Before I decided to be a nurse practitioner, I fully intended to become a marine biologist just so I could spend all my time in the ocean. No actual jobs in the field, so I changed course! @Bella_Figura, true that most of the time people are not as focused on us or as critical as we are of ourselves, but I am still traumatized from a trip to the Florida Keys and a snorkeling expedition where some very cruel comments were made to/about me. I absolutely REFUSED to let it keep me from doing what I loved, but it did take away a lot of the joy.4
-
You know what?….I don’t give a rats @$$ how I look in a swim suit or what people think because I am pretty!….the last placed we lived I thought if I joined the water aerobics class that I would be the biggest woman in the pool….I wasn’t and no one can see your body once you get in the water!….and once in the water swimming or exercising, I can keep up with anyone….don’t let other people take away your joy especially when you are doing something that is good for you!…obviously I don’t wear a bikini but I wear a high cut leg suit so I can move around….not wearing some old lady suit!6
-
@jenniferelizabethwiseman - fellow "wanted to be a marine biologist" here!! All I can say is that I'm sorry that humans have the ability to be so callous - it's probably part of why I dreamed of spending my life working with animals. While it doesn't reduce the trauma...just keep in mind that people that vile are not the majority, and not worth one ounce of your attention or memory-bank! There is not one human who I am willing to let steal the joy the ocean provides. In reality, it should be that I'm not willing to let any human steal ANY of my joy - but I'm still working on it. Nobody's perfect. 😂5

I was wondering where everyone was too! Perhaps spring is in the air?
Then again maybe we all had one of those days not worth writing about.2 -
@MelissaAY1017 wow, another marine biology lover! Jaques Cousteau and Eugenie Clarke were my heros! I have been super busy this week, getting ready for my chorus retreat weekend. Will be singing and dancing for about 20 hours from Friday night until Sunday afternoon!3

People sing!?!?!?!1
-
@PAV8888 we didn't for many long months because of COVID, but we have been back in person singing together for a couple of months, finally! Check us out at www.libertyoakchorus.org if you want to see and hear more!3

My day was crazy with work but I knew that no one would be interested in hearing about that lol. Hopefully today will be a little less insane! Though one of the cats has already tried to kill me this morning by running at my foot/leg at full speed in the dark when I was walking to my desk. He almost took me out! My little toe hurts on that foot but I don't think it is broken.
It is supposed to be nice today so once it warms up a bit I will open the window. I also really need to do some meal planning.5 -
Wow! You ladies are way way way too energetic for my little brain this early in the morning; but it was awesome!!!!!👍

Oh, I am so glad you watched it, @PAV8888! This is a hobby that feeds my soul! I am in a quartet, too. And it is part of the reason why I really wanted to lose weight--I needed the stamina, needed to take pressure off my knees and needed to be able to breathe better.3
-
When you're in the first row.... looks like you're ALMOST in a cheerleading squad But I can definitely see how it would make a significant difference to stamina and breath control!!!!
Which brings to mind... how come opera singers are... hmmm... terminology... not generally unknown to be plus sized?!?!?! I sure as *kittens* don't sing. But I can certainly feelZ that I would be more CAPABLE of singing with more room for air in my balloon!!!2 -
Ha ha! It is absolutely easier to expand the lungs when there isn't as much fat below the diaphragm, BUT people who are overweight often have a larger thoracic cavity and so a larger lung capacity, which can help with opera!4
-
@jenniferelizabethwiseman - ok, you're two for two the last couple days!! (Three if I recall you mentioning cruising in your intro, or one of your early pics being on a cruise ship...?)
That video truly made me miss being on stage. I stopped everything while I was in college due to the sports med program I was in at the time - I had performed in choral & select/highlights groups all through school and my first couple years of college. Also played in wind ensembles and orchestra. Had the BEST director who brought in probably $100k of his own instruments, and took it upon himself to start teaching anyone he thought he could handle more than just their first-learned instrument. Finally had to give it all up when it came time for clinicals and team assignments - then I ended up switching gears realizing (again) that the jobs wouldn't be as plentiful as I hoped. Not many options in my tiny town, but maybe someday I'll go searching. Until then - I'll irritate the neighbors singing along to just about anything. 🤣4 -
Having a March break blast - The Boy is running me off my feet - glad I stopped in here though - lots of fun to see your video, Wisewoman! Thank you for hooking us up with the video PAV.
Not sure what my calorie intake has been like - it really has been a whirlwind, I can't quite remember this morning. I'm hoping that the whirlwind component will balance it all out.5
