We did a roll your own dinner tonight as the weather decided to target the foot I had rebuilt, and, to be quite frank, I could barely walk.
Hopefully tomorrow it won't be so difficult, because I have precooking to do. Going to have a hot bath and go to bed.8 -
Hope you get some rest and feel better soon Alexandra ❣️3

Today is better. I need to make white rice and package it up, there's a batch of chicken enchiladas that need made (which uses up the bag of chicken filling I had in the freezer!) and my mother-in-law adores white cupcakes, so I will make her cupcakes and some marbled loaf cake that I can cut into slices and freeze for the occasional treat for us. Also, if my feet are going to be painful on Thursdays I had better premake the sauce for next Thursday's dinner, as I like having my Chinese takeout dinners on Thursdays and don't want to miss it again.
Boyfriend works at the office on Fridays, and I'm good with this; it lets me get on with the precooking and get a lot done without him being in the way.8 -
Sounds like a better start to your day! I hope it continues. 😊3

+1 Alexandra. Happy cooking!2

Between car loading, occasional calls for issues, driving and picking out a hotel.... Yooly saved the day partially and I had 4 bunnies worth of carrots and radishes and a clif bar to go to 6pm when I got to the Indian band travel centre that sells.... FRY bread!
Total hamster 🐹 moment between the wind, explaining to dad and trying to split the three savoury and one Saskatoon berry fry bread between us... NO PICTURES Saskatoon berries were plentiful enough to be between 🐇 and 🐰. If glaze counts...
The Minnesota nutritional database has the 359g of total fry bread consumed at 1371Cal. Can't say it felt too far off!!!🤔 Yes, the Oxo scale provides its own platform and is in the car!
I don't know why people expect to be congratulated and offered bonuses when they send me videos of Reefer Otter Shish Kebab while making comments like the one I can hear in the short video???

And then followed up at 3am by: "What's that hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Hmm what could that be used for at 3am? *Kittening* skunk! Right in the front yard." To my question: "wounds"... "Nah, as usual: head and face."
Sigh, little ATM looked so innocent in the cage and the staged adopt me pictures...

OMG. Fry bread! Mercifully it is not available anywhere near me. Manna of the gods.
Gym this morning followed by a visit to the clinic for another round of steroid shots. Got to review my X-rays and MRI. So the hip has bone spurs, calcification and thickened bursa. Good news is it’s not bad enough for surgery. Just more stretching and exercise. A few pain pills 💊 too.
Today I’ll indulge in my pre-trip preparations. I always do a thorough house cleaning and mopping. Day before leaving it’s fresh sheets, towel and vacuuming too. Hubby thinks I’m nuts but it’s so nice to come home to a clean house and recover from travel!

Glad today came with a bit of relief, Alexandra.
PAV - are you saying reefer got it in the face???? The gods give and the gods taketh away.
Good news I guess, Yooly? I get it on the house cleaning - it does feel so good to come home to a "nice" feeling home.4 -
When you stick your nose in a skunk's tail... thankfully peroxide, baking, drop of soap as catalyst works quite well4
-
I like to throw in a listerine rinse too!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, grand moms, step moms, and caregivers. Everyone mothers sometimes. That includes PAV who has been having a difficult time lately mothering his fur baby!5 -
How is everyone this beautiful sunny Sunday (at least that's the weather in my little corner of England?)
Say hi, anyone who's around! Weekends are higher risk times (IMHO) than weekdays, so I'm trying to avoid tumbleweed rolling through the threads when folks may need a little extra support. I'll be popping back throughout the day if anyone's feeling in need of encouragement!
So far today I've been for a short walk (another one planned for after dinner), made a 4-day batch of roasted veggie couscous, and topped up all the bird feeders. After lunch I'm doing a 30km turbo ride, then turning into a couch potato to watch hours of cycling (day 3 of the Giro D'Italia broadcast live for 6 hours on GCN+ and the women's and men's elite UCI world cup XCO cross country MTB races broadcast live for 4 hours on RedBull TV from Albstadt in Germany). A cornucopia of cycling riches.
Hence the walk planned for after dinner, to force me to move away from the couch for an hour or two!5 -
I’m here too Bella. Weekends are tough. Going out for Mother’s Day lunch today. So there will be some calories to navigate.4

Happy sunday Yooly! Enjoy your mother's day lunch, try to make good choices but don't forget it's an annual occasion so it's won't hurt you if you over-indulge a little.4

I’m down a few pounds in anticipation of our trip next week. There will be much home cooking and eating out. Thanks for the encouragement- ❤️4

Good afternoon! Happy Mother’s Day! It ‘isn’t here, but I feel it is as my eldest & his lovely GF are down from Edinburgh to visit, taking my car - that has sat in the garage more or less for two years, as I work from home!
They are takingg it for the summer to go travelling down around. The GF is from the Czech republic and so will be nice for them both…Food wise has a bit tricky, as the GF is vegan….. I am making a pasta dish & making my own pasta (Gulp! ) - a ravioli - for us tea tonight! Wish me luck! Nervous as no meat for the centre dish 🤣🤣🤣4 -
Hubby’s Sicilian grandmother taught me to make homemade ravioli and pasta. Nothing better but I haven’t made it in years. I think I quit after making 12 dozen homemade ravioli for a party for hubby’s young troops. Those boys could eat!
I’m sure Janatkis son and GF will be impressed! Try a spinach lasagna with homemade noodles?4 -
Hope everyone has a beautiful day today! Yooly, when you mentioned PAV mothering his little reefer (this time of year I hear "Is that pot or skunk I smell?" a lot in this neighbourhood!) I couldn't help but think he mothers all of us. So for sure he gets Mother's Day greetings.
My son drove me back last night after I walked The Boy home from his sleep over (well me and the pup kinda trotted and he rode his bike ). In the car on the way home I was going on and on about The Boy, and what a pleasure he is and how he is the star with all my friends - who are probably only my friends so they can hang out with him. My son listened and when he parked in front of my place turned off the car and with a small gesture of his hand and not looking up told me they have decided they are going to take advantage the crazy real estate market in Hamilton, sell their house and move away to the east coast - about 2,000km away - this summer.
I'm not keen on how this weekend is going6 -
Oh Laurie. This wasn't the type of Mother's day surprise i would have wished for you.
BUT, BUT, BUT: think of it this way. Some of the East coast is beautiful to visit! So you'll have a good excuse to travel and explore!2 -
Well... for all of you (apparently as I'm now learning all of us) so afflicted...
